     The headlind should read : " Tasting One Spanish White And Four Spanish Reds ( not Whites )! Sorry, I will change it later ....

     Sotiris Bafitis that works now with Aurelio Cabestrero( President of the GRAPES OF SPAIN ) and he brought the export manager Carlos Romero here to taste the fabulous ABADAL Barcelona, Spain ) wines. I pretty much liked them all, especially the Cabernet Franc/Tempranillo red blend ( a annual favorite of mine ), $18.99 .

     The ABADAL  5 Merlot ( five clones of Merlot in the wine ) was also showing beautifully today. It was brighter, fuller and had a more modern taste whereas the Cabernet Franc/Tempranillo had a more classic one. I could easily recommend the ABADAL  5 Merlot ( $18.99 ) for more casual drinking, with or without a meal : and the  ABADAL Cabernet Franc/Tempranillo when you sit down to a nice grilled meal fresh from your grill either outside or inside. Both are medium-bodied and quite versatile in their food applications.

     I also really enjoyed discovering the 

 new " white blend of three grapes. It was flavorful, dry, distinct and will make a great food wine. It would be grand today as the sun is out for the second day in a row here in Washington D.C. and the rain has all but dried up and all vestiges of it gone away. It will perhaps be in the 60's again today and so I could highly recommend this 

 " new " dry white for enjoying today at lunch, this afternoon, at dinner, after dinner ... get the idea?

     I had Carlos sign some bottles of the ABADAL 5 Merlot that we had in stock while he was here as gifts for customers. Two people tried and bought them with Carlos' signed bottles here right on the spot. I think I only have one bottle left now and have already placed an order with Sotiris for more.

     I will write more when I can find my notes as I liked very much the reserva 2001 and have ordered that as well. Enjoy these pictures in the meantime. Gracias Carlos y hast luego nuevo amigo.   TONY
