Here are some great photos that I took of this incredible one and a half-hour tasting at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits , Friday evening, May 22nd, 2009 with Aurelio Cabestrero ( importer, Pres. Of Grapes Of Spain, Lorton, VA. ) and winemaker Carlos San Pedro of PUJANZA winery ( Laguardia, Espana, 0141698- VI , Bodegas Y Vinedos ) in Rioja, Spain.
We tasted this evening the 2004 PUJANZA Rioja, $35.99 and the Dios ARES Crianza 2004, Rioja ( $18.49. For a white from Aurelio's portfolio we tasted the NESSA Albarino 2008, $16.49 ( Rias Baixas ). We also tasted the dry red Rioja that Carlos made to celebrate the birth of his son : it was great, too but not yet available to us here at Cleveland Park. I will include more about these wines shortly. Suffice it to say that they were all classic, well-balanced, elegant wines that will improve with more bottle agae as they come from the great 2004 vintage in Spain. No need to rush them, let them be another 2-5 years or more and open one bottle at a time to see how they mature and fill-flesh out wonderfully with age. The NESSA Albarino was a great warm weather quencher : so bright, fresh and smooth and appealing, with or without food.
