This was a fun tasting : four beers/ ales from OMMEGANG New York State ( Cooperstown, NY to be exact ): made in the rich, concentrated Belgian style that also spilled into a Burgundian style ( named after the rich Burgundy wines I believe ).
This was Friday, June 5th, 2009 and we had Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits packed with customers that were enjoying lingering and trying some of all the three concurrent tastings going on.
As well as the OMMEGANG New York beer/ale tasting we had open the CANTON Ginger liqueur with Devon pouring. We also had Sam Gessner of LVDH Imports pouring the Domaine du Barrail 2007 ( $9.99 ) white Bordeaux , the QUINTEN Sout Australia Shiraz 2006 ( $13.49 ) and the TOAD HOLLOW " Eye Of The Toad " 2008 dry Pinot Noir rose ( CA. $13.49 ). So things were hopping as you can see here in some of these pictures.
We tasted these OMMEGANG beers/ales : 10 OMMEGANG " rich, fruity, aromatic, burgundian-style ( 8.5% alc. ON SALE in the large bottle for $6.99 ) 2) the THREE PHILOSOPHERS ( 9.8% alc ON SALE for $6.99 in the large bottle ) , 3) the ABBEY-STYLE " Abbey Dubbel " " yielding a rich, fruity and aromatic Burgundian brew , also ON SALE for $6.99 in the large bottle ), and my favorite 4) the HENNEPIN ( again ON SALE for $6.99 in the large bottle ). It just had everything going for me and I did like the other three as well.
For me personally this was a great tasting and a big eye-opener for me. Thanks Santos for setting this tasting up. We sold lots and I think it was an equal treat for many of our customers in Cleveland Park,
I have lots more to add but it's time to go off to work to sell more wine and more OMMEGANG Belgian-style ales. Cheers ...
Enjoy these photos. cheers, TONY
