DRIVING TO WORK I FELT SPECIAL, i do all the time, I used to always say that I felt blessed to be alive. I do not say it out loud as often as I used to, but I still feel really blessed and privileged, that will never go away, it is an honor to be alive, a responsibility, a duty of sorts, too - it is a group effort and journey, one that could never be really made alone, not really, mostly perhaps, but having other living things in our lives is essential, not to be taken for granted.

FORTY YEARS AGO today Martin Luther King, Jr was shot in a hotel in Memphis, he died, and he has left a large void in our lives. Fortunately he as an incredible man, his example, and his peaceful approach to life and being heard , seen, accepted, respected, equal and so much more - he did everything peacefully , and he accomplished much, we are still working to continue his peaceful mission, and today we remember this all, and take a moment to say ' thanks Martin '. All lives matter, we are all crated equal and should all live as equals to one another, respecting, accepting and including, not excluding. Cheers!

CHRISTIAN STAHL is in town , with a wine-dinner in DC on Thursday night that I will attend ( more on that soon ), and then Christian is here on Friday night pouring a selection of his Franken, German wines and sparkling, too - just like he did here in 2017 on the Women's March on the Mall. That was so important. This tasting will be great, too. Last Thursday at the Uptown Arts DC House Dan Schoeff was nice enough to help us pour and we enjoyed then very much Christian's 2014 Feder ' Spark ' , $17.99 - so rich and complete, full on the palate, textured, layered, a pure pleasing impressive delight! Yes Prosit Christian!! See you soon.

SPEAKING OF THE UPTOWN ARTS DC HOUSE, there is a benefit there this Friday, April 6th, 2018 as they close their operation here and move to another location on Georgia Avenue. Stop by this week and thanks them and wish them well as they continue on with their mission to promote art, and as Maps Glover asks always, one of the talented artists there : " What have you done for art today? " I take that to heart, I always do something for and with my art my expression my life my work, my fun - with art that gives and adds dimensions and life and true satisfaction for me. The benefit for the Uptown is from 6-11PM, join them! I just spoke to Jamal Gray one of the Directors, and he caught me up on this info, thanks Jamal!

BROOKVILLE MARKET is closed and work is already being done there to convert it over to it's new personality, shape, purpose, forum and form! We will all keep a close eye on their progress. I heard that on Saturday when I was in there with many customers like Bill Newlin that the new owner was also there. I did not get a chance to meet him, but look forward to it. The staff supposedly have been offered jobs there, that is a step in the right direction, hope it works as well for them with the new store as it did at Brookville Market.

DRIVING TO WORK I FELT SPECIAL, as it's April 1st, 2014, the sun is out, it's bright and fresh and a bit breezy, too. I shivered slightly as I walked out my front door awhile ago and realized that the warmth of the day was still to come, the sooner-the-better! I am ready as I am sure we all are. It was funny for me to think yesterday that my long pants might have been just a tad too hot, that being bathed in bright sunshine that shorts might have been the preferred way to go?!?

TODAY WILL BE THE TEST : Gags, and jokes and scrambled names and messages and pranks from well-wishers and friends and neighbors. What does this day hold in store for you all? Can you even imagine? Maybe a great promotion, a raise in rank as our neighbor is receiving officially today. How exciting for him and his gathered family.

I'VE BEEN THINKING ALL ABOUT this week. It's an exciting time for all of us, really it is but there are so many things to consider and be on top of, as much as is humanely possible?! It's not easy and yet it can be done.

HERE @ CLEVELAND PARK WINES & SPIRITS there have been so many exciting changes :

1) Two ' new ' , young, ambitious, hard-working men with real ' ideas ' of how to advance the store in these really trying times  ...

2) Michel Dumas got a great chance to manage a store that is opening and to start fresh and continue with his retail experience helping his new customers , ' au revoir ' et merci Michel, grazie Michel!...

3) PULPO has closed and so now the owners of the Cleveland Park Bar & Grill will be opening a ' new barbecue ' restaurant - Lavandou may come back, and we are still waiting to see what goes into DINO's space? ...

4) Our shelves have been completely reorganized by Joe that is working here now part-time. When I am not here he will be to help you all. That is his primary job, to be here and to help you with whatever you may want or need? He has great retail experience already and some valuable wholesale experience, too. From everything that I have heard he is doing really well here so far. Welcome Joe.

5) The signage on the walls now needs to be fixed and will be to correspond to the ' new ' organization that Joe has steadily worked at here on both walls of the store. It's still a work-in-progress but it sure is going well! Thanks Joe.

6) PASSOVER IS COMING and tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 there will be a big-drop of kosher wines for you all to choose from. COME and take advantage of our Wednesday sale - three parts, SAVE here and be proactive about Passover, be ready earlier so you have more time to enjoy it.

7) EASTER IS COMING and we have ordered for that as well and over the next two weeks we will be receiving many wines that will be perfect to celebrate Easter.

8) THE SPACE in the store is larger and there is less room to put things than before, SO : we will gradually be growing into this ' newly-liberated ' space of ours , AND , there will, of course be some growing pains in all of this.

9) PLEASE BE PATIENT and UNDERSTANDING with us and please do voice any opinions, concerns, observations , as many of you have already done. That's the only way we know there is something to be considered that effect your better shopping experience here.

11) WE WILL RETURN to doing our ' Big-Theme ' Monthly Wine-Tastings and they will now be on Tuesday evenings. I am working on the next one right now and will tell you more as it falls more into place. They will be from 5-8PM on Tuesday evenings and will cover specific themes and include an assortment of anywhere between 25-40 wines.

12) OUR WEBPAGE that has been down way-too-long will be fixed again so that I may keep that updated as well as daily-updating our Facebook Page at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. That will be great as many of you like the convenience of using a web page more than a Facebook page or Twitter.

DRIVING TO WORK I WAS FEELING IT as I collected my thoughts and started to think of this week. The thought kept crystallizing for me that things here in our Cleveland Park neighborhood were really starting to feel better and more positive and with more energy. The recent news of the death of Osama bin Laden late Sunday night of course is also amazing and I am sure that we are still a bit stunned from it. Posting a check this morning to the Japanese Red Cross Society for their relief efforts. ALSO : We have so many special wine-tastings and wine-dinners and of course beers, wines, liquors, liqueurs, waters, ciders , even olive oils ( a new one from Greece ) that it really gets the heart pumping and the red blood flowing. CHARGE!

WE JUST DISCOVERED SOME " New " TEQUILA ( started in January of 2009 ) called TANTEO ( Tanteotequila.com ) with Director Of Operations Neil Grosscup ( Tel: 646-861-2429, 166 Mercer St. Suite 3F ) with THREE TEQUILAS ( ALL three On Special for $39.99 a bottle ) : 1( the Tropical,  2) the Jalapeno and  3) the Cocoa. I have samples poured of the three if you want a taste today. Just remind me : they are in the office now and I can smell them loud and clear from where I sit. Very floral and aromatic. I loved the smell of the Cocoa and understand that it is the second best-selling after the Jalapeno. They are the first to infuse these flavors into the tequila. Come check them out. Cheers.

FOR THE LAST WEEK GREG & I HAVE SERIOUSLY WORKED ON Selection of NEW WINES as well as some of the old favorites that everyone has grown to love and often adopted as their own. I'm always pleased especially when I realize that it costs so little.
