We have and sell the BUTY Washington State wines at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 tel;202-363-4265 anthony.quinn@clevelandparkwines.com, also on Facebook at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ). Here at the annual Kysela Pere Et Fils et Fille " new " warehouse in Winchester, Virginia we have tasted with the owner of BUTY ) pronounced : beauty ) his wines including his excellent dry white Semillon blend.
We sell a selection of these BUTY wines as they were all excellent, balanced, focused, with their own personalities and character : as wines should be - and excellent to accompany with meals of all types and styles, all year round, anywhere where and when you want to treat yourselves.
Made in smaller amounts these wines are a bit expensive, but still very good values for what you get and what you pay for. They are simply not everyday wines at these prices and that is okay.
I walked around at this tasting with my new friend the wife of owner-brother at the DOMAINE De La MORDOREE in the southern Rhone. We were on a quest for the best white wine there at the Kysela event for a white to go along with the three types of local oysters available at the tasting : actually the same type of oyster grown in three local areas and thus with three different personalities. It was all true, too.
I said that we had to offer and drink a wine from the United States and this BUTY Semillon Blanc wine was the very best fit. It worked beautifully : BUTYfully or, fully-BUTY! enough! It was a great fit and we both liked it with our oysters and we told the owner later when we saw him again for more!
I have more to say but will post this now " as-is " so that you may all enjoy these photos. I will finish this post as soon as I have time. Cheers, Happy New Year! I am off to work to sell more BUTY wines and others now in our nation's capitol at Cleveland park Wines & Spirits. Cheers, it's Friday, December 28th, 2012 at 10:08AM as I post this for you all. Kysela Mondovino REBULI W/ Fran Kysela & Anne-Marie Delorme Of DOMAINE De La MORDOREE @ Mondovino 2/27/2012 Monday Afternoon
It's great when you get to meet the owners, both at trade shows like this one of Fran Kysela's , as well as in your own store ( Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits , 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008, Tel:202-363-4265 ) where I manage the wine department - have for the last 13 glorious years. I met husband and wife at both events and fell again in love with the RIBULI Proseccos - all of them. Need to order all of them again. I've still got a magnum that will be great for New Year's eve and will order more of that. I am also out of the Cartize that I love to sell for $29.99 a bottle - what a great deal!
I will post this now " as is " and continue to work on it as I have time. In the meantime enjoy these photos that I post on 12/12/12! I hope that we will all be okay. 12/12/12 sounds so ominous!!!
have a great day and come by the store or call me at : 202-363-4265 and let me know which of the RIBULI Prosecco sparkling wines that you want for the holidays. We deliver for free in Washington D.C. for amounts greater than $30.
Cheers and Happy New Year to one and to all! I am looking forward to 2013 as I still have a whole lot to do, like finishing the commentary here on these pictures. What a great event and tasting it was. I had a wonderful time, tasted great wines, spent time with the principles of the vineyards and come away with a wealth of experience, warmth, good will and wanting ever so much more now to sell and to represent well the wines like these of REBULI. Cheers, prego, grazie e a presto! Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn

Saturday, July 7th, 2012 : Cheers! Calypso Organic/ Free Trade/ Vegan / Biodynamic Selections Offered Something Really Special In Wine Selections Here In Washington D.C. Thanks!
I am sad that Calypso Imports of fine organic/ biodynamic/ vegan / free trade wine selections went out of business in 2011 I believe? They did a great job providing the Washington D.C. market place with fine wine selections from counties like France ( Bordeaux, Loire Valley,), Italy ( Veneto, Naples and more ), Chile, Argentina and more. I cannot remember the list at this point. Sorry. This is more a blog thanking them for all their hard work.
The two owners pictured tasting with their brunette salesperson above employed some very good people and it was always a pleasure to meet and taste with them. Here they visited Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel : 202-363-4265, on Facebook at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits, on Twitter at : cpwinespirits ) and we appreciated that.
My first service call from the company followed a phone call or two from Brett Chappel that used to sell to us from other companies. he came by to see us with a list and some wines and we started with some of his French wines which included an excellent Muscadet and some white and red Bordeaux wine selections. Thanks Brett. Hope you are well, call sometime and let me know what you are up to now. Cheers and happy holidays to you and to your family this December 2012!
We bought these wines on-and-off depending on our needs and who was either calling on us or bringing the right wines to sample with us at the right times. So much of sales is all about timing! That's a fact. If we needed it and had a space for it on our shelves, and the price was acceptable, and we had money in the budget to buy it, by gosh then we would buy it! Simple as that!! Of course we would also have to think that the wine was in the bottle. That goes without saying.
Pictured above are the wines from South America that we were tasting that represented great value and were organic and also Free-Trade. We loved all of that! I remember that the red blend Shiraz was it was a great wine for the money : everyone loved it. Too bad it is not available now. It was a great addition to our store.
Oops, you have to go two pictures up to see the right picture for the paragraph that follows. Sorry! Pictured here are the two owners, husband and wife. Pictured two pictures above from left to right : the brunette sales rep from Calypso to Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits, our customer and then the husband-and-wife owners that devoted so much time and energy into making this venture and business all that it could possibly be. Thank you from all of us. Cheers, happy holidays to you and to your families this 2012!
Pictured above is the owner speaking with Jim Stutsman that is a regular customer of ours, a wine lover and a great supporter of all the wines made all over the United States, no matter where as long as the wine is good. He's been a champion like that for the lesser-known wine states for as long as I have known him , and that's almost thirty years now. Thanks Jim, you are the very best, a true asset to the wine world, and a true friend as well.
I posted these pictures in their download form on Saturday July 7th, 2012 and am including this text now on Tuesday morning, December 11th, 2012 before heading off to work to sell more excellent organic, biodynamic, vegan and free trade wine from other importers, sadly not from Calypso imports. I wish them all well, hope they all enjoy a good holiday season 2012 with family and friends and drink some good wines like these, too. It was a good run with some good memories and they all deserve a lot of praise and thanks for all of their hard efforts. We sold a lot of these wines at this in-store wine-tasting at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits going all the way back to 2009 was it? It's bee awhile, even though the pictures are so fresh and look like yesterday! Cheers, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn
