Barbara Rundquist, Owner Of DR. H. THANISCH , Mosel, Germany Tastes 3 Great Rieslings 9/17/10 Including The Doctor 5- 8PM/ Other German Owners@Ripple

It was great to have you here last night Barbara to taste your three German Mosel wines from DR. H. THANISCH : 1) the " Doctor "( $54.99 ), the 2) 2009 Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Kabinett ( $22.99 ) and the 3) 2008 Riesling " Classic " ( $19.99 ) : all from DR. H. THANISCH.

We had a great evening here and virtually sold out of everything we had, including all of the " Doctor " at $55.49 a bottle. I'd say that was a big success for us and I/ we are all thrilled that you could join us here to taste your wines with our customers.

Hans pictured here to the right has been talking about your visit to the store now for the last month or so and was delighted that you finally got here last night to taste with him and our other customers.

The wines showed beautifully as they always do and represent such great wines with so much energy/personality and versatility as to how they may be served and enjoyed.

That's Karin Fischer the owner of DR. FISCHER Mosel wines ( 2007 Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Qualitatswein, On Special for $16.49 ) that was here at the same time tasting her wines over at the " new " Ripple restaurant taking a picture of Barbara. They all are part of the Winesellers German portfolio of wines.

My problem is never what to buy but how much can I afford to buy for Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel:202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ). We will have to order now immediately from Arielle Monaco of the Country Vintner Imports. That will please everyone, most of all our customers that count on us having these excellent wines of Germany made from the incredible talented/ magical/ mighty/ multi-dimensional and magnificent Johannesburg Riesling grape.

Barbara knows that I take many pictures and she saw me this time so she nicely obliged and posed for me. Thanks Barbara.

Our tastings are always no charge and so was the one at Ripple restaurant three storefronts down from us. Dorothee Anheuser of PAUL ANHEUSER, Nahe Germany was also there with Karin Kisher and Derek Vinnicombe tasting a series of wines which included an excellent Pinot Noir white from Dorothee as well as Alice Fitz' excellent FITZ-RITTER sparkling dry sekt wine. It was all so much fun : people kept going between us and Ripple of this evening, the birthday of one of the owners of Ripple, Roger. Nice. Good vibes, good cheer, good wines, good people : what else can anyone want?!?

Barbara and the others have been coming here for eight or so years and will be back as a larger group in March of 2011 tasting their " new " releases with our customers. That will be good. It's become a tradition here for all of us in Cleveland Park. Barbara and the others have become part of our extended family. It's all good.

I am sure I have more to add but will post this now to get these pictures out for everyone to enjoy immediately. Cheers, TONY

Above is pictured Derek Vinnicombe of VINNICOMBE GMBH of German Estate Wines ( info@vinnicombe.de www.vinnicombe.de ) that came over from Ripple restaurant to say " hello " to Barbara Rendquist.

Thanks Arielle for all your hard work helping me set these tastings up with old friends like Barbara. In case you all do not know Arielle, she's the one one the right in the picture above and she works for Country Vintners that sells Barbara's wines. Together we work on these wine-tastings each and every time to piece them together in the best way that we can to showcase both the wines and their owner/ wine-makers. It's a blast and I think it's a win-win situation for one and for all.

Cheers and thanks again. See you in March of 2011 Barbara. And Barbara, the Berkastel Doctor sure was sublime earlier : so much buoyancy and texture and cushion and weaving of flavors and contrasts : just like a beautiful tapestry except with liquid golden sun flavors as seen/ as delivered from both vine/grape and roots : the sun's richness that touched the minerals and stones and dirt in the soil buried deep on hillsides by the Mosel river as well as all the elements above that the vine's leaves and grapes captured and held oh so nicely in each orb, each grape. Wow ... TONY
