Always Supporting the " Original " Malbecs Of France Here In Cleveland Park Washington D.C. N.W. From The Lot Region & The Cahors Town & Region 2000-2

011! Go Malbec From France!!! That's how the headline should finish above.

I love selling Cahors wine the old " black wines " of France. For years I have been a fan along with my father, We would shop for them together when living in Paris, France back in the 1970's. What fun that was then to shop in the Nicolas, Hediard and finally the great Caves De La Madeleine from the British owner Steven Spurrier. Those were some fun shopping expeditions that we would share as often as possible together, Glad I have those memories.

One of my favorite recent stories selling a Malbec , Cahors wines to one of our customers was her response to me when I proposed one instead of one from Argentina : " But can they be any good there? " My immediate response was : " Would they have schlepped ( spelling? ) the wine from Cahors, France all the way to South America if it was not any good there to begin with?!?! Let's get a little perspective here : see the larger picture.

There is much for me to say here on this subject and I need more time. In the meantime next time you need some Malbec and you want to learn more about the history and try the variety that the grape can and does produce come on by Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel : 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com anthony.quinn@clevelandparkwine.com on Facebook at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits and also on Twitter now at : cpwinespirits ). I'd love to talk to you about this subject more anytime that you have some.

We have a number of the Cahors now in the store for you to chose from.

Pictured above is the CHATEAU Du CEDRE 2007 ( $27.99 ), 13.5% alcohol by volume, Verhaeghr & Fils, proprietaires A Vire, Lot 46700, France. It sure does have flavor and concentration and depth and our customers have loved it over the last year. We started with the 2006 pictured above. Now we are selling the 2007 and I love it's heartiness and heft and with a meal in this hot weather I think it would be sensational. How about with some cassoulet from the Lot region of France? You can get a great cassoulet down at the end of the block from us at Lavandou restaurant that has been there now for twenty years under the original owner Florence DeVilliers that has trained many of Washington's finest chefs today. It's still going strong.

From the DOMAINE DE CEDRE we also have the CEDRE HERITAGE 2009 Malbec Cahors at $14.99, the fancy LE CEDRE 2004 ( $67.99 ) and there is another we are looking at, too for $140 a bottle from CEDRE!

We also have the CLOS LA COUTALE 2008 Cahors , $15.99 from Kermit Lynch imports that is so round and soft and full and delightful on the palate. Our rep for Winebow Jody Jackman just tried it here with our customers two weeks ago and we sold out quickly.

We also sell the excellent CHATEAU HAUT-MONPLAISIR 2008 Malbec , Cahors from Vintage 59 Imports that is a bit heartier, more linear and in need of food and a meal to round and flesh it out.

Come drink some French Malbec once again! You will be floored, amazed, teased, dazed entertained and greatly impressed. Go back to the source - the " Black Wine " Fountain Of Youth if you will. Cheers, TONY
