THESE ARE VERY BUSY TIMES HERE AT CLEVELAND PARK WINES & SPIRITS as
they are all over the world. We are like an oasis, a watering hole for many
types of waters, spirits , and we hope we offer a great place to relax and
enjoy and collect our thoughts, as that is paramount. We need more places
like this as there is so much hustle and bustle and panic and sometimes
rage and anger , and most of all, so much frustration as we pose to
ourselves. mostly privately, : " Why are things this way? Why is is this
happening to us, why to me?!?
SO : we offer a respite, an oasis, a place to let loose some of the
steam and the stress and the at sense of ever-present lack of recourse. How
can we make a difference, how can we help?
WE TRY to help you all to smile and to stop and enjoy the moments that
we can offer and share. some together, some that we help you enjoy later
when at home after you leave here with whatever may be to your liking or
wants/needs?!?
IT'S A BIG WORLD, hard to grasp, hard to keep up.
AS I GET YOUNGER WITH AGE I like to say and smile as I say it, I feel
the pressure that is ours collectively these days, it is there, no matter
what stage in life we are at, we all have our burdens to deal with , our
causes, our callings, our missions, our goals and dreams , concerns and
appetites and thirsts, too! I am dedicating this email to two older ladies
that are very important in my life, Sis and Nanda, two wonderful ladies
that are getting on and that life has been good to, that have contributed
to their families, communities, friends, and that have my / our love, just
as you all have similar stories and situations to deal with.
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, and there is still always a lot to do,
never gets easier really, so we have to stick together.
SO SANTOS, What Ales and Beer do you have for us all today?
1) Helles Ochlenferla Lagerbier from the Brauerei Heller Bamberg ,
seit-since 1678, product of Germany, $4.99 a 1 Pt. .0 Fl. Oz bottle, with
4.3% alcohol by volume, : " 'Schlenkerla Helles ' is brewed with fine
Bavarian aroma hops and lagered in century old caves underneath the
historic Schlenkerla brewery and maltings. It is boiled in the same copper
kettles and bottom fermented by the same yeast as the historic Schlenkarla
Smokebeer... "
2) Celebrating Our 30th Anniversary Imperial Stout from BELL'S
Brewery, Inc., Comstock, MI, On Special for $3.99, a 12 Fluid ounce bottle,
with 11% alcohol by volume, : " ... this big, bold stout honours all that
has gotten us to this point- hard work, authenticity and our commitment to
quality. ... " Try some.
3) No additives, no preservatives, Best Extra Stout from COOPER'S
BREWERY, Australian made, Australian owned, since 1862, Kosher Pareve, from
South Australia, $11.99 for a 6-pack of 12.7 Fl. Oz bottles, ... " ...
using the centuries old top fermentation method and natural bottle
conditioning, resulting in a characteristic fine sediment forming on the
base of the bottle. This sediment is completely natural and can be gently
mixed before drinking or poured carefully leaving the sediment in the
bottle. " Sounds like a great plan, sounds like a lovely extra stout to
enjoy these colder days now!
TIME For Liqueur/ Liquor From Jagir & Malkit :
1) SUZE Saveur d'Autrefois , a 1 liter bottle , $30.99, with 20%
alcohol by volume, since 1889, : " ... we have been making SUZE with the
strictest respect for tradition : fresh wild gentian, carefully selected and
aged over a long period, is then macerated and distilled in a still. ... On
the palate, the fresh gentian gives rich, subtle and intense flavours,
followed by subtle and intense flavours followed by floral and citrus
notes, while the clean bitterness offers a hint of spice. " Must try some,
all of us try some, soon!
2) Vodka Infused with Cognac, TWENTY GRAND, On Special for $25.99,
this is ' new and exciting ', we will be tasting this here on Friday, Oct.
30th, free, no charge! Come and tastw with us and see how you like a French
cognac blended with vodka ?!?
3) Tequila Puro De 100%v Agave Azul, from the Familia CAMARENA , On
Special for $22.99, a fine price, come buy on and see how it tastes to
you?!
4) Liberator Gin from the VALANTINE Detroit Distilling Co.,
hand-crafted American Gindistilled in alembic bottles with nine
botanicals, On Special for $33.99 a bottlem with 42% alcohol by volume,
.... New and Exciting, ... " With two alembic distillations, we impart
bold flavors with maceration, while delicate profiles are infused using
specially designed botanical vessel. The result is a balanced,
multi-layered gin, beginning with soft juniper, carried through with
cardomon and coriander, finishing with cinnamon," Yummy it would seem!
WINE By Chris And Tony :

1) Pinotage 2013 from South Africa's Swartland region, since 1941,
made by RIEBEEK CELLARS, this $7.99 dry smooth red has just enough pepper
and spice and taste to make it quite delightful, and so amazingly
affordable, too! I tasted it on Sunday for a bridal shower that I hosted
and it showed really well.
2) Dry Rioja red from ALTOS On Special for $9.99 a bottle, with 13.5%
alcohol by volume is showing really well. Chris and I tried it recently
with Jeff Palmer and decided immediately that we had to have it back!
Smooth, polished, bright, good spice and definition, showing fabulously,
classically for only ten bucks! Wow, love it!!!
3) White Borges Oporto/port, $11.99, with 19% alcohol by volume is
drinking beautifully. I sampled it twice this Sunday, again for the bridal
shower I hosted for twenty-two women. I tasted it by itself to be sure it
was okay after I pulled the cork, and as we were running out of time and
the Mango cake was being served I said : " Let's add a splash of the BORGES
white port to our dry sparkling Spanish Cava from Rossinyol De Moragas,
$16.99 a bottle. It will complement better the richness of the Mango and
other fruit flavors. " And it did, and in doing so, we created something I
never hear anything about but which works well with sweets, putting a
splash or two or three of BORGES white port into some of the ROSSINYOL De
Moragas espumante Cava : what fun, what cheer, what a great sense of
discovery and making things work on the spur of the moment. Love it. It
also tastes great on it's own, and also with tonic water, it makes a great
summer drink with some crushed ice in the glass, perfect to chill you down,
or to warm you up, depending on how you serve it.
4) Moschofilero 2013 from FTERI , Arcadia, Greece ( Nassos just
dropped this off, says there are five producers and this is one of the best
) from the TROUPIS Winery, $15.49 a bottle, 12.5% , and made from 100%
Moschofilero grapes.
5) 90% Mandalaria and 10% Mavrotragano , 13% alcohol by volume, ...
this dry red ' Atlantis ' from the ESTATE ARGYROS on Greece's island of
Santorini, a 2012, is a delight to enjoy now and I highly recommend it to
you all. I just tasted the dry white this past Sunday and would recommend
it here, I do recommend it, but I only have three bottles of it, so I
highly recommend that you come and buy a bottle of the red and the white,
and even the rose and make a special party and occasion with these
wonderful three Atlantis wines that I have! Cheers!
6) ' Palazzina ' 2013 Sangiovese Superiore from TENUTA CASALI , $18.99
a bottle, with 13.5% alcohol in it, ... this unfiltered dy and elegant and
toasty, lovely roasted dark and bright berry-flavored Italian red from
Romagna is a pure delight, I really like it, I do, it is a fine wine to
enjoy with your meal, you will like it, a treat, and under $20! And you may
taste it here this Saturday with family member Sylvia that will be here
tasting it with Robert Kennedy from 2-6PM. Come taste, get a bottle signed,
enjoy, live a little, live as little gloriously now, in the moment, why not
, what are we all waiting for?!?

7) Spanis Cava from ROSSINYOL De Moragas, the Brut dry, $18.99, with
12% alcohol by volume is showing magnificently and I do highly recommend
it. Come try some, a bright utter delight sparkling Spanish cava from the
Penedes region. Cheers!
8) Le Grand COURTAGE Brut sparkling wine from France will be tasted
here tomorrow from 5-8PM by Erin. It is still On Special for $19.99 a
bottle, and we will taste it again to share it's pure brightness and joy
with you, with only 11.5% alcohol by volume, it is a Blanc de Blancs to
really celebrate in an easy and comfortable way!
9) ' Baruccia ' 2011 Sangiovese Superiore Romagna, Italian red from
TENUTA CASALI has more body and depth and gravitas than the ' Palazzina ' I
wrote up earlier here. It is a fine food wine, a really fine wine to be
enjoyed with one of your meals to warm and cheer and make you feel as if
you can move on and along and feel good and even a bit rested and pleased
as you do! Imagine that, imagine this fine ' Baruccia ' touching your lips
and all your thirsty, parched taste-buds, too. Silvia Casali will also
taste this here this coming Saturday, Oct. 24th, 2015 , a free tasting as
always, with Robert Kennedy, join us!

10) 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State's Columbia Valley,
from MURRAY, $22.99 a bottle, with 14.1% alcohol by volume, this is a
deeper, thicker, denser , more modern mouthful and taste that hits harder,
and where the punch lands right on your taste-buds forcefully. No holding
back here, robust and hearty Cab flavors for a meal, like something grilled
outside, some barbecue with a tasty sauce, too.
11) SHVO Vineyards 2011 Sauvignon Blanc from Israel's Upper Galilee,
$34.99, with 13.5% alcohol by volume is showing really well, so flavorful,
so rich, so thick and viscous and hearty and rolling-bold-flow-fleshy and
flirting and flaming warm and tasty! I loved it last night as we celebrated
Galeet's birthday party at our home last night where I grilled salmon and
also made a fresh batch of pesto, with pasta, salad, the works! Nothing was
holding or held back, least of all the wine : a shining star that is from
Israel but not kosher. Galeet recognized the wine when she saw it, smiled
and said that she had been there, as she described it : " a part of
paradise here on earth. " Now I definitely need to go as I love the wines.
She said that it is a valley really packed with the various fruits grown
there, lush and verdant and packed, memorable to her, very.

WE JUST HAD A GUEST VISIT from Miguelangel Cerda come and taste his
fabulous Mallorcan dry white QUIBIA made from the red grape Callet but
without the red color, but all the flavor of Callet, and the AN and the AN
2 , I liked the AN 2 best as it is much lighter, a 2013 that is readier to
drink than the 2010 AN which needs another 5-10 years for me! Wonderful
expressions of these wines, we will add the QUIBIA which is an imaginary
place created in their minds, I would go there, the dry white Quibia takes
me there! Gracias Miguelangel!
