Emmanuelle Mellot of Alphonse Mellot Winery, Sancerre , France Here Fr. April 25th, 2008

Emmanuelle Mellot was here with the group of French vignerons represented by Elite Imports. Everyone was gathering for the Elite Imports portfolio tasting at Mio restaurant the following Monday here in Washington D.C. We did not know that she would be joining us. She was nice enough to pour the wines of MADER, Alsace that we intended to pour all along. The young wine owner from Mader was delayed because of his flight. So Emmanuelle poured both the 2006 Gewurztraminer ( like a Kabinett-style ), $21.99 - softer, rounder, less bite, less spice: great mouth-feel, so bright and smooth. She also poured the 2006 Riesling, $18.99 that was developing a touch of petrol to the bouquet and just a tinge of it in this more mineral, more assertive, dry Riesling taste. It would be a great match for many foods.
Emmanuelle also poured her own " La Moussiere " Sancerre, 2006 white 100% Sauvignon Blanc, $31.99 that is bolder, broader and more structured : fruit and all systems-GO and up-front and ready to rock both your boat and world! Our customers love this wine.
