I hope I have got this right because here is a copy of Malcolm's video that he shot of his time getting to Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits , being there and doing his tasting of the Spanish wines including a Don Quixote red ( young , fresh, bright Tempranillo 2007 and 2008 white ( Chardonnay, dry, clean, stainless -steel ), a 2001 Reserva red and a lovely Veredejo, too. We had a grand time and our customers loved these selections from International Cellars. They usually do as the portfolio that they have put together is quite impressive and often very value-oriented ; as well as being a whole lot about the wine of the are from which it comes from, the integrity of that are and the wines it best-produces. I like all of this.
We had Danielle de L'Ansee in not too long ago ( go to her blog entry here by typing her name and Loire Valley, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc ) and you will see the pictures that I took of that tasting on a weekend at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue, N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ).
I loved the couple of sentences on Malcolm's Facebook " Fan Page " site that said that something to the effect that wine is not business but personal. I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment as it mirrors mine 120%. It's personal selling and best representing wine and the meals and events and the special occasions that it will play it's part in making the whole a grand success. You have to consider all the particulars and give the best advice or opinion or information that you possibly can because it's about more than simply the wine's big scores or the hype and pomp and circumstance that people advertise or drum up about the wine. That doesn't or should not matter at all if the wine(s) are not right for the specific meal or occasion.
It's also about the pure enjoyment of the wine. Sharing the moment and hopefully living it fully - a personal commitment and fully worth one's efforts. You just have to believe this and get past all the rest : hard to do but simple as that.
Thanks Malcolm for making this video of your moment in the late afternoon/ Early evening of Friday, September 18th, 2009 as you came, tasted and left Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. It's great to see part of the drive to the store in the daylight as well as landmarks like the Uptown movie theater across the street in both daylight and at night later as you leave. A nice vignette that tells a story in moving images with some good music to keep the pace going and one's attention alert and involved. Good work, bravo.
Malcolm used to be our salesperson at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits and then Antonio Cabibi took over. He was unable to do this tasting last Friday and so we had Malcolm come once again and take his place. As a result we now have this fun and exciting video to share with everyone.
I think seeing this that I will be learning from Malcolm some valuable things as I hope he has done the same from me. It's nice to collaborate and to benefit mutually from that.
To the future and for what it holds separately for both you and me Malcolm and thanks again for this lovely video.
Enjoy this all of you out there and do come to the store and check out our web page and my other blogs ( go to the View Complete Profile on this page and click it and then scroll down to see all my other blogs on art, poetry, qynothna and all the countries that I have visited for the wine ) as well as Malcolm's ( J.Malcolm Riddle wine consultant Facebook ).
Cheers, TONY
PS : below is the link that you will have to paste I suppose to see this clip or just go to Malcolm's page and click it on there. I'm trying to figure out how to have it here on this page and hope to accomplish that soon.
