Great Evening Of French Vin De Pays Wines Here Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 5:30-8:30 PM , 30 + Wines, 8 Talented People Pouring, Many Customers

It was great to begin to shine some more light on these French Country wines that are satellites of the more famous wine-growing regions ( the Rhone, the Loire, Provence, Languedoc, etc ) and so we chose over thirty wines ( reds, whites, roses, a off-dry Gros Manseng ) and we had seventy or more people here tasting, learning and buying. ath eareas we covered were : Vin De Pays ( VDP ) Des Alpes De Hautes Provence, Du Gard, Du Vaucluse, Des Cevennes, De L'Herault, Du Jardin De La France, Des Coteaux Murviel, Des Coteaux Chartois, and Des Cotes De Gascogne. This was nine areas that we represented.

We also poured some other fairly obscure to most French wines from Fronton, Fitou, Cahors ( some of the " original " Malbec  ! ), Madiran ( with Tannat which is the grape the highest in Resveratrol, a natural substance that is good for us - our heart, keeps us thinner ). They were all well-received. We sold some of every type that we poured last night with the prices ranging fro $6.99 to $30 a bottle. I will include more specifics in another blog to follow soon.

We also played some great French music provided by Robert Cavanaugh and Vin De Pays Wines : it's called " Putumayo Presents FRENCH CAFE "  With songs like : Paris Combo ( Fibre de Verre ), Serge Gainsbourg " Marilou Sous La Neige ", Barbara " Si La Photo Est Bonne ", Enzo Enzo " Juste Quelqu'un De Bien ", Georges Brassens " Je M'Suis Fait Trop ", Jane Birkin " Elaeudanla Teiteia ", Coralie Clement " La Mer Opale ", Brigitte Bardot " Un Jour Comme Un Autre ", Baguette Quartette " En Douce " et Polo's " La Fee Clochette " and more. Fun. If you bought two bottles ourtaster/pourer Cathy would give everyone a CD to take home of this, as well as the gift orange travelling case to offer as a gift and for easy transport.  It felt fun and almost as if we were in France in the countryside with all this great VIN DE PAYS wine and music. The only thing missing was the food. We'll do better next time and have some bread at least.

As you can see in the photos a number of our customers came with their own glass tasting glasses to better enjoy the bouquet and the flavors therein of these marvelous wines that were all distinctly different from each other representing a full range of France's famous " terroir ". That is what it is all about : capturing these distinct terroirs in liquid form and enjoying them with your meal and friends, new acquaintances, family ....
