Barton O'Brien, Owner of O'BRIEN FAMILY WINERY, Napa, CA. In-Store Tasting August 31st, 2006
It was great to get Bart into our store at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits Thursday ( 5-8 PM )August 31st, 2006 to do an in-store tasting of his reds ( Merlot and a red blend called " Seduction " and white Chardonnay. O'BRIEN FAMILY Vineyard ( 707-252-8463, fax: 707-598-2366 seductionwine.com obrienfamilyvineyard.com PO Box 6020 Napa, CA. 94581 ) welcomes people to come to their vineyard and experience a romantic evening with someone special in your life. Some of our customers have already been and told me about how much they enjoyed it. That's always good to hear it directly from the customer.
Bart came earlier in the the year 2006 and presented his wines and Mike Martin and I liked what we tasted so we ordered some immediately and some of all three wines had already sold well before this wine-tasting in the store. A number of our customers really liked the style of dry Chardonnay with a fair amount of oak tempered by a buttery taste. It sold the best with the 2003 Merlot following close behind. Because the 2004 " seduction " was quite a bit more pricey and more tannic it did not sell as well.
The " seduction " I read was described as " romance of the heart, passion of the soul ; a voluptuous wine with flavor and a velvet kiss ".
People love the packaging of the " seduction " red Napa dry Bordeaux-blend. You can see it on the round table in some of these pictures of Bart's in-store tasting that Thursday night, August 31st, 2006. Bart is also wearing a " seduction " black-collared shirt. Like the shirt the label's sleek, stylish, with gold and red and black, a red ribbon and a black leg-stocking trim bag to fit into ; what more could you want to set a certain romantic mood?!? I think it works and is fun and sexy, too. I don't think there are any plans to change this packaging. It has even been referred to in articles and written about repeatedly. The word is out about the " seduction ". My only comment is to say to wait and be patient for it to mature and be ready to drink before opening. When it's ready it's grand just as it was when Bart sampled it to our customers recently here in the store. It was either late 2007 or early 2008.
Bart wrote about his experience here at Cleveland Park Wines : " Great fun meeting you both and sharing wine with your customers! Look forward to a long relationship and mutual success. Warm wishes and best luck to you both ". Likewise Bart, both Mike and I wish the same for you.
We are happy to have Bart's wines in the store now. We are sold-out of both the Merlot and the Chardonnay ( October 20th, 2008 ) but still have " the seduction ". Call Mike Martin or me ( Tony Quinn ) at : 202-363-4265 to order or for more information.
Bart has now been at Cleveland Park Wines three times and is considered family. I am sure he will return again on his next visit to Washington D.C. In the meantime come by and get a bottle of the " seduction " for a special evening/occasion with someone really special in your life.
Here are some pictures of Bart in our store tasting our customers for the first time that eventful evening of Thursday, August 31st, 2006. Hope you like them. Cheers, TONY
