5/1/10 : Tasting Brennan Downey'sDI LENARDO Toh,Ronco Nole E FRACCHIA Terra Aleramo Barbera, & Kate Clugston's GOTHAM Barossa Cab/PUPPETEER Bubbly

This was a fun Saturday afternoon tasting as usual at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( Sat. May 1st, 2010 3-7 PM ) wine tasting with our customers. We had both Brennan Downey of Downey Selections pouring three Italian wines ( Max's DI LENARDO " Toh " Tocai dry Friuli white 2009 ( $13.49 and the dry red Friuli blend " Ronco Nole " of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco ; as well as Mauro's FRACCHIA Barbera " Terra Aleramo " 2008, $9.99 - also available in the magnum size at $15.49 ) and Kate Clugston , owner of GOTHAM and PUPPETEER South Aussie wines tasting both the " new " GOTHAM Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon ( $16.49 ) and the PUPPETEER Merlot, unwooded Chardonnay and Chardonnay sparkling wine with a Coke bottle-top closure ( all three $10.99 a bottle).

As these pictures will show we had a wonderful time and all the wines showed really well. Both Brennan and Kate helped each other pouring the others wines when necessary as people gathered around our tasting table.

Both Kate's PUPPETEER Merlot and unwooded Chardonnay showed really well and we sold some of both at the fine value of $10.99 a bottle.

We also had bread and cheese at this tasting and both Sheila and Nina commented on this as they have been asking us to serve some of both when we do our wine-tastings. It's a great idea and I am glad that I remembered this time.

Kate and the brunette by her side compare their tattoos here and I step in to pour some of Kate's wines while this happens as there are always people gathering around our tables and wanting to try what " wine goodies/selections " that we have. They expect this and we are more than happy to accommodate them.

Brennan pours some of Mauro's FRACCHIA 2008 " Terra Aleramo " Barbera here for Sheila. She bought some and brought her sister back to try some as she thought that their mother would really enjoy it. Is that for Mother's Day?

Nina came and tried all of the wines and they each bought some of both Brennan and Kate's selections. The sparkling PUPPETEER was a huge success as was the voluptuous and silky, full and generous " new " GOTHAM Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon ( $16.49).

Kate, how come you never showed us this tattoo? I can't quite make it out here : what's the inspiration - and what is it of?

Our brunette friend above here needed something Dutch for a party later this evening and so we found some GROLSCH beer for her and that was good. She liked the wines so much that she brought her boyfriend by later this evening to try them and fortunately I still had some to taste them on and so we had a mini version. That's always nice when people like the experience so much that they return with a friend to share it with them : or call them from the store to join them.

One of our favorite regular customers Jennifer bought some of both Kate and Brenna's wines to celebrate their 30th high school reunion later next week.

Seems like here looking at this picture above that the expression " no worries- no pains " applies here.
