IT SURE IS A TUMULTUOUS ( Good ) TIME HERE IN CLEVELAND PARK with so
many " new " items in all categories, sizes ad shapes : bottles and boxes
and pretty much you name it and it is rolling through our back doors and
onto shelves and floor displays ( as well as our new racks ) these days.
it's hard to keep up with it when you add into all this our dinners,
special wine guests as well as others. Just last week for example we had
Amir Peay ( President of JOHN L. SULLIVAN Irish Whisky " The Sporting Man's
Whiskey " amir@JohnLWhiskey.com , 301 518 3016 here in the store tasting
his " new " Irish Whiskey with us. It had just been delivered an hour
before he arrived. That's what I call timing: it sure was smooth and had a
classic flavoring and taste that I think will do really well here at $22.99
a bottle.
LOOKS LIKE OUTSIDE THEY CITY IS PUTTING IN HANDICAP-FRIENDLY RAMPS
alongside the parking so that people with handicaps may better get in and
out of their cars.
STATEMENT OF OUR PURPOSE / SERVICE Follows :
OUR DOORS ARE ALWAYS OPEN, everyone is always welcome here even when
we seem to be at our rope's end which is a lot these days.
WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND US and so we are always happy
to receive new reps and owners and those that create all these liquid
libations that figure so keenly into the fabrics of some of our lives -
something for everyone hopefully.
WE WANT TO BE AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE - PROACTIVE, BEING THE FIRST
to bring you whatever is out there.
WE WANT TO BE THE PEOPLE PICKING UP THE PIECES OF REALLY GOOD DEALS

WHEW! I REALLY GOT ROLLING THERE: I hope that you don't mind. I
just wanted to put it all out there in case there were any questions or
doubts on anyone's minds as to where we stand.
THE BESTS WINES / ALCOHOLS :
BEER:
1) LONG HAMMER India Pale Ale ( $7.99 a 6-pack of 12 ounce bottles
, " liquid goodness since 1882 " is made by RED HOOK and we are happy to
offer it to you all.
CIDER :
1) DOG'S DRAFT " Hard Pear Cider " The Great American Drink " ( On
Special $5.99, 22fl.oz. 5.5% alc by volume, ) is made from " pressed NY
state apples, fermented with champagne yeast and malic acid ". Nice.
2) DOC'S DRAFT , Doc's Framboise Hard Apple Cider ( On Special
$5.99, 22fl. oz, 5.5% alc. by volume, ) is " fermented with red raspberries
, made from fermented NY apples and champagne yeast and malic acid to
excite the action " and the palate I would imagine.
LIQOUR :
1) BLACK BOTTLE Scotch Whisky ( $20.99 ) is " carefully crafted
with a heart of Islay malts, this is a smooth, well-balanced and rewarding
blend " - ( 40% alc. by volume ).
2) Grappa Trentina " Koralis " Riserva Barrique 24 Mesi
G.BERTAGNOLLI ( $46.99 ) is some of the best grappa that Mike and I have
tasted in quite some time. We tried this the other day with Jim Hutton of
Vias imports. It's smooth, clean and not burning : lots of body and
character and less burn and astringency.
3) " Grappino " Grappa Brandy ( liter, $30.99 ) is a great, great -
did I mention - GREAT DEAL as it has no burn, nothing raw or harsh or
bothersome. It's bright sunshine filtered through the must of the grapes
and it's pure, fresh, bright, smooth and lively. Wow! Impressive for a very
reasonable price ...
4) Pisco , Peruvian made with the Quebranta grapes that are reputed
to be the very best when making pisco. This one sells for $23.99 and might
have been of the ones that was just singled out recently in the Washington
Post's Wednesday Food/Wine & Spirits section. It's brand new for us here.

winery in McLaren Vale, Australia and all his wines tasted are here for

Austrian, South African and Spanish wines are also all here for sale. They
all showed well this past Saturday here in the store.

1) CASA PETREO 2008 Viura & Sauvignon Blanc Spanish white blend,
$7.49 is a great new discovery for us and we are thrilled to have it here
now.
2) DYNAMITE Vineyards 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Lake Country, CA,
$10.49 is smooth and bright and lovely. Justin tasted this here this past
Friday with our customers.
3) R. H. PHILLIP'S " Night Harvest " Chardonnay, $5.49 and red
Cabernet Sauvignon, $5.49 are fabulous balanced, flavorful grand values for
everyday drinking! Love it, love this!
4) NATURA 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon , Valle Central and 2008 dry
white Sauvignon Blanc from Chile's Valle Casablanca are organic, $9.99 and
delicious everyday values, too.
5 ) Domaine Alain Patriarche Meursault " Le Bois de Blagny " dry
white is ON SALE for $18.99 and a fabulous deal from a great year for those
that understand mature white burgundy. What a steal!

Robert Whale of the ROBERT WHALE Selections here to taste some of his
fabulous cold-climate reds and whites from Australia.

piano and together there's a closeness, an intimacy and an edge that really
spoke to me. I guess I do like at least one ABBA song. Filming in Greece
with good actors made it a pleasant experience to watch but hearing her
sing this song at the end blew me away .... TONY
