John & Thersa Morrison Taste Their " New " Prohibition CAMBERLEY Red, DE MEYE Chardonnay & Dry Shiraz Rose 08, & The HILLCREST 2007 Sauv. Blanc7/25/08

This was really quite a special tasting and well-attended, too. John and Theresa Morrison, the owners of Boutique Wines Imports were at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel: 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ) to taste some of their " new " wines like Johnny's new CAMBERLEY " Prohibition " South African red blend( $19.99 ). That really showed well. Everyone seemed to gravitate to it pretty much immediately.

They also poured the new white " Landau " blend of three grapes ( 60% Chenin Blanc, 20% Viognier and 20% Sauvignon Blanc ) from BLAAUWKLIPPEN. It also showed really well with the heat and the humidity of last Saturday. It's so clean and crsip and bright and yet got a nice silky / velvety appeal to it that is neither sharp or hard to enjoy all by itself. It was a favorite.

From the DE MEYE winery in Stellenbosch we poured both the Chardonnay 2005 ( ON SALE for the ridiculously low price of only $6.99 ) and the 2008 dry Shiraz rose ( $13.49 ) that John Morrison said many times was the best yet from DE MEYE with this dry Shiraz rose. I loved it and could easily drink it with or without a meal. I , too loved the color as John did. He also mentioned it repeatedly.

The Morrisons also poured Curly's new 2008 dry Sauvignon Blanc from HILLCREST that had a wonderful citrus overtone as well as unmistakable jalapeno taste. It really showed once that the wine was properly chilled. It would be such a good food match when jalapeno peppers were ever included in a certain dish : like the Vace pizza down the street that often has jalapeno peppers added to the white onions and the other toppings.

It was a fun event and I have lots more to say. I also have more pictures to add here. But for the meantime enjoy these pictures and let them tell their story before I add mine later with further commentary. Cheers and stay-tuned for more really soon.

I think these pictures here already speak to the enjoyment and pleasure that both the wines , John and Theresa Morrison and the setting were providing to everyone lucky enough to have come during these four hours between 3 and 7 PM this past Saturday, July 25th, 2009.

Enjoy these photos that I took. Cheers, TONY
