Discovering For The First Time With Robert Kennedy On Tuesday August 27th, 2014 The Stunning Etna Wines Of VALCERASA And RIVEDIBILE Reds And Whites That Include The TOP Of The Line ' Crucimonaci 2007 Etna Rosso, And THE 2009 ETNA Bianco From The Azienda Agricola Alice Bonaclorsi ; ... Dry, World Class, Burgundy/Like Wines, Too!! Wow, Triple Wow! I Was Stunned Into A Reverie, A Thankfulness, a Great Place To Be! Grazie Robert!!

Robert Kennedy always brings us great Italian wines to enjoy and here Danielle tasted with us on Tuesday, August 27th, 2014 ... nice, TONY

These are quite spectacular, world class wines from Robert from Etna , the Valcerasa / Rivedibile wines that really make / made me slow down, almost go at a snail's pace to examine the bouquet, the color, the clarity, the style, the impression, the glow, the ' flow ' and the ' true being ' of these exceptional wines that really need to be babied as they open slowly  so gradually, so evenly and completely and magnificently that, like so many wonderful things that are completely, unabashedly honest and pure expressions of their inner selves and souls , you want your complete focus turned to them as you do not want to miss a beat, a mini/second, you want to be there for the complete ' reveal ', you want to be sure that you are handed a rose by the bachelor, so to speak, to continue to be in this inner sanctum, this inner and lovely space that gives more than it takes : BUT BELIEVE ME, it takes too/two ... you know, to tango, to waltz, to Foxtrot, to dance ... I loved these wines and cannot wait to get them here. We will have them soon, what a treat, grazie Robert ... Anthony / TONY  / Quinn Saturday, August 30th, 2014 ... on Labor Day weekend here in Washington D.C. Northwest, 20008, Cleveland Park : " A Happenin' Place to be! " ...   TONY

TODAY WITH IASON AND SOTIRIS from to PM to taste 5 really fine Greek wines : I tasted them with Iason yesterday, Thursday, Aug 28th, 2014 and really enjoyed them all as quite distinct expressions of their terroir and climate and weather, everything : greek fine wines :

2/ Xinomavro 2011 from DIOFILI, from Siatsta , $18.99, 13 percent alcohol by volume,Greece : cleaner, more muscular, more tight, more taut, more toasted and roasted and zingy/zippy dried berry/cherry/cranberry flavors that are best with a meal, medium to lighter bodied, fresh and with a lively tartness and spice for accent! Made with 70 year old vines ... what a plus that is ... and the price is so reasonable for that ... great value, great food wine, great warm/weather food wine ...
3/ Xinomavro and Moschomarvro 213 dry rose blend from 70 year old grapes, from DIOFILI and the SIAISA Winery in Greece, this is a rich and full and generous, yet still really well/composed dry rose that has been pleasing you all for years now, what a great dry rose to sip as well as enjoy with many a meal!
4/ Assyrtiko dry white 2013 from FEREDINI from the Cyclades region in Greece/Santorini from the ART. KARAMOLEGOS Winery :, $15.99, 13 percent alcohol by volume, : fuller, richer, more mouth/feel, more generous grip and girth and rounder and more accented flavors and taste that linger quite awhile, I liked it from the very first sip yesterday ,,,
/ ' Argatia ', a dry and nuanced and lilting dry blend of Malagousia 45 percent grapes, and 10 percent Athiri and 45 percent Assyrtilko ... more flavor, more layers of flavors that are slow to open, but so rewarding as they do as there is so much more to ths wine, it is quite special. Cheers, JOIN US, come taste today from to 8 PM ... NO CHARGE, everyone always welcome...

Happy LABOR DAY To Us All! Let's celebrate, push the edges, carve out a niche,
go ' for it ! ' Not feel squeezed out of our last few days and hours and moments
of basking in the glow, the sunshine, the moonlight , the super moon, the red
moon, of silly mooning around, grinning, feeling alive and in touch ... oh yeah.

LEt us help you, we love helping you, really, yes we do ,... and you know those
of that shop here that we delight in helping you.

Labor Day TREATS here @ cleveland park wines ...

What will you all need? what have you put off doing all summer that you would
still like to do? Do you need any ideas? Come on by, we are full of ideas,
perhaps too many ideas but we can comb through some and find the ones that are
perfect for you ...

WE HAVE SO MANY things to be grateful for and sometimes they are just under our
noses. On Sunday night my wife and I went to see the movie : " the One Hundred
Foot Journey " and we both absolutely loved it! Perhaps this can be the base of
this week's store email for me as I do like to have some themes to run through
what I write. Labor Day is, of course, the principle theme and celebration. And
in Washington D.C. and the surrounding metropolitan region many cultures,
peoples, religions, beliefs, politics, arts, food and spirits all convene here
and we all find common ground and celebrate.

OF COURSE For LABOR DAY many of us will be grilling, but there are so many
things to grill and so many ways to grill, marinate, prepare, respect, reveal,
celebrate and come to know better and taste better whatever it may be? I grilled
some chicken thighs, for example last night for my wife and daughter. hey have
started back to school already, it is very hard for them, yesterday having been
their first day.

SO : We All Will Be Perhaps Eating Outside this weekend, weather permitting?
hat's the plan I would imagine, make things as simple as possible to enjoy every
last minute and  moment and drop and taste and flavor. Sounds like a great plan.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? MEAT OR FISH OR VEGETABLE OR ALL THREE?!? You can go
completely vegetarian, that's a strong possibility. My friend and customer
Andrea made me keenly aware that not everyone is a meat/eater. She's right,
really she is. I have had to add a whole knew vocabulary and way of talking
about beer, cider, liqueur, liquor and wine as a result of my conversations with
Andrea. hank you Andrea.

SO : For two nights in a row I grilled. I love to grill. I grill vegetables as
well as fish and meat Andrea, promise I do.

ON Sunday night I grilled the salmon fillet my wife brought home, and last night
it was the chicken thighs. I have to say that watching the movie " The Hundred
Foot Journey " influenced my cooking of the chicken thighs and I am happy to say
that my wife commented several times on how tasty it was, how much she enjoyed
it. She asked me what secret spices I might have used to cook it? I said ; "
Cardamon . " She said, ' no, we do not have any. ' I told her I bought some at
the store. It was used by the Indian chef in some of his recipes and so I
thought I would mention that. She is correct, there was no Cardamon used, and
yet I did marinate and soak the chicken thighs for awhile in many ' Tony spices.
' ThAT'S ALL THAT I WILL SAY, VERY SECRET! Cheers.

I LIKED how so much emphasis was made on cooking and either ' having it ' or
not, about knowing and understanding and tasting one's ingredients. I told my
wife and daughter last night that I wished I had worked in Philippe Mellot's
kitchen at the Hotel De La Rigaudie in Sarlat, France years ago. I told her it
would be fun, and then I quickly added : " No, cooking is not fun, it's work,
hard work, a real labor of love. " She agreed with me. I would have learned a
lot. Now I glean a lot from family and friends and chefs that I know , and
movies that I watch and that inspire me, as well as books on food that do the
same. Wow, all so inspiring.

So , Once Again ... about LABOR DAY :

What to serve? he Pumpkin beers are all coming out early, so are the
Octoberfest beers starting to poke out from the corners. What do you think? Do
you want to serve any Pumpkin ales or any Octoberfest beers? We have some, of
course. hen there are the summer seasonal beers as well , and all/time favorite
beers of ours? I have some that I have brought to the table here to mention that
might be fun as hopefully we will be gathered around outside in the warmth and
sunshine around a grill with family and friends.

LABOR DAY TREATS here @ cleveland park wines

WE HAVE SO MANY things to celebrate with this weekend as we say :  " goodbye "
to summer and " hello " to the fall as school starts back up for many
households. It's a bittersweet moment as we are all forced to SQUEEZE the very
last drops of spirits, fun, summer, sunshine and extra warmth and humidity, the
last of the mosquitoes, too ... and turn to a more serious demeanor with more
chores, obligations, rituals and jobs that we kept at bay for short periods of
time as we relaxed and perhaps even turned off most of our electronic gizmos,
too?! Is that even possible in today's day and age? Not as easy as it once was.

A LADY JUST CAME asking for some Gentiane that she told me her friends was
really having trouble locating here in Washington D.C. She prefaced that with
the comment that she was turning to us for help as we had always solved many of
her searches and requests with the products she was after.

WHEN I HEARD THIS I thought to myself that I hope we have what she is looking
for this time? She pronounced the name of what she was looking for and I told
her that I had never heard of it. It was a French digestif and I was wondering
what it was and explaining that I did not know it but we decided to look at what
we had on our shelves. As we were scanning them she said : " what's that?! ".

SHE WAS POINTING TO a bottle of our BONAL Gentiane-Quina des Montagnes de la
Grande Chartreuse ST. LAURENT-DU-PONT ( Isere ),  " an ouvre appetit depuis 1865
". It's a QUINQUINA Vin Aperitif ( $19.99 a 750ml bottle, 16% alcohol by volume,
once open keep chilled, product of France ? : " It is made by an infusion of
cinchona ( Quinine ), gentian, and renowned herbs of the Grande Chartreuse
mountains in a Mistelle base. As a Quinquina ( also known as " Kina ", an
aperitif wine with chinchona. It is traditionally enjoyed neat, on ice with a
twist, and in many classic mixed drinks ." It's called a Toni Aperitif de
France. I like that. We only have three bottles left. It was out of stock at our
distributor for awhile so come get some now if you are interested and celebrate
Labor Day weekend with some BONAL! Cheers.

HERE'S ANOTHER RECIPE :

From our " A Taste Of Cleveland Park " from our old and dear friend Pam The
Butcher Ginsberg :

LEMON SOLE FOR YOUR SOLE -

1 lb. filet of lemon sole    one-third c. white wine

2 roma tomatoes, chopped coarsely   Juice of one lemon

2 shallots, chopped finely   black pepper to taste

" Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place sole on cooking sheet that has been covered
with foil for easy cleanup. All fish expands with heat. Cook sole for 4 to 5
minutes. While sole cooks, saute tomatoes and shallots in white wine, lemon and
pepper. Remove sole from the oven. With slotted spoon remove tomatoes and
shallots from pan, placing them on top of sole. Return sole to oven 8 to 9
minutes. Reduce heat on sauce by half. When sole is done, place sauce on bottom
of plate with sole on top. "

MICHEL. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Did you all ever make this or a version of this at
Liliana's? Would you have a Ligurian or a French wine with it? We are out of the
Ligurian white that we normally sell here and so I will mention some French
wines that I think might work brilliantly with this LEMON SOLE FOR YOUR SOUL
recipe of Pam's :
1) 2010 SAINT-BRIS " Clotilde Davenne " dry white Sauvignon Blanc ( On
Special for $16.99, 12.5% alcohol by volume, vin de Bourgogne/Burgundy. Made not
far from the Chablis Burgundy region this unique Sauvignon Blanc from Burgundy
has loads of extra body, flavor and taste to cut through and help frame better
the distinct yet refined and aromatic, delicate flavors of sole and herbs and
tomatoes to cradle our souls.
2) 2011 " La Renaudie " Sec/ Dry 100% Sauvignon Blanc white from the town
of Bergerac ( $14.99 a bottle, 13.5% alcohol by volume, a two-hour drive from
the town of Bordeaux driving into the interior and not far from the caves of
prehistoric drawings Caves le Lascaux.
THIS IS A BRIGHTER, rounder, fleshier-tasting Sauvignon Blanc that is
easy-drinking before and with the meal of the lemon sole.
3) 2011 Le Nectar des Fees in Saint-Pourcain from the Gardien
Freres/Brothers. Celebrating a famous fairy tale this dry indigenous grape
Tressalier only grows in these vineyards of Saint Pourcain that are reputed to
be the oldest in France. It's quite dry with great mineral and soaring blasts of
acids, too,
IT'S DEFINITELY A FOOD WINE, and will cut through all the flavors to be found in
Pam's dish. It's also a great value and something unique with a great story.
Google it and share it while you enjoy Pam's lemon sole this Labor Day.
4) 2010 Palais Prive dry white from the Rhone Luberon region of France,
this ( $20.99. 12.5% alcohol by volume, Caves de Bonnieux, 84480, France,
www.doyleprovence.com ) is also quite dry with bright bursts of minerals and
tangy-accenting ripples of acidity , medium-bodied and after a glass as an
aperitif you will welcome with open arms and palate some of Pam's lemon sole.
5) 2006 Bourgogne Aligote Vieilles Vignes / Old Vines of DOMAINE Henri
NAUDIN-FERRAND in Burgundy ( On Special for $17.99, 12.5% alcohol by volume,
www.naudin-ferrand.com ) is mature and complex and richly-layered and a very
serious dry white food wine where mineral and even some nut and honey flavors
are really turned up high so that they insinuate themselves, subtly infiltrate ,
permeate and saturate one's palate.
THE LEMON SOLE will float effortlessly on everyone's plate. Definitely a food
wine : it will hold it's own against many flavorful/well-seasoned dishes. Not so
much a sipping wine : too much flavor for that!
6) 2010 Ondenc / Onsec Sec - indigenous dry French white grape variety -
Par Robert & Bernard Plageoles ( $27.99, 14.5% alcohol by volume,
jennyandfrancois.com, info@jennyandfrancois.com ( 646 ) 322-4254 ) is a Jenny &
Francois Selections' complex, multi-layered, golden-colored white that is rich
and full and so thick on the palate with great feel and legs and flesh.
THIS IS AN  amazingly-refreshing, powerful mouth-full of wine that must be
tasted to be believed. It's an experience all in itself and I include it as it
will hold it's own to many a vegetable or side dish and will be a great way to
bring closure to an already thoroughly delicious meal and moment.

I MIGHT RECOMMEND that you start with one of the other wines and then finish
with this Ondenc? Why not, there are always various tastes in the foods served
and it is not always easy to have one wine be the perfect foil or balance for
all those flavors? You might even make Pam's dish and serve three or four of
these wines and invite family and friends, neighbors, too and see what you all
think? It's a simple yet really tasty recipe here that Pam has provided the
Cleveland Park community. Thanks Pam. What do you think Michel? Let us know.

COME AND MIX these bottles and more and SAVE 20% on those over $20 a bottle.
Also save 20% when you mix 12 or more of them - and any other still wines, too.
SAVE 10% when you mix any of these or other still wines, you just need to buy 6
or more bottles to SAVE 10% OFF marked sticker prices. Call if you cannot come :

Talking With Robert Kennedy About The TENUTA CASALI ROMAGNA, ITALIAN WINES of Owner Silvia Casali That Will Be Here Saturday, October 25th, 2014 from 2 To PM To Do An In/Store Wine Tasting Of 3 Sangiovese Reds And One Dessert Red, As Well ... Join Us, Never Any Charge Here @ Cleveland Park Wine Spirits

Robert Kennedy is here and he was here this past Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 tasting Silvia Casali's TENUTA CASALI 2012 ' Palazzina ' Sangiovese Superiore stainless/steel Romagna, Italian red and since I was away on vacation I will have him tell you about it now. It has 13.5 percent alcohol by volume and I loved tasting it with the other two as well. Silvia will be here on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 from 2 to 6 PM tasting these three along with a half bottle of Terrano / Cagnina GRAPE / A DESSERT WINE from Romagna for you all to taste as well / price to follow / ...SO : here's Robert Kennedy to ' wax poetic ' with you :  " the Sangiovese based wines the Casali's are producing are fantastic and pack a big bang for the buck. All three are unfiltered thus there is some nice and crunchy fruit in there. he entry level Palazzina is cut with  Merlot to soften those tannins just a bit and goes great with pizza and hamburgers while Baruccia , aged 5 months in French barrels then 3 months in stainless steel prior to bottling, is becoming one of the big names from Romagna, pair this with grilled sausages and grilled meats. Quartosole is Casali's Reserve and it is aged 18 months in a mix of new and used French oak. An austere wine with dark berry fruits, spice and what I a call BACON FAT!!!!! An amazing wine, only 120 bottles imported and we will have a few available for purchase during the tasting / it will be on special for $32.99 a bottle. Pair with wild boar, pheasant or a nice juicy fillet.  Was just speaking with Silvia while writing this text and she is super excited about coming to DC for the first time. We are Casali's sole US importer at present. Questa sara' un ottima possibilita' per tutti voi, Italiani e non, di esercitare vs iItaliano durante la degustazione con me e Silvia!! A presto !!!   Grazie Robert e Silvia e a presto!   Anthony / TONY / Quinn  8 / 21 /2014   Cleveland Park Wine And Spirits 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Reminded Yesterday , Wednesday August 20th,2014 By A Cleveland Park Wine And Spirits' Customer Of The PARADISE SPRINGS Of Clifton, VA. Winery " Sommet " Off/Dry White Blend That We Had And Were Able To Sell Her : Nice!!

YESTERDAY, WEDNESDAY afternoon a young lady came by asking if we had any PARADISE SPRINGS Of Clifton, VA. Winery ' Sommet Blanc '? She showed me a picture of it that she had taken of the label. I showed her the Norton dry red that we had, a 2011, $27.99, 13.9 percent alcohol by volume a bottle, as I walked down to see if we had any more of the off/dry Sommet white, 12.5 percent alcohol by volume, that's a blend of 43 percent Vidal Blanc, 31 percent Traminette and 26 percent Riesling : ... I WAS NOT SURE WE HAD ANY LEFT IN STOCK, AND LO AND BEHOLD THERE IT WAS !! LOVE IT, TOLD HER THE OWNERS HAD BEEN HERE, THAT I HAD BEEN THERE, that we love selling some of these fine local selections from both Virginia and Maryland. What a thrill, what a treat, what an honor and a privilege, and right in our own back yards! Love it, happy Thursday to you all ... Go to : www.ParadiseSpringsWinery.com for more info. Jean Gagliolo Just Came By @ Rachel Martin's Request To Taste Me On The BOXWOOD ESTATE Winery, Middleburg, VA. 2011 Trellis Red Blend and The 2010 Topiary Dry Red Blend As Well : Both Will Be Here in September 2014 " We Currently Have Half Bottles Of The 2008 Boxwood Red Blend @ $17.99 A Bottle : Drink BOXWOOD ESTATE Winery Wines : Dare To Live Largelly / Grandly / With Style @ Tradition And Great Balance And Flair!

Jean Gagliolo from Capital Distributors just stopped by at Rachel Martin's request to taste me on two new releases or wines currently available through them from BOXWOOD ESTATE Winery in Middleburg, VA. : the

1/ 2011 Trellis red blend : lighter, some good spice and earth and medium to light bodied, opens slowly and gracefully, a bit of cedar in the nose and taste, an old world style wine that was made to complement a meal, slow to open and reveal all it's treasures / that will reward the patient people that want a wine in balance, with lower alcohol, that was always a part of a larger equation and not the whole equation as many wines are attempting unsuccessfully to be these days in my opinion ; short changing us all regrettably , $21.99 a bottle,  ...    and the ...

2/ 2010 Topiary red blend, $32.99 a bottle ; more full an rich and more to hang onto, more to suckle, to warm ourselves with, richer and a bit more beefy, but a gentle beef, a gentle and pleasing meat to it's bones and structure .  You can see the similar style here of both, you can see, feel and taste the balance in both. Lovely We will have both here soon, in the first week of September to be exact.
We also have the half bottles of the 2008 BOXWOOD here at $17.99 a bottle for you all now and that completes the set of three reds with also a lovely summer dry rose that we are sold out of currently but that we also love to sell. Cheers, thanks Rachel, merci Jean ...  Anthony / TONY / Quinn 8/20/2014   Happy Wednesday everyone ... drink some BOXWOOD ESTATE Winery, VA. wines and really live and enjoy ... a treat always ...   TONY

We tasted it here together : quite impressive. a real treat, $37.99 a bottle, 13 percent alcohol by volume, ... from the team of Cuilleron, Villard and Gaillard, I met Villard when he made the original presentation here to me and Michel last year here ... a memorable, serendipitous and eye/opening experience for the both of us! Just SAMPLED the AVUA Cachaca from Brazil : the aged and the regular that are
both really smooth, polished, refined, very elegant, very rich and smooth and a
real treat to sip and smell and enjoy on every level. I liked them both
immediately and would recommend them to our customers without batting an
eyelash! I recommended to Marvin Yves / NY Market Manager 1 917 720 6384 ,
Christopher and  Nate Whitehouse / nate@avuacachaca.com.br / to set a tasting of
both here as soon as possible so that we could introduce it to our customers.?
As soon as I have a date for the tasting I will include it here. I did busted
their chops for coming after the World Cup to introduce it to us here, I did say
that they were well in time for the next Olympics! Good product, snazzy
packaging, too ... I was very impressed, really very pleased. I mentioned that
we already enjoy selling LEBLON here and that we would not stop selling LEBLON.
We are willing to give everyone a chance here. It's exciting to introduce you
all to ' new and exciting ' things in the spirits business. Made from a 90
year/old recipe I believe Marvin said? I love smelling them both as I type as my
two plastic cups still have a bit in each of them here. Fun. Come taste them if
you like cachaca. It is so bloody smooth, gotta love that ... obregado
