TODAY : GREAT Greek Wines Tasted By SOTIRIS BAFITIS that , in my humble opinion , helped to put a Face to Greek wines here in our region as well as on the East Coast when he opened his own import company SOTIRIS BAFITIS Selections. How great was that! SO : today, Saturday September 7th, 2013 from 2-6PM Sotiris Bafitis will lead us through a FABulous selection like :
     1) 2006 Private Collection Antonopoulos dry red, $21.99, 14% alcohol by volume, from the ANTONOPOULOS Vineyards , Patras, Greece ,  
     2) DIOfili SIATISTA Winery, a 2012 dry rose made from a blend of 85%Xinomavro and 15% Moschomavro ( protected Geographical Indication Siatista ), $14.99. The average of these old vines is 70 years! That in itself is amazing! Their height above sealevel is 800 meters. Go to : www.diofili.gr for more info. Michel Dumas and I loved this wine immediately upon tasting it. I was even fortunate enough to taste it with my wife and Sotiris at lunch here in Washington D.C. at one of the finest , best, most enjoyable-memorable luncheons ever!
     3) 2010 dry red indigenous grape called Agiorgitiko, from Nemea and made by MITRAVELAS ESTATE, $25.99, 14.5% alcohol by volume, " matured for 12 months in newook French casks and rested for at least 12 months in it's own bottle. Bottled unfiltered.
     4) 2011 Dry white blend " Adoli Ghis " from ANTONOPOULOS Vineyard, Patras, Greece, $21.99, 12.5% alcohol by volume : this dry mineral-laden, charged, flavorful, distinct, lively and intense, DISTINCT and great food- shellfish dry white literally blew Michel Dumas and Anthony Quinn - me AWAY! Thrilled to have it, not really much better anywhere : world-class,  " the best of the best! "
     5) : Red On Black " 2012 dry red indigenous Agiorgitiko from Nemea and made by the MITRAVELAS ESTATE, $14.99, 13.5% alcohol by volume,  : " the caring vinification of this gentle variety gave a fruity & balanced wine. " We agree, it's a FABulous everyday, anytime, everywhere CROWD-PLEASER!
