It was really a treat to finally get Rick Wasmund the owner here to taste his three Virginia products : the ever-popular Single Malt Whisky ( $27.99, Rick told me our price is ridiculously low! ) ; and the " new " Single Malt Spirit ( $16.99 ) and the Rye ( $16.99 ). He also brought with him the three small barrels to put both the Single Malt Spirit and the Rye into to make /age your own WASMUND'S. This is a pretty special idea as it draws you into the project even that much more and makes a player out of you. You become more committed and will probably do it all over again and tell your friends, too.I loved Rick's energy and enthusiasm and charm. It shows through here in all these pictures. It was fun and a real treat to be around him as he explained to many of our Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. We have supported WASMUND'S now for a year or so and the sales have been very strong. When we taste it ourselves in the store the remarks are always that of pleasant surprise and overall very favorful. We have all three products in the store now. They are all made in Sperryville, Virginia. We also have the barrels for sale so that you may age your own. The Single Malt Whiskey is sold at the Inn at Little Washington ( the famous restaurant ) which is not far from Sperryville.
It's now April 14th, 2009 as I write and finally post this. We just had Sean McCaskey ( Rick's partner ) here in the store this past weekend doing another successful tasting which I have just blogged about and posted.
