Just spoke to Jim Reeves that will be here this Monday doing a really fun in-store wine-tasting of Portuguese wines that include those of QUINTA DO PINTO and also of their less-expensive LASSO wines , $14.99. The PINTO, $19.99 ... wine label incorporates internationally well-known grapes like Syrah and Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon along with the indigenous grape varieties like Aragones, Tinta Miuda and Touriga National. The LASSO wines use just the indigenous Portuguese grapes I listed here above. Come taste them side-by-side and see what you think with Jim this Monday from 4-8PM, no charge, everyone always welcome, February 9th, 2015.

We tasted these wines, the whites here last weekend with Jim and his wife, Jane from 2-6PM, now we will focus on the reds. What fun, something to try on for size, fit , feel and overall style appeal?!? You like, you not like?!?   TONY

1) MONTE DA GLORIA Vinho Regional Alentejano Estremox, 2012, $10.99, 13% alcohol by volume,  a delkicious ripe, fruit-forward, easy-sipping lush and vibrant blend of Aragones, Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira grapes, indigenous : lovely in one word! ...




 2) Colheita Selectionada European Atlantic West Coast Branco/ white Vinho Regional Lisboa flavorful dry white blend of  50% Fernao Pires and 50% Arinto, with more body and excellent for this colder weather as it has more of a base, and anyone into music and popular melodies knows : " It's all about the base. " I like this dry white a lot, also available in an equally dry, distinct and flavorful red, ....





3) Estate Collection of the European Atlantic West Coast , a dry and flavorful , with some oak, too blend of Viognier and, Sauvignon, Fernao Pires and Arinto, so some indigenous grapes, some international one : a marriage of the two, and a dry, flavorful complex white from Portugal to appeal to the modern palate and also to stand up to heartier and more robust and flavorful, spicy and hot dishes.





Wow, this will be a great tasting of Portuguese wines ... and :






4) 2011 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France made in the town and area Irancy just by Chablis in northern Burgundy. This Clothilde Davenne , $22.99 a bottle, 12.5% alcohol by volume, is the definition of elegance, lightness, airiness, brightness and breed and finesse where less is more, or so it would seem when you look at the light color and think you may hav been jipped! Then you taste this delightfull fresh and vibrant and uplifting Pinot Noir and you are transported to other realms and you start to smile largely and breathe so freely! Lovely, lovely, did I say it was LOVELY?!? It is, trust me ... I love it.
