Mark, one of our favorite customers orders over the phone for weekend deliveries. He always asks me for any suggestions on " new " and exciting white wines? Earlier this afternoon I mentioned that he might buy a bottle of the MILLBROOK 2012 Proprietor's Special Reserve dry Italian white grape varietal from Friuli, Italy called TOCAI FRIULANO. It's made in the Hudson River Region, and is estate-bottled. Dry and crisp and lovely minerality, a fine medium-to-light-bodied food wine, $16.99, 12% alcohol by volume ( I also tasted it earlier with Marge that's from New York State's Finger Lakes' region : her brother makes wine at his home ) , and to Jim Stutsman that likes the Merlot they make. It's lovely, good and balanced and firm and a treat to enjoy now as the temperatures fall and it's so cool and damp outside : warms one up nicely. ANYWAY : Mark is going to try and bottle and I think he will like it as he and his wife like the wines of New Zealand a lot. Cheers, Happy weekend!
