We All Look For Shelter From Both the HEAT and the HUMIDITY! HERE @
Cleveland Park Inside Our Store...

We Provide Bountiful Opportunities and Such Shelter that many of our
customers soon break out in big smiles, and sighs of satisfaction as we
offer you a ' new ' experience, or as you come in search of something like
Sue just did, Aquavit that we carry and which she exclaimed ' is sure hard
to find here. One of my friends said that you might have it here.' Glad to
be helpful Sue, just call before you need more as sometimes we are out, or
our distributor is out of it,

We LOVE THIS, ( being helpful, and Sue found other ' goodies ' that she was
also looking for like some finer, hard-to-find, not mainstream wines
available everywhere )  of course, it's our job, we want to make you feel
both relaxed and comfortable here as we chat and listen to you and help you
as best we can.

BACK FROM BETTE & JALEO & Great GANETA Rose from Estebe Salgado of
Tradewinds Specialty Imports last night at the Verizon Center ( old MCI
Bette kept reminding us all ) as she sang her heart out and let everything
spill freely and joyously, comically, mischievously from her in her running
dialogue, constant smiling, mentioning her girls, too pretty much non-stop,
saying that " everything you see here is real." LOVED that, loved her
frankness, she's a consummate entertainer and thanked everyone, all her
musicians, left the message on the Michelangelo two hands Sistine Chapel
fresco ' Be Kind ', so true, all of us need to be as kind as we can.

ANYWAY, my wife and I enjoyed the Pre-Theater menu at Jaleo with a flight
of three dry rosatos from around Spain, of course the GANETA ( Getariako
Txakolina, in stock here now, even some chilled for this hot day of ours,
brutally-hot! ) ), 2014, $21.99, 11% alcohol by volume , is from the Basque
country, and Daniel our waiter said the three roses were from different
regions of Spain. Though Estebe is happy to have his wine there, he would
take exception to Daniel;s comment, and besides that, everything else was
perfection and it was great sitting and eating our meal at the bar. Cheers,
gracias Daniel!

I NEVER DID HEAR BETTE say what she likes to drink? Anyone know?

BACK FROM THE OUTER BANKS, North Carolina and feeling a bit disoriented as
a result of cooler weather there as well as a lovely breeze and very few
mosquitoes. It was pretty magnificent there and I am happy to say that it was
quite relaxing : almost to the point that I was concerned that I was doing so
very little at times. Working on a Walt Disney puzzle that was perhaps the
hardest that I have ever seen with a scene from the animated film " Under The
Sea ". We did finish it I am happy to report.

I WAS ALSO ABLE TO DO SOME DRAWING and even more important record myself
drawing with my Flip camera on three occasions I believe? The body surfing was
also key here and the waves did manage to make me scrape my chest on the very
first wave that I rode. I was much more careful after that.Wave-running with my
son was also a big highlight for me : my main job being to hold on and not fall
off as he steered and zoomed and I had to keep my cap from flying off every
split second as well as not losing my balance and landing way behind in the
wake of our waves. That was challenging, let me tell you. But I did manage
somehow.

HOPE THAT ALL OF YOU ARE ENJOYING YOUR VACATION or time-off with family
and loved ones.

WHAT ARE YOUR " Big Plans "? May we be of any assistance here in helping
you to relax and enjoy yourselves to the very max and to the fullest extensions
of your fingers and toes and hairs wild and tame on head, arms and legs?!

I AM ALSO HAPPY TO REPORT that ( on my trip to the Outer Banks ) there was also plenty of wine to go around.
I was, of course the master of wine ceremonies as well as of cheeses and
crackers. Our " Happy Hours " would start later in the afternoon and extend on
into the wee hours and depending on our own remaining stashes of energies,
enthusiasms, catching of dreams, chasing of fantasies and trails of
conversations and many words on many books. Picture-taking was a key element as
well as there were so many Kodak moments to preserve as we do not see one
another very often and so we have to " max-out " on our time together.

THE WINE FLOWED SO EASILY( at the Outer Banks ) BECAUSE many of our wine reps were nice enough
to drop off some samples each for me to take to Salvo, North Carolina. Thanks
to them my extended family as immediate one did quite well and we enjoyed many
great wines as well as stories and " new " shared moments together with broad
smiles, giggles, outright laughs and moments of discovery, too.

SINCE THE WINES WERE SAMPLES I WILL mention in their places several
similar wines that we currently have here in the store. I will naturally speak
to our reps and inquire about buying some of these wines for the store :
probably to arrive here in August.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW for Wednesday, July 27th, 2011 ( 5:30-8:30PM )
when we have our " Big-Theme FRENCH Loire Valley Wine-Tasting with many dry
reds and whites that also include some sparkling, some rose wines and some
off-dry as well. We have invited some of the most informed and qualified people
in the business to be here like Danny Haas of Vineyard Brands, as well as Roy
Cloud of Vintage 59 Imports and Charles Noel Gendrot of Williams Corner
Selections. Jeremy Sutton of Kysela Imports will also be here pouring his
wines. There should be something for everyone. The Loire Valley makes lots of
great wines to be enjoyed in the heat and the humidity and so we will discover
different towns and areas, grapes and styles and levels of dryness as well as
of minerality and citrus, too. Here are some of the wines being considered for
pouring :

light-bodoed and inexpensive Chardonnay, a Vouvray, and a biodynamic L'ECU
Muscadet, too ... and more.
THINGS ARE STILL BEING WORKED OUT and so more will follow next week. Feel
assured that you will learn lots about the Loire Valley at this tasting.
ALL WINES WILL BE ON SALE by the bottle at this tasting. Bring family and
friends. Cheers.

BACK TO TODAY and the HERE and the NOW and the heat and the strong
sunshine and the need and desire to chill. Here are some great suggestions, the
first of which I took to the beach and enjoyed thoroughly this past week:
Reds:
1) 2008 Chianti Colli Senesi ( $16.99 ) from VALDIPIATTA. It drinks so
smoothly, so wonderfully , so brightly. It's a charmer and a pleaser and a
thorough delight no matter which way you taste or evaluate it. I'm thrilled to
have it here as it tasted great even with all the heat and direct, over-head
sunshine of the Outer Banks. Lovely, really lovely and such a bouquet and rich
color, too. I highly recommend this for now.
THREE REDS From West Virginia -
ALL OFF-DRY and fun
1) WEST WHITEHILL Sweet Mountain Spice Wine ( $10.99)
2) WEST WHITEHILL Raspberry Royale ( $10.99)
3) WEST WHITEHILL Highland Mist Blush Wine ( $10.99, with natural flavors
of orange and lemon)...
CHILL ALL THREE and just enjoy with or without any food. Fruit baskets
would be nice, of course as well as some dark chocolates, too : and so much
more.
MORE REDS -
1) 2009 Cotes-Du-Rhone from Charles Thomas ( $9.99 ) was tasted here just
this past Saturday with some of you lucky enough to have been in the right
place at the right time! It sold really well but we still have some for you
now. Don't wait too long , it will sell quickly.
2) MARCHIGUE Carmenere 2010 Gran Reserva, from Chile's Colchagua Valley,
this dry red Carmenere On Special for $14.99 is a real, beauty with a great
bottle and label and once tasted by you it will win you over immediately : even
with this really hot and bright weather. What a winning taste.

SOME SURPRISES IN WHITES -
1) TERRANOBLE 2010 Sauvignon Blanc from Chile's Central Valley ( $7.99 )
is so dry and bright and refreshing and light enough for this heat and
blaze/craze ... and the price is wonderful, too!
2) ROSENBLUM Cellars Vintner's Cuvee California 2009 Chardonnay ( $9.99 )
has just the right amount of flavorful butter and oak tastes and at this price
I predict that it will become a big favorite for a number of our customers. It
showed beautifully the other day. Not my style at all but really well-made and
also a value.
3) KENWOOD 2009 Pinot Gris Sonoma County at $10.99 is a real steal!
KENWOOD is on a roll and makes some really classy, well-balanced wines and has
stood the test of time. What a lovely dry, aromatic white at a ridiculous
price, too!
4) HUSCH " La Ribera Vineyards " estate-bottled 2010 Mendocino Chenin
Blanc ( $13.99 ) is hugely popular here with a number of our customers. We
tasted it out here this past Saturday with Nolan and it sold quite well once
again. It's very forward and very bright and the rich fruit Chenin Blanc
flavors just jump right out of the glass before you even have a chance to
weigh-in or have an opinion on it or not. Not shy at all : quite the contrary
- quite extroverted in fact. Charming and full of character and pizzaz! Cheers.
5) LA VAL Dry White Albarino Spanish white from the Rias Baixas region (
$19.99 ) was just tasted here this past Saturday by Estebe to quite a favorable
response. We still have a few bottles left of the brustling and totally
refreshing dry white made with Spain's famous Albarino grape that is still it's
most famous after many years of competition from other grapes like the Verdejo
and the Verdelho and Godello grapes, just to mention a few.

SOME DELIRIOUSLY Delectable Roses -
1) VITIANO Dry Umbrian Rosato blend of Merlot and Sangiovese is really
quite amazing. So much more flavorful with more personality than most and at
the ridiculous price of only $6.99 a bottle. It's the 2008 vintage and for many
bottles of rose that would be the end of them but for the VITIANO dry roses
their life spans are long and glorious. How refreshing to hear. Cheers.
2) 2010 Touraine Dry Rose from the DOMAINE DE BELLEVUE ( $10.99 ) has
consistently been one of the most popular dry roses and we are thrilled to have
it here. It's so bright and refreshing and so perfect for this intense heat and
scolding sunshine now...

MORE EXCITING NEWS : Was inspired by the Asia After Dark evening this past
Saturday at the FREER/SACKLER Museums of Art on the Smithsonian Mall from
8PM-midnight where I got to here the group BETTY perform as I have known
one of the three women members, Amy Ziff now since the mid eighties. We
used to speak passionately about life in French back then, we probably
shared some Chablis then, too.

ANYWAY : Amy and Anna came by a couple, maybe three years ago and I did not
immediately recognize Amy since it had been so long since we had spoken or
seen one another. Anyway, they were looking for a bottle of Paolo's Ciro
Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva ' Duca SanFelice ' LIBRANDI Vineyards from
Calabria, Italy ( we now sell the 2011 for $20.99, at 14% alcohol by volume
) and we had it, they bought some, and it was a great reunion.

SPEAKING OF THE ' SanFelice ' Riserva 2011, LIBRANDI, Amy Riolo that writes
about food and is starting to include wine, especially from Calabria where
she is from called, asked about, and came by for some LIBRANDI just two
months ago. It sure is a small world, and many times various events overlap
as these do in my mind.

I LOVED LISTENING TO BETTY PERFORM in the courtyard of the FREER/SACKLER
Museum of Asian Art where Whistler's Peacock Room is, where many rooms are
filled with exceptional pieces of art from drawings to works in metal, and
stone and marble, gold, whatever, silk, too , lovely old paper, ... I was
blown away as I walked through and exhibit of Iranian art trying to find
the courtyard and I saw some of the most beautiful work in metals of
goddesses so sensual, voluptuous, really beautifully-executed that I had to
stop briefly and admire before proceeding with a gift of a bottle of the
LIBRANDI Riserva 2011 for Amy. When I gave it to her she was surprised and
her face that radiates anyway, eyes that sparkle, just lit up!

COME BY and get a bottle of this elegant, refined, delicate and sooooo
pleasing bottle of the 2011 Riserva dry red ' Duca SanFelice ' 1005
Gagliopo red, $20.99 : it is a perfect summer red as it is really not heavy
at all, definitely on the lighter side, chill 30 minutes and enjoy! I can't
wait to hear soon how Amy liked it? I am sure she will email me when she
gets a moment.

SATURDAY NIGHT at the FREER/SACKLER Museum it was sweltering outside and
both Amy and her sister Elizabeth commented on it several times. Anna came
around with bottles of water for the five band members : three women and
the two men behind playing drums and guitar.

WE DO NOT HAVE any wine from China or Iran, we do have rice wine from Japan
as you already know. We have added back the TY-KU Sake super Premium Junmai
Ginjo , $22.99, with 15% alcohol by volume, imported, and we have already
done several successful tastings with it. Comes in a dark sculpted . sleek
shiny-matted almost obelisk bottle : i could see this fitting well at one
of the bars at the FREER/SACKLER art Museum ... it would have, it is
refreshing for this intense heat and humidity that is trying to stifle and
bring us down these days!

JUST IN : Exciting Honey Bourbon recipe/summer :

One of our customers that works from home just came by and he had a
recipe to use his honey Bourbon : Take a tall glass and put a shot ( 2
ounces of the Tennessee HONEY by JACK DANIELS, On Special for $25.99, and
them add some ice and fill it up with unsweetened tea. Stir, he says that
the honey just adds a really nice taste to the unsweetened tea and he loves
it in this heat now. Thanks John  for sharing. You have a green thumb where
it comes to whiskey and spirits because you also just suggested adding a
couple of drops of water to the ROWAN'S CREEK Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey,
$38.99 a 750ml bottle, with 50.05% alcohol by volume, that has been aged in
charred barrels, the water helps the extra alcohol and the charred barrel
tastes soften and become easier to really enjoy, says John. Thanks again
John!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL FATHERS OUT THERE! It's this Sunday so everyone
should be proactive and prepared now or by the end of this week and we have
lots to recommend to help you with some last minute liquid libations
with-and-without alcohol. Yes, we do have some really nice non-alcoholic
beverages here and they, too sell really well. We here at Cleveland Park Beers,
Spirits and Wines like to represent the full gambit of things that are
offered/available to us and to let you all decide what you want. We are only
here to suggest, answer you questions and make your life and decisions a bit
easier.

ALSO : HAPPY GRADUATION DAYS to many of you out there! Graduations have been
going on now for awhile and are still going on and we have helped many of you
celebrate those as well. It's all so gratifying and special and wonderful and
we are thrilled to be a small part of these celebrations where and we can be.
Thanks for the opportunity to be there for you all.

I HAVE A NICE FATHER'S DAY STORY to offer to you, too.

EARLIER I WAS AT THE FIREHOOK BAKERY for my coffee before coming to work.
Rosalind one of our regular and very special customers saw me approach the door
of Firehook Bakery and she smiled and said " Hello " immediately. I asked her
how her weekend party had gone. She was here last Saturday shopping for beer,
wine to make a sangria and other " essentials ". That was fun for me. I
immediately suggested that she buy some of the magnums of DOMINIO DE ADIRA,
2011 Tempranillo ( 1.5ml bottle - there are two 750ml bottles in each magnum :
On Special for $14.99 from Valencia, Spain I believe ? ) to offer for drinking
as well as for the base of her sangria. As we talked I asked at some point : "
What are you all celebrating? "

ROSALIND TOLD ME THAT they were celebrating Jame's refurbishing/remake of his
1963 Ford Falcon. 1963 was a great year for many things such as much great
music as well as some wine like vintage port. Anyway Rosalind told me that
James had thought it would take him one year and yet it took three years to
finish work on this old 1963 Ford Falcon. I forgot to ask the color but I heard
Rosalind say that this past Saturday they had just got it back from the body
shop with a fresh coat of paint on it.

ROSALIND ALSO JUST TOLD ME that James is a great father and that he has been a
great care giver to their children as well and made it possible for her to
travel for her work. I had asked her if it was alright if I talked about this
in today's store/week email and she said that it would be fine. That's when she
added all this about him being such a great dad. That was of course all music
to my ears and I am happy to share this all with you as we get ready to
celebrate Father's Day.

COME BY AND GET SOME of this DOMINIO DE ADIRA 2011 dry red Tempranillo in the
magnums On Special at $14.99. It's light and refreshing and so easy to drink
with or without food. You should chill it and have it warm up to just the right
temperature for you all. It really is a smooth and silky delight. I immediately
fell in love with it when our rep Jeff tasted us on it three or so months ago.
We are thrilled to have it. If you have a group of dads together celebrating
it's a great wine to enjoy with all this oppressive humidity and heat - by
itself or mixed together with fruit to make a sangria. This is also a great
wine if you still have some larger groups getting together to celebrate a
graduation of a friend or loved one.

SPEAKING OF SANGRIA this past weekend to get a local neighborhood Graduation
Party rolling with the red and white wines I decided finally to start making
some sangria mixes for all these nice people. We were only guests and yet it
was my pleasure to offer some " virgin " and some wine sangrias to anyone
interested. As I made them with some dry French white and a healthy batch of
the fresh fruit sitting by me in a large bowl I would add a splash of dry
California red Pinot Noir, too. I used Sprite to make the " virgin " sangria
drinks and as I worked and spoke the excitement caught on and people started to
gather around and show their interest and desire to have some. All good. I had
never really made sangria mixing the red and the white wine but as you crush
all the berries and mix the whole concoction together it becomes really tasty.

IF YOU TRY THIS  on Father's Weekend try both the DOMINIO DE ADIRA Spanish
Tempranillo red as well as some of the DOMAINE DE BERNIER 2010 Chardonnay from
France's Vin De Pays Du Val De Loire On Special for $10.99. Both are delightful
by themselves with this heat and humidity and they would also make a great base
for the sangria.

ANOTHER QUICK STORY that involves sangria : I went over to a swimming coach and
offered him a Brazilian sangria. We were all gathered for another special high
school graduation. I said that I could add some Sprite to it to make it more
like their soft drink called Guarana that is sweet like Sprite. The minute I
said this he smiled and said that I obviously knew what I was talking about
when I mentioned the Guarana. He is engaged to a young Brazilian lady from
southern Brazil and he said that he would need some Brazilian wine for their
wedding here. That's when I mentioned MIOLO and some of the other really good
Brazilian wines that we have sold here in Cleveland Park from the RIO/SOL dry
red Cabernet & Syrah blend ( $11.99 ) to some of the sparkling wine we sold at
the end of last year for around $13 a bottle I believe. We will have to get
more of that soon.

AT THE MOMENT for Father's Day let me recommend some of the MIOLO Family
Vineyards' 2009 Chardonnay On Special for $14.99 a bottle. It comes from
Brazil's Vale Dos Vinhedos region ( 13.5% alcohol by volume, www.miolo.com.br
and is flavorful, rather full-bodied, has some real grip and flavors that are
both pleasing and forward and really open gracefully with time on the palate
and then linger for a long time, too once you swallow. I really do recommend it
along with the 2009  Pinot Noir ( On Special for $16.99 ) and the LOTE 43 2004
dry red Bordeaux Blend On Special for $19.99. There is always something fun and
exciting " just around the bend " ... here in Cleveland Park in our nation's
capitol.

SANTOS RIVERA ALSO HAS some great beers for us all to enjoy on Father's Day as
well as on continuing graduations and here are some  to recommend.

1) BAYING HOUND Aleworks " Rockville " Kolsch Style Ale ( On Special for
$7.99, 1 Pt. 6 Fl. Oz bottle, 5.5% Alcohol By Volume, www.baying-hound.com,
BAYING HOUNDS ALEWORKS Rockville, Maryland 20850, ) : " Perfect for the warmer
months. Refreshing with a little more hop kick than our German counter part ".

2) PEAK Organic Brewing Company " Espresso Amber " Ale With Organic Coffee
( On Special for $6.99 a 1 Pt. 6 Fl. Oz bottle, 6.8% Alcohol by Volume,,
Portland, ME. www.peakbrewing.com ) : " A robust amber ale brewed with locally
roasted, organic fair trade espresso with help from our friends down the street
at Coffee by Design. This malty amber ale is brewed with substantial amounts of
Munich Malt, providing a perfect backbone for the rich, toasty flavor imparted
by the espresso ".

3) USDA Organic  " SUM'R " Summer Ale by UINTA Brewing Co. ( On Special
for $9.99 a 6-pack of 12 Fl. Oz bottles, uintabrewing.com, Salt Lake City, Utah
) : " Sunkissed by UINTA ... earth, wind and beer " and made from water,
organic barley, malt, hops and yeast. The color of the six-packs is green and
perfect for sending the message of " organic ", " going green " and doing
whatever we possibly can to preserve our environment. Come check it out.
Cheers.

THIS PAST WEEKEND WE HAD   FIO PISCO   poured by our local reps on Friday, June
8th, 2012 ( 5-8PM ). It's On Special for $27.99, regularly $30.99 a 750ml
bottle and made in San Miguel, Lima Peru www.fiopisco.com re:discover purity.
This FIO PISCO sold out again at this second tasting with Carmine Malangone and
Marques Mullings. It is made in small batches and distilled that way. Made from
100% grapes, artisanal and with no water or additives. It's 84% alcohol by
volume, made in Peru and we are happy to have it. Imported here locally by SanF
LLC into Alexandria, VA. Thanks Carmine and Marques, you both did a great job
and we have it back today on Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 for any of you looking
for excellent Peruvian Pisco.
THIS EMAIL will serve for the the next two and so please do save it and refer
to it again and again as you look for ideas to celebrate and get through this
heat and humidity. The next store email will be on July 3rd, 2012 as we all get
ready to celebrate the 4th of July.

REMEMBER THAT SUNDAY, July 1st, 2012 is Canada Day and that we have some of the
excellent CAVE SPRING CELLARS  2009 Pinot Noir VQA Niagara Peninsula ( On
Special for $18.99, regularly $21.99, from Jordan, Ontario, Canada, 13% alcohol
by volume, cavespring.ca, ). We had this open recently here by our reps John and
Theresa Morrison and it was very well received by those of you that tasted it.
Made in a lighter, very tasty style with lovely accents of herbs and spices and
more subtle and refined taste. It works it's magic much more slowly on the
palate and will be a great medium-to-lighter-bodied red to combine with many
hot-weather meals inside or outside. Chill it slightly for thirty minutes or
less and enjoy it with salads and grilled meats and vegetables, smoked foods.
It's a gem in the rough, really special. Treat yourselves now or on Canada Day.

TOMORROW OUR Cleveland Park List-Serve Notice will appear and so I will combine
some of this email with other things in it. You might look for tomorrow's
notice as I will include other items that I believe you all will be interested
in as well. We are trying to let more of the Cleveland Park Community know that
we are here as it still happens that people come to us here after years of
having lived here and not knowing that we are here and that we offer as much as
we do. Many people are quite literally shocked that our store is as big as it
is and offers as much as we do. We want this to happen less frequently and for
more of you to know that we in fact do offer a wide range of items and services
here.

WINE-CLASSES : Saturdays, 11:30AM - 1PM -

JUST LIKE THIS PAST SATURDAY June 9th, 2012 I did a private wine-class for Leah
and Josh and their eight local friends. I charged $10 a person and served six
wines ( one dry Spanish Bobal rose On Special for $9.99, one liter of BIG WOOP
dry Southeastern Australian red blend of Shiraz and Merlot, one WWE. DR.
THANISCH 2009 Riesling from Germany's Mosel region ( On Special for $19.99,
regularly $25.99, 9.5% alcohol by volume, Erben ), and more. All the wines were
well-received and I must admit that this WWE. DR. H. THANISCH 2009 blew the
roof off the top of our store when we finished with it.

EVERYONE WAS PRETTY AMAZED and we all marveled at how flavorful and complete
and satisfying this off-dry Riesling was/is. You can do your own private
classes, too. You simply need to have six or more people and we can tailor it
around what you all want to learn about. I do them to accomodate all of you and
your interests and needs. Call : 202-363-4265 and ask for me, Tony. So get some
friends together and give me a call. I really like doing these wine classes and
have done them for so many years now that I can assure you that you will all
learn and have a great time, too. FUN.

LIQUOR / LIQUEUR From Ravinder Sharma : Father's Day & Continuing
Graduation-Day Gifts :

I HAVE SO MUCH TO MENTION in LIQUOR / LIQUEUR from Ravi : here are some of the
highlights that will be great for FATHER'S DAY :

1) Anejo Tequila made from 100% de Agave plants by DON ROBERTO ( On
Special for $56.99 a 750ml bottle, 40% alcohol by volume,
www.tequiladonroberto.com, Jalisco, Mexico ) is hand-crafted and is " new and
very exciting " here in Cleveland Park. We are very pleased to be able to offer
it to you all in time for Father's Day as well as for the 4th of July! Get some
now while we still have some.

2) The Original KOLOA Kaua, Hawaii : 2 Rums -

a) KAUA 'I White Hawaiian Rum ( $36.99 a 750ml bottle, Rama, Hawaii, 40%
alcohol by volume, www.kolparum.com, is distilled and blended on the garden
island of Kaua'I and is history in the making. It's also brand new to us all
here in Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. FUN!
b) KAUA 'I Spice ( $41.99, 44% alcohol by volume ) is a golden-hued
Hawaiian rum with natural flavors and caramel color and spice of course. Go to
: www.koloarum.com for more info. Cheers. It's great to see so many products
coming to us recently from Hawaii these days that includes all the various
beers as well as the sparkling and the non-sparkling Pineapple wines that we
carry here.
The sparkling HULA O MAUI ( $26.99, 12% alcohol by volume, made by the TEDESCHI
Vineyards, Ulupalakua ) is tart and crisp and refreshingly dry. It , along with
these two new rums would make great gifts for Father's Day! Cheers.

3) Eau De Vie ( Water Of Life ) de Pomme ( Apple ), Apple Brandy
Barel-Aged in Limousin Oak ( usually used to age French wines ), from CLEAR
CREEK Distillery ( $59.99 a 750ml bottle, 40% alcohol  by volume, ) has the
apple that grew inside this bottle. It's distilled and bottled by the CLEAR
CREEK Distillery in Portland, Oregon and looks fabulous and would make a great
gift this weekend to enjoy at the end of Sunday as the sun sets and it gets
cooler outside and you can all enjoy the last bit of this special day and raise
a glass and toast all your fathers. Cheers.

4) Vodka from Washington Island, Wisconsin, this 2005 DEATH'S DOOR ( On
Special for $34.99, 750ml bottle, 40% alcohol by volume,
www.deathsdoorspirits.com, from the August 2010 harvest ) is distilled from
grain and was tasted this past Thursday, June  7th, 2012 from 5-8PM by the
owner himself. More info is included on our Facebook page at : Cleveland Park
Wines & Spirits. Check it out. We have been selling these three items from
DEATH'S DOOR now for some time and so it was thrilling to get the owner and
inspiration behind these products here. We tasted the White Whisky and the Gun
as well and they are all here available for you all.

5) Basil SQUARE ONE Organic Vodka ( $32.99, made from 100% organic rye,
40% alc. by volume, 80 Proof, USDA Organic, www.squareoneorganicspirits.com ) :
" The garden-fresh basil aroma mirrors the delightful earthiness of basil on
the palate. Clean and bright with a soft hint of white pepper and citrus. ...
Our master distiller, Bill Scott, infuses the essence of four basil varieties -
Genovese, Thai, Lemon and Sweet - to create SQUARE ONE Basil ". FUN. TASTY. Try
some.

WINES From Eric, Michel and Tony :

1) Natural Sweet Red & Natural Sweet Rose from the ROBERTSON WINERY ( Both
are On Special for $7.99 a 750ml bottle, both have 7.5% alcohol by volume, from
South Africa, ) in fun tear-drop shaped bottles. Chill them both. The more you
chill them the drier they will taste. These are fun to enjoy all by themselves
and would also be very casual and appealing to enjoy on a really hot and muggy
day outdoors this weekend. They also make nice gifts for those of you just
starting to drink and enjoy wine. All the emphasis is on the softness and the
roundness of the fruit flavors and not on the tannins or the acids. FUN for
Father's Day!

2) 2009 Cabernet Franc from Virginia and made by WINEWORKS ( $34.99 for a
three-liter box of wine : that's 4 750ml bottles inside at $8.75 a bottle,
www.virginiawineworks.com, made by Michael Shaps outside of Charlottesville,
VA. ) and is a great party wine as well as a great way tor larger parties and
groups of people to celebrate all the graduation day celebrations, too. I
enjoyed some last night as I used some the other day for a graduation and since
we did not use it all and it keeps fresh inside the bag it still tasted great
while I grilled our dinner. I definitely recommend it and think it represents a
great deal, too.

3) " Bone Dance " 2007 Napa Valley Merlot from JAQK Cellars ( $28.99,
www.jaqkcellars.com ) is quite rich and robust and flavorful. It still has some
really nice balance, even at 14.5% alcohol by volume. It will taste great at a
grill on Father's Day or on another graduation celebration. Medium-bodied and
focused and a real treat to make ourselves feel even more special and
appreciated. Try some, you will love it.

4) " Charmed " Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010 ( $29.99,
www.jaqkcellars.com , 13.9% alcohol by volume ) has a great label for
celebrating and graduations and with just a splash of oak to the taste it will
be great when you grill and barbecue and enjoy yourselves inside or outside.
It's medium-bodied and very forward and bright on the palate and the flavors do
indeed linger. Bright and cheery and fun.

HOT OFF THE PRESSES :

1) FIRST FRESH Extra Virgin Olive oil Fall 2011 Harvest from California,
this BILL SANDERS ( $18.99 a 500ml bottle ) is made from 3 Spanish varieties of
olives and just won the " Prestige Gold " award at the Terraolivo Evoo
International competition in Jerusalem. It will also be featured in the " New
Brands on the Shelf " pavilion at the Fancy Food Show in Washington D.C. here
on from July 17-19. If you know Bill from Cleveland Park please go by and say "
hello " to him. We sell his olive oil here and are thrilled to have it. This is
another great " Father's Day " gift.

2) PATXARAN Sloe Berrie liqueur ORDOKI Licores BAZTAN ( $23.99. 750ml
bottle, from Navarra, Spain 25% alcohol by volume, without additives ) is
pretty amazing. We had it opened and poured by our local rep Nolan Hale this
past Saturday and we sold some. It's pretty appealing with accents of licorice
and a smooth, silky, bright-textured mouth-feel that coats and cajoles and
pleases and is never cloying or heavy. You want to sip it again and then again
and then again once again as if for the very first time : just to be sure you
like it as much as you did on the first sip. FUN. A great way to celebrate and
end an evening this coming weekend with family and friends.

MONTHS' TASTINGS :

FRIDAY, June 15th, 2012 ( 5-8PM ) : We have Estebe from Tradewinds Imports
here to taste some of his excellent Spanish and Argentinian wines, from
still/non-sparkling to sparkling as well. It will be fun. Estebe has some
really nice wines that could be great for Father's Day like his MANLA dry white
100% Verdejo 2011 Spanish white ( $20.99, www.cachazo.com, from Valladolid,
Spain ), and his  CHANARMUYO Reserva Chamas Honnorat Family Wines 2009 dry red
Tannat indigenous grape variety from La Rioja's Valle De Chanarmuyo in
Argentina, close to Uruguay, for $19.99. It's hearty, earthy, herbal, spicy and
needs food to flesh it out. The MANLA is lovely to enjoy with salads and cold
cuts and most warm-weather meals that include shellfish, fish, white meats,
vinaigrettes, goats' cheeses and much, MUCH more. Cheers.

SATURDAY,  June 16th, 2012 ( 2-6PM ) : We have Jan Conrad of JUSTIN
California wines here to pour a selection of his wines which will include a
Chardonnay, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sauvignon Blanc dry white wine. Join us

SANTOS has organized a GOOSE ISLAND beer tasting from 5-8PM.

SATURDAY, June 23rd, 2012 from 2-6PM we have Ernie our local rep of
Monument Wines here pouring a selection of his California and Italian wines? I
just spoke to Matt Daniels of Majestic Fine Wines and he will take Ernie's
place at this tasting and probably pour the wines of CALINA ( Chile ), TENUTA
DI ARCENO ( Italy ) and FREEMARK ABBEY ( California ). We will know for certain
by the end of this week. Join us, never any charge.

RAVI has organized a CHOPIN Polish vodka tasting including three types.
FRIDAY, June 29th, 2012 ( 5-8PM ) , we will have Oscar Losama of VOILA
Imports here ( he's a partner with Olivia ) : and Oscar will pour some of his
excellent French wines that may include some sparkling, too as we are getting
closer to the 4th of July as well as the 14th of July ( Bastille Day ). It may
be a : Let's Get Ready Early For BASTILLE DAY Celebration Wine-Tasting. That
makes sense, let's be proactive. Cheers.

SATURDAY, June 30th, 2012 ( 2-6PM ) : Chris Bartha will be here from
Cobblestone Imports to do an early 4th of July Wine-Tasting with all American
wines that may include COOPERS Vineyard here in Virginia with the " Noche "
chocolate infused into the red Norton ALL_AMERICAN indigenous grape variety to
the western hemisphere, the RAMSAY( CA. ), and perhaps some of the Olivet Lane
of PELLEGRINI Vineyards in California's Russian River Valley. Michel and Chris
will make the final decision on this one. We sell wines already from all three
of these excellent vineyards and together they would all be fun to celebrate
the 4th of July on the next Wednesday! Cheers.

HOW MANY OF YOU ARE  IN A CLEVELAND PARK STATE OF MIND?!?

HAVE YOU EVER said to yourselves : " I am in a Cleveland Park
State-Of-Mind " ?!?

DRIVING to work I often flip into a Cleveland Park Washington D.C.,
Northwest, 20008 " Sate-Of-Mind " , and it always makes me happy and smile
as I have / we all have so many things to celebrate , remember, be so
happy for, and to look forward, too, here in Cleveland Park. Especially on
a drop-dead gorgeous day, with a nice breeze, too. Wow. I walked through my
garden out back earlier before breakfast to get my batteries charges and '
rarin'-t-go ', and that really did the trick for me. There is so much lush
green everywhere, and all our Japanese water irises and our Mustard-yellow
Yarrow, our Bee-Balm, our white Goose-Neck flowers, our Coriopsis
soon-shouting-yelling-yellows-bright-and-strong, our deep and matted orange
day lillies with bright yellow centers, our Milkweed for the Monarch
butterflies, our lavender butterfly bushes, our Coneflowers, Black-Eyed
Susans, and more are blooming, getting close to, thinking strongly about
it. Good thing I had some delicious red Lambrusco to drink last night.....

LIKE THE ' Piria ' PALTRINIERI , $14.99, 11.5% alcohol by volume,
Lambrusco Di Sorbara, ( with 70% Lambrusco Sorbara, 30% Lambrusco Salamino,
for more info go to : www.rwkimports.com, Azienda Agricola Paltrinieri
Gianfranco s.s. Sorbara, made by Alberto Paltrinieri that came to pour it
here months ago with his daughter, what a great tasting that was! ) to
drink while I grilled and ' surveyed and admired ' my domaine as I like to
say with both a smile and a smirk!

IT RAINED BUCKETS last night and cleansed everything.I loved looking out at
how everything was so squeaky-wet and where there was sheets of rain and
water going this way and that , there was all of a sudden bright sunshine,
no clouds, and everything drying as drips dropped constantly all over the
place : what a change, what a display of Nature at it's finest. I loved it.

; so refreshing! Try one, use a blender to crush the ice and everything
else up. I use some fresh fruit as well as some frozen concentrate, and I
love the results, really I do. Might have to have some tonight! I wanted to
last night as I drove back from doing an art class in French for my
daughter and her class, and two others, but I did not have any rum at home
and was too bothered by the heat to go in search of any! Argh!!!! But
tonight it is a different story ... stay-tuned ...

JUST HAPPENING : Trying Brunello DONATELLA Cinnelli Colombini   : "  Sorry
Violante missed you yesterday in the store but glad I saved you a taste of
this amazing 2010 Brunello the best since 1997. Check out the write up on
this amazing all female operated winery in this months wine spectator."
THANKS CHRIS FOR COMING  by again today with two of the five wines, I loved
both including the Riserva 2008 that I just tried after the 2010 : both are
memorable from the first whiff , loved them world-class, really classic,
flavorful, froward in every sense yet with a certain backwards thrust going
on at the same time, like dragging one's feet ever so as one advances, so
both motions at play and resulting in an even finer wine and series of
taste sensations as the wine expands and contracts, retracts, redirects,
refocused, and continues to change and grow and evolve. I loved this.

 I
have pics that I will post for you all really soon here and on our web page
and on Facebook, too : with tweeting them to follow soon! So much trabajo a
faire : English, Spanish and French - and Italian with the wine at play
here! Love it. Stay-tuned for more. Wines to arrive in late June here.
