Mother's Day May 10th, 2009 In Northern Virginia On Our Deck With Pate, Crackers & MONTEDELMA Franciacorta " Saten " Lombardy Sparkling - Oh Yeah!

This was a great late afternoon out on our deck, just my wife and me and occasionally joined by our son. Everything was warm and dry and lush, verdant green overhead with a canopy of bursting/unfurling leaves as well as a fresh moved lawn and irises in yellow bloom and Dutch irises in hot pursuit.

The MONTEDELMA ( www.montedelma.it info@montedelma.it Tel : +39 030 2620152 - 2620220 ) was a bit closed-in at first and a touch out of step with the intense pate. That was perhaps my mistake as a combination. Later on it's own it fully blossomed and shown. It became more complex and interesting and what I remember tasting the recent two times just before with friend and importer Alessandro Furlan who was just here for the Michael Downey annual portfolio tasting.

I hope you like these pictures : more on the artsy side in most cases. We have the MONTEDELMA at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel: 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ) where I manage the wine department.

AS you can see there are still small tubs of flowers that need to be planted from our excusrsion to buy a whole lot of colorful annual Mother's Day flowers. We were successful, too. My wife got most of them into the pots around our deck : only these few remained, provoding nice color and a backdrop for our feast outside. Cheers, TONY
