MAKE MORE GREAT " Value '  CHOICES @ CLEVELAND PARK Wine & Spirits!

sorry about the government still closed today on the 13th day!

HERE'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SAVE & LEARN at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. We're making it even easier this year 2019 as we focus completely on ' values ' to help you save save save save SAVE!

Stocks down, gas prices going up, good thing we are looking NOW for wine and spirits to have our prices going down. That is our mission, we will work hard on this all year long, starting today with conversations with our local reps Tom, Franceen and Narayan so far.

JUST SAID ' thanks ' to Jamie Carr that works for Republic National Distributing Company as he switches from selling to stores to selling to restaurants. He served us well and Jagir said that he would miss him. Good luck Jamie, your hard work will continue to pay off!

JUST HAD a young gentleman about to get married this weekend that came here to stock up on spirits to put in his parents' hotel room - a bigger budget he said than usual, with a slight smile, as he said his parents were paying for it!

BLAINE that works at the Zoo will probably not be by today and so I give a ' shout out to you Blaine for taking suck good care of the animals down the street! '

THE NEWS is all about the shutdown.

I HAVE TO FOCUS on what we can do so here is my plan I came up with early this morning -

Big Theme Wine-Tasting of ' Under $13 Wine Values ! " Taste 20+ and get some real savings as you wonder when and if you will be paid.
Just in the rough stages so far, both Franceen and Narayan have agreed to come and pour here, and so we will have a great event. WE are also in the process of talking to Kevin the owner of his very own fine French vodka made in Cognac, France called @BlackleafVodka ! We hope he will be able to join us and make a cocktail at the end of the wine-tasting to top things off just right!
Franceen will pour great Italian values,...
Narayan will pour ' all other ' values  AND
Kevin will make a BlackLeaf French vodka cocktail to finish

THIS IS WHERE we stand so far, I will write about the wines next Tuesday as it will have all come together by then, SO

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 5:30-8:30PM, and JOIN US! WE can celebrate all that there is to celebrate then, and as we get closer to the 9th we will pick our pick for the person or group that we feel we need to honor as we taste here. Any suggestions? Please let us know?

THANK YOU Michael Robinson for bringing us your calendar for the year that we use here to book our wine-tastings. I saw it this morning when I arrived and I smiled big as it sure is a welcome gift that we enjoy using and sharing here with everyone. Grazie Michael!
BY THE WAY MIchael works at the Smithsonian and helps there, is on the floor in the galleries and may do tours, too? I guess he was not yesterday I suppose and able to drop his calendar off here?

47 degrees as I continue and wade through the news on the radio -

I WILL FOCUS on our ' Great Values ' here NOW in the store for you -

THEY WILL BE MIXED here in all categories --

1) LUKSUSOWA Potato Polish vodka, 1.75ml bottle On Special for $18.99 - a great deal for a great vodka that has been here for a long time and stood the test of time repeatedly over the years! Highly recommended.

2) ' Le Reve ' 2008 DOMAINE CARNEROS  by TAITTINGER, On Special for $74.99, the best price we found anywhere was $100 a bottle! Again ' highly recommended ', what a marvelous treat to enjoy as you celebrate in celestial and wondrous style! Only a few bottles remaining!

TWO great Irish whiskey ' Values ' :

1) 2GINGERS from LILBEGGAN CO. Distilling, On Special for $19.99 ( regularly   $24.99 a bottle ), smooth, elegant, bright, a real silky treat - highly recommended.

2) CLONTARF 1014 Classic Blend that is gently aged  in Bourbon barrels , On Special for $23.99 ( Regularly $27.99 ) : a more fiery style like a fine Bas Armagnac versus a fine Cognac! Highly recommended.

THREE Fine Sake Wines - 3 different sizes, too :

1) BAN RYU Glorious Mt. Fuji , 300ml bottle On Special for $12.99, regularly $17.99 a bottle, Joto sake from Japan, Eiko Fuji Brewing - a real treat, again highly recommended!

2)  SHICHI HON YARI Junmai, bottled by Tomita Brewery, Shiga-ken, Japa, this 720 ml bottle is On Special for $19.99 and the best price we found anywhere else was $26.99! I personally love this as it is a smooth and creamy, bright and soft as I have tasted - loved it. Some have said it was a tad too fruity for them, I found it ' just right ! ' Come get some before it is gone, great to sip all by itself. It also keeps once open and does not oxidize and go off. ALSO : it has no sulfur and so does not cause those related headaches. A win-win all around.

3) O Junmai 1.8ml size bottle is On Special for $29.99 instead of $44.99 a bottle. " This Junmai is rich and solid with hints of fruit and a light acidity in the finish. Serve chilled, room temperature, or warmed with grilled meats, nutty cheese, barbecue or hearty Japanese food. ... Every sake rice grain has a center, the ' Shinpaku " or " white heart " where all of the starches are concentrated," Highly recommended, and already a big hit with our seasoned sake drinkers!

4) 2014 Chenin Blanc from the " Vusani Series of the HOUSE OF MANDELA, On Special for $17.99 : a creamier, dreamier, silkier and delightful lulling and rocking medium-bodied white to simply sip and enjoy and revel at how wonderful it is to be aaaahhhhhh alive!

5) Merlot Napa Valley 2013 from TWOMEY,, with 14.6% alcohol by volume, here On Special for $29.99 ( made by Silver Oak ), this is already now half-off, a real gem to buy and save or enjoy now!

6) Grenache 2013 " El Diablo Vineyard ' from the JEFF COHN Cellars, On Special for $29.99 ( regularly double this price ), from the Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, like a French Chateuneuf-du-Pape, this is another gem basically half-off already! These are some treasures to buy and enjoy or save until you have a great event to celebrate! Highly-recommended.

THREE Really Fine CA. Pinot Noir wines -

1) Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2014 from TWOMEY, On Special for $19.99 a bottle ( regularly more than double this price ), with 13.8% alcohol by volume, this is a real treat - what a deal, what a find, what a discovery - oh yeah, get these few bottles still here.

2) " Shell Ridge " Sonoma Coast 2015, from LA CREMA, On Special for $32.99 - rich, full, highly-extracted, something to warm you in this cooler, damper weather now.

3) " Fog Veil " Russian River Valley 2015 from LA CREMA, On Special for $32.99 - another steal of a wine, what a deal, what a treat to enjoy with a tasty meal to give you all the strength and flavor you need to shine in any weather, any place, time and emotion!

NANCY PELOSI returns to her job today, it was just announced here over the radio.

Trash is building up in our national parks and that is disturbing.

I HAVE BEEN READING four books :

1) One by Andy Warhol called " From A To B and Back To A " that is brilliant! On the tenth or so page B is talking to A and saying something to the effect , I am paraphrasing - You should run for President, you would be perfect, you would get another person to be president for you while you feed them your thoughts and more, right ? And A responds that that is right and that is what he would do. AND SO MUCH MORE - you have to get a copy and read this, so perfect for the moment.

2) " Just Kids " by Patti Smith in her early New York days is brilliant. I am loving it, too. She talks about someone stopping her to talk to her and says that he represents the new poet in New York where she represents much of New York that does not exist anymore. I can feel that sentiment as in August of two year's ago I walked down three or four blocks of New York city with my son and as I looked at the buildings I could see their histories splattered all over them, much in complete disarray and neglect and forgotten to most for the most part - true , real and sad, too.

3) William Shatner's book that also compels me to read on as I loved him as Denny Crane with Alan Shore, and he says about that actor that he was the first man he kissed?!? On the show of course, on their balcony as lawyers as they smoked their cigars and drank their single malt scotches after a busy day of lawyering. I loved it, to all you lawyers out there - cheers. Am enjoying this book, too.

AND : my wife gave me a hardback book with all the covers of Rolling Stone magazine. As my wife said to me about this gift yesterday : " I knew you would love some of the pictures and that for many of the others you would have plenty to say. " Boy she knows me to a " T " !

SAW " Mary Poppins " and loved it at the Arlington Draft Movie House in North Arlington, VA. And just now with our customer saying that she loved it but that Dick Van Dyke stole the show , I have to agree with that. She went on to say that in an interview he said that he dances every day - and at 93. " That should be a lesson to each and everyone of us.Highly recommended.

CHEERS again, come by and see us. We are doing everything to lower prices and buy everything right so we save you your precious money.    TONY
