French Vin De Pays Tasted Here Wed. September 10th, 2008 ; Photos Of Bottles/Labels & Names Of Wines Tasted

It sure was a fun, eventful, serendipitous evening filled with many smiles, happy palates and discoveries for all of us involved this past Wednesday evening here ( Sept. 10th, 2008, from 5:30-8:30 PM ) and you should also refer to the previous blog with those comments and pictures.

Here are the names of some of the wines as well as some of the pictures to make it a more complete experience for all of you. it's hard to remember so many wines ( around thirty or so ) and this will help if any of you still want to order these wines. Call Mike or Tony ( me ) here at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 202-363-4265 or email us at : sales @clevelandparkwine.com ) to order or inquire about any of these wines.

At TABLE NUMBER ONE with Nicolas Mestre we poured fro WILLIAMS CORNER WINE  1) Frank Peillot 2007 BUGEY Pinot read, $22.99 ( Bugey, France, www.louisdressner.com ),  2) MAUPERTIUS Vin de Table Rouge 2007 Gamay from Auvergne, $19.99  3) ERIC TEXIER 2006 Brezeme Cotes du Rhone Syrah 100%, $25.99  4) CHATEAU DU COING DE SAINT FIACRE, 2007 $8.49. These were just fun French wines that most people still do not know, especially the first two. Joe Dressner brings in a lot of obscure French regional wines and the first three are his and his wife's.

At TABLE NUMBER TWO with Olivia ( VOILA COLLECTION ) she poured four wines again :   1) Gaillac GINESTE " Cuvee Aurore " 2007, $18.99, a dry white blend of Mauzac and Loin de L'Oeil. I loved it, so distinct, unique, fresh.  2) Gallac red dry blend of Duras & Syrah from GINESTE " Cuvee Pourpre ", $18.99 - so smooth   3) MONLUC VDP de Cotes du Gascogne 2006 off-dry white made from the indigenous grape Gros Manseng. Delicious, balanced.   4) Vin De Pays ( VDP ) de Cotes du Thongue dry red blend ( Syrah, Carignan, Merlot ) from DOMAINE LA CROIX BELLE " Caringole ", $11.49 : nice balance and edgy spiciness.

At TABLE NUMBER THREE Ronnie Miller ( rep of Robert Kacher Selections poured with Lindsay's help- Washington Wholesalers ) six wines  1)  DOMAINE DE GOURNIER 2005 VDP Des Cevennes 100% Grenache Noir dry, flavorful, good extraction, $8.99   2) FAYEL dry rose- with Syrah and 30% Cabernet Franc which gives it a smooth, mild flavor, no bite -  VDP Du Gard from CHATEAU DES SOURCES, 2007, $9.99   3) DOMAINE DE GOURNIER 2006 dry white VDP Des Cevennes, $11.49 always a favorite here  4) LALANDE's 2006 dry velvety smooth, creamy-mc'dreamy Cahrdonnay from the VDP Des Cotes De Gascogne, $10.99  5) LA HITAIRE'S  " Les Tours " 3 grapes white blend of Ugni Blanc, Colombard Blanc & Gros, VDP Des Cotes De Gascogne Manseng, $8.99 - bristlingly dry like a brush-effect on your palate and throat- will wake you up!   6) DOMAINE ANDRE BRUNEL'S 2005 VDP De Vaucluse red Grenache dry red has so muach extra flavor for the ridiculously-low SALE price of $6.99.
