Duncan MacGillevray, Founder of LONGVIEW Winery, Adelaide Hills, South Australia Tasting His New Releases, Monday February 25th, 2008 In Store

It was great to have Duncan with us here in our store on Connecticut Avenue, N.W. D.C. with us once again. Funny, Chris Pigott and I had just seen him four days ago at his vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia and here we were again so soon after together again! It sure is a small world. It was like we hardly had left and were reunited once again. It was such a great two-week trip that Chris and I had taken to Australia and just returned from. For more on that go to my other blog page called : chataustralia.blogspot.com. I'll be adding to that as I have time all the marvelous stories that I got while there. Duncan was instrumental in getting me there and for that I am eternally grateful. He sure was a marvelous host and made us feel welcome and at home at LONGVIEW.

Every visit that Duncan makes to the Washington D.C. area he comes and tastes with our customers. He's a great promoter and on this evening we were promoting his 2005Cabernet Sauvignon, his " Yakka " Shiraz 2006( $27.49), his Viognier white, dry Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc as well as his BLOCK #3 Shiraz and his Nebbiolo. We may have even poured the Red Bucket 2006 Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon ( $14.49 ) and his white Semillon Blanc/Sauvignon Bkanc 2006, $14.49. It was quite the show and spectacle. Duncan was jet-lagged and still was at the top of his game. He never missed a beat. He's a seasoned pro and I admire him for that. The LONGVIEW wines sell fro between $17 and $28 for the most part. I'm typing from home and don't have all the prices here to share with you. Callus at the store at Cleveland Park Wines and Spirits for the prices : 202-363-4265. We carry the full range of the LONGVIEW wines. If we are out we will be happy to order them for you.

What I like about the LONGVIEW wines are their consistency, whatever they produce they do it with style, finesse, polish and always consider the foods that they will accompany. They are not fruit bombs, they are not just alcohol. They are world-class wines that compete really well in their categories and I love their overall balance and versatility. There's something pretty much for everyone and they are very affordable for the quality, extra that they always deliver. I cannot say enough positive things about them and Duncan and his " new " partners. I see a bright future ahead for LONGVIEW. It's a great place to visit, too. Those rolling hills of Adelaide are to steal for, to live for, to dream for, to perhaps rob for - just not to die for. You want to be alive to fully experience LONGVIEW!

Here are some of the evening's photos with customers like Harry, Bill, Joyce, Nick, Luke, Mary-Shannon,Nancy, Jerry, Sebastian, his wife and child, and more all crowding around at some point to get another taste! Cheers to you Duncan and your fabulous wines! To you, too Chris Pigott for really helping to get me to Australia! TONY
