Happy New Year 2014 everyone! It's beautiful, been outside twice already and loved each time! Enjoyed a bottle of the " Intenso " Brazilian Brut sparkling Serra Gaucha Brazil blend from SALTON of Chardonnay and some Riesling, $14.99 that tastes like a lovely bright, floral Extra Dry Prosseco to me, $14.99 a bottle. ... Once again I feel slighted and unrepresented by today's wine review ( Fearless predictions for the new year )of forecasts for 2014 in the wine world. Dave McIntyre takes tow paragraphs to mention restaurants and their lists and their sommeliers but makes no mention of any wine shops or their staff. I guess that means that as a group us wine stores are doing our jobs well already and do not need to be mentioned? Or that we have not and that he'd rather not mention us at all than mention us in a negative way? Dave did mention on Facebook in response to one of my posts that Doug Rosen and I were the only two local retailers that knew or cared anything about local wines. I find that really hard to believe. I wonder how much time he spends visiting the local wine stores and finding out what they do well? Besides that I did enjoy very much his paragraph that starts : " From around the world ... " Dave makes some great observations here and I appreciate that and agree with him. It's exciting, really exciting. I am thrilled. One of my predictions for 2014 : I will continue to fight for us wine retailers that make it our jobs to help our customers find what they and their family and guests will enjoy so that, as they look and feel good, so do we as a result of having well-assisted them. The wine world is an exciting place today and my other prediction is that at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits Michel Dumas and I will continue to " add to the equation " of wine and not simply " duplicate it " as I like to put it. Cheers, come on by, the store has never, ever been better stocked with wine treasures from around the world for you all to enjoy and discover. The STONE HILL sparkling Missouri dry Brut and the floral, fragrant, sultry, temptress sparkling rose ( both $21.99 ) make a great contrast to one another - like a couple - and should be enjoyed in this new year of 2014 : come by and get some asap and enjoy. Cheers, thanks for everything, we are waiting for you all as we navigate these new 2014 waters together! Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn 1/1/14 Happy Wednesday everyone. TONY
This Part 2 BUBBLY Big-Theme Wine-Tasting of 21 Sparkling wines and French Champagnes was inspired by The visit of customers Gay and Mark that love bubbly but were unable to attend the Part 1 BUBBLY Big-Theme Wine-Tasting of Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 from 5-8PM @ Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. Part 2 BUBBLY-FRENCH CHAMPAGNE-Sparkling-Wine-Tasti ng 12/30/13 (12 photos)
This was a trial of sorts to give those good customers of ours like Evie, Gay and Mark and Phoebe a chance to come to our annual BUBBLY tasting that they missed, for whatever reason on Wednesday, December 4th, 2013. This one Grew from a tasting that Michel Dumas and Anthony Quinn ( me ) had set with Mike Cavanagh to taste the stille and sparkling wines of SALTON, Brazil, and OVER THE MOUNTAIN, South Africa on Monday, December 3oth, 2013. I pieced it together as I went along. Marcie Weinstein of Constantine Imports sent and interesting list of sparkling wines and French champagnes from around the world that included Italy, Austria, Australia, Germany, Portugal and owner James Henry here in Cleveland Park of Teavine sparkling green tea and honey stopped by, Andrew Stover of Vino50 Imports and Siema Imports had his usual " fun " STONE HILL , Missouri sparkling white and fruity rose, as well as his SHINDIG Vidal Blanc Finer Lakes, New York State selections as well as dry Italian Piemontese 100% sparkling rose made from the Nebbiolo grape, and BEA sparkling red Italian, too. And Mark Congdon of J.W. Sieg had the Nathalie FALMET Brut Nature French champagne that was so new and exciting and a great RM - recoltant manipulant champagne to taste with you all for the first-time as it is " new " and very limited in availability! FUN! It was a huge success and here are some pictures I quickly took with the use of Kevin Gleeson's i-phone that he loaned me. Thanks Kevin. Cheers and Happy New Year One and ALL! For ONE and for ALL! Equal opportunity, equal access for all! Cheers, TONY 1/5/14

The pictures above are from the Monday night, December 30th, 2013 wine-tasting we did at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. Here is a picture of Mike Cavanagh pouring the still and sparkling, espumante sparkling wines of SALTON Vineyards in Serra Gaucha, Brazil! Chhers, obregado Mike e SALTON Vineyards. Cheers, Happy New Year 2014! TONY 1/5/14
Pictured above is Milton Sebben that poured me my first glass of wine in Brazil when I arrived there in late June 2012 : a glass in a proper champagne flute of the SALTON Extra Dry I think he said it was espumante sparkling wine , a boy did it ever taste great! Together he and the gentleman behind the desk in these other pictures , made me feel comfortable and welcome at the Hotel Victoria Dall' Onder in the wine town of Bento Goncalves, Serra Gaucha, Brazil. Obregado Milton e Crucius ( ? ) , you made the trip start really well for me and for that I will be forever grateful! Milton saw how much I enjoyed my first glass and he offered me a second. He was the " best part " of my 10-day stay at the Hotel Victoria Dall'Onder! Cheers, happy New Year 2014 Milton! Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn 1/5/14
