Anthony Quinn Bloody hell : it's just a game! It does not define a country or it's people or anything else for that matter , and so I am picking up the pieces, picking myself up as I wanted Brazil to win the match yesterday and moving right along with even more focus, more direction and dedication and passion! I spoke with Kay Mallon yesterday when she stopped by the store to taste, and my message to her was simple and clear : BRING ME the wines of LIDIO CARRARO from Brazil's Serra Gaucha region to taste as I proudly showed her the Chardonnay on our shelves with the other wines of Brazil from SALTON and AURORA CELLARS, as I am currently out of the RIO/SOL dry red blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon that we like to sell. SO : MAKE ROOM WORLD for more LIDIO CARRARO, RIO/SOL. AURORA CELLARS ( their Pinot Noir is a delight at only $11.99 ! ), and SALTON HARMONIZA, of course. These are the wines of Brazil that I am able to buy these days and share with the world : I cannot find MIOLO, CASA VALDUGA and DON GUERINO these day that, I thought were available through Southern Distributors? Cheers, stay-tuned for more later today ... TONY 7/9/2014
Michael Cavanagh and I have really enjoyed our success at bringing the wines of SALTON HARMONIZA vineyards in Serra Gaucha Brazil to the attention of many that shop at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits in Northwest, Washington D.C., 20008 right in our nations' capitol. It has been one step at a time, one victory at a time, one person tasting and sampling at a time, and one sale at a time. That's okay, that's what constant, vigilant, persistent, hard-work is all about : not giving up even when staring into total disbelief, disinterest, little help, very little support, certainly hardly any commentary from anybody with either damnation or praise, or even acknowledgment for any of our efforts.
That's okay, we are used to it. We have both spoken and reached out to many, we have asked for help, we have asked for support, we have encouraged any participation, we have invited it : and yet there has been little if any response. People too busy, too self-absorbed, not seeing I guess the value or even any interest in what our mission is and what we are doing.
We have asked others to share what we are doing with their friends and colleagues, some have , many have not, at least from anything that we can see or measure.
That's okay, SALTON has at least invested the money for us to use their sample bottles to taste their wines with our customers, and for that alone we are eternally grateful. Mike and I have been both happy and thrilled to give our time, our expertise and our combined passions to make a real go of this. And we are, we have made great strides and we have done quite a good job I am happy to say. Lots more still has to be done, and there is plenty of time for others to come on board with us and help us get both the SALTON wines and the other wines of Brazil out there into the public's attention.
Even in this temporary defeat of losing a soccer game yesterday that will not dampen our enthusiasm for what we are doing here. Even with dampened spirits and dampened weather of last night we pushed forward and it was fun to taste and see the enthusiasm that we were able to get from many of our customers that still did not know Brazil made weine and that much of it was quite fine! And many of them bought bottles, across the board from the two espumante bottles, the three dry reds, the drier mostly Moscato, and the flavorful, rich, complex Chardonnay.
I will write more as time permits. Enjoy this for the moment " as is ', and stay-tuned for more'
I do want to say this is not about our efforts as much as it is about our belief in what we are doing and having a grand time together really getting both SALTON out there as well as Brazil and what it has to offer us all on so many wonderful levels and in so many incredible ways. Vais Brasil, vais Brazil!!
