MARIETTA, EARTHQUAKE, BREWER CLIFTON, ROSENBLUM, PROVENANCE, SANFORD, RUTHERFORD HILL, CALLISTOGA CELLARS, ROW ELEVEN, SHANNON RIDGE, CIVELLO, and SULLIVAN " the headline should finish...
And so I begin this series of blogs on our last Big-Theme Wine-Tasting that featured California this last time on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 from 5:30-8:30 PM. I asked Chris Barker to organize this tasting as he is new to our store Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel:202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com , www.clevelandparkwine.com ) having started in mid December 2009 and having spent two years at Dean & DeLuca's in Georgetown, Washington D.C.
We had a really good tasting and an excellent turn-out that would not have been possible without the generous support and help from our local reps and their companies that we buy our wines from. We had Sal Furfari of Bacchus Imports, Eric Platt and Kelly of the Pinnacle House Selections, Laure of Washington Wholesalers, Mike of Winner, and Matt of Washburn all pouring an assortment of twenty-six wines which included mostly dry reds and whites, one port-style, some blends, etc.
Sal Furfari ( Bacchus Imports ) here pictured in the picture above ( on the right ) poured the CROSSBARN ( made by Paul Hobbs )2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, $44.99; the BREGGO Gewurztraminer 2009, $29.99 ; the MARIETTA " Old Vines " Zinfandel blend Lot 51, $14.99, the EARTHQUAKE 2007 Zinfandel, $32.99 and the BREWER CLIFTON 2008 Pinot Noir, $42.99. He did a great job and we sold some of all these more expensive wines as their quality won the hearts of some of our customers over and they just had to have one or the other of them.
Above in the picture above Lauren of Washington Wholesalers looks up some information for Gerald as they sample through her collection of LIBERTY SCHOOL, SANFORD and RUTHERFORD HILL wines.
I have lots more to say and include with prices and vintages and names of all these wines but will post this now to get the ball rolling. Tonight I will continue this. Enjoy the pictures in the meantime. Cheers, TONY P.S.: It's Thursday here in northern Virginia at home just before I leave to work at 9:11 AM on June 24th, 2010. The World Soccer Cup games are still progressing and the United States has just made it with yesterday's wine to the second round of competitions.
