Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 In-Store Tastings / Marcie Tastes Aussie " Wallace " Ben Glaetzer / Rob Tastes DOLIN Vermouth, Italian & French Digestives

Another fun Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 here in Cleveland Park with Marcie Weinstein of Constantine Imports tasting some really special Aussie wines/ " Wallace " and HEARTLAND intriguing red and white blends ( that include Lagrein, Verdelho and many more ) made by Ben Glaetzer which included an excellent , dry white Pinot Grigio ( only the second one I have ever seen from Australia - the first being the YELLOW TAIL regular and Reserve bottling - I liked the Reserve very much when owner John Casella himself tasted it with our lucky customers a few years back - check that blog out here at : chatwine.blogspot.com ) and the " Wallace " dry red blend of.

I had just met Rob that used to work for Steve Maisel at the Wines Specuialist ( the old location at the corner of M Street and New Hampshire Avenue for the Mayflower where I used to work with Michael Downey and Sidney Moore ) and that was now working for a distributor that brings many rare and fun liqueurs and liquors to the Washington D.C. metropolitan are such as the violette and the Four Roses bourbons and more ). I questioned Rob about the DOLIN vermouth ( On Special for $12.99 ) and asked him why it was so good and worth the extra money? I told him that one of his colleagues swore that it was great and Rob offered to bring samples by and that's how it all started to click for me and then a tasting ( this one ) was arranged with our customers. It went really well for Rob and we sold a number of his three that were tasted today.

I'd be lying if in the picture above I said that I was taking the picture of these two young ladies beautiful vibrant and colorful ( filled with motion and excitement ) fabric choices for these dresses of theirs. True, I did like them, true I did the young ladies quite attractive dressed as they were, true, true, true, true ... the red, white, black and blue is quite amazing when you look more closely at it. Thanks ladies for helping to make my Saturday here in Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel:202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com facebook at : clevelandparkwine ) just that much better. Did you enjoy the various drinks that Rob made for you?

There was no beer tasting organized by Santos Rivera our beer specialist this Saturday but people were still looking at his excellent selection of micro-brews imported and domestic up front. We get lots of complements on these selections / and many sales as well.

The young lady up front is looking at the domestic selections, perhaps the DOGFISH HEAD or the BELLS / or another? Hard to tell from this picture.

Marcie, this guy was not going to stop and taste but you persevered and almost bullied him and it worked because he finally stopped to taste your wines. Bravo!

Rob where are you now? Come back and do another tasting for us. It's already Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 here at home in northern Virginia as I look back on my various " draft " blogs and I realize that I have not posted this yet. Oops!

Look at the two beautiful prints of fabric above : visually very stimulating and appealing : great contrasts, too.

This was just another really active and busy day with lots of people interacting and benefiting from contact here in Cleveland Park with one another. It's what we do : provide a stage for meaningful and enjoyable interactions to take place and for connections to be made.

We could not do it, however, without the full cooperation and help of our reps like Marcie and Rob and our customers that pick up quickly on what we are all about and get into the groove pretty quickly so as not to be left behind. Thanks everyone and enjoy Sunday, too. I'm getting ready to enjoy both Sunday and Monday as I have a delayed weekend starting on Sunday that includes both Sunday and Monday off. Cheers, TONY
