This was a great tasting this early afternoon with FrenchmaN Antoine of DOMAINE ROUX in Burgundy, France - and this FABulous 2011 dry white Saint-Aubin which had so much clarity, personality, depth and longevity in the finish : it was quite amazing and really impressed Michel Dumas and me ( Anthony Quinn ).
Our local rep Damien LeHoux brought him earlier and they had twelve os so bottles for us to try starting with a white Bourgogne Blanc 2011- nice finesse and balance and lighter , clasic flavors,...
a Puligny-Montrachet that was just too intense and needed both food and time,
... an amazing Meursault 2011 that was bolder and less-defined, broader, too,
... and even more amazing 2011 Chassagne Montrachet that spoke volumes - what a monument, what a tower of flavors, still so young, needing food but wonderful ... - all white wines, ...
and then a closed, tight Mercurey Chalonaise red as we got into the Pinot Noir wines ...,
an open and fuller-fleshier Santenay 2011, ... I liked it -
a really impressive Vougeot with body, weight, character and good toasty robust elements, ...
and a sublime, elegant, polished, refined - DIVINE Chambolle Musigny that quite literally, along with the white Saint-Aubin blew me away!
