Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah, I Know it's on Saturday, but let's get the word out
and our costumes ready to go! I still am not prepared so this is a great
wake-up call ofr me as I need to change things up and get a fresh look and
start and perspective, because : ... it's all about the perspective! And
our perspective are fall colors, fall drinks and spirits, ghouls, goblins,
spooks, bats, pumpkins, squashes, gourds, and more. I even saw some gourds
growing in Bryant, LR yesterday morning. Nice!

seeing them.

WE HAVE LOTS OF PUMPKIN BEERS and ALES, we also still have two rootbeer
beers here, as well! But pumpkins are not the only way to go for Halloween
weekend.

IT'S FOR SOME today nasty and soggy, wet and gross. For me my drive to work
was glorious and so much wonderful eye-candy for me to enjoy with the
changing fall folliage!

I HAVE PICTURES and I am posting some of them on our Facebook page at :

them inspire you to drive over or walk over to see us when you have a

HURRICANE SANDY was kinder to us than we were made to believe and for that
we are all thankful I am sure. We lost our electricity at our home on Monday
night at 8PM and decided to play the game Apples To Apples at our dining room
table with flashlights, candles and some excellent wine. It was fun, it reminded
me of a time when there were no electronics practically.

WE DID HAVE our friend Barry's radio that operated on batteries and it crackled
and sputtered and spoke to us pretty clearly most of the time and served at that
moment as our lifeline to the outside world. Imagine that?!? Our electricity did
not come on again until the next day in the late afternoon. As I drove to work
on Tuesday morning I reminded myself how lucky we were ( not up North
unfortunately ) that Hurricane Sandy had hit further north up our coast.

SHARE YOUR HURRICANE SANDY stories with us. We were happy to be here for you all
as many of you were off for four days. It must be hard to return today after
four days' off? What did you do? What fun things did you discover/ share /
enjoy? Hopefully the positive events outweighed any negative ones? ANYWAY : when
you come next be sure and share some of your stories with Michel and Tony ( me
).

I WENT TO THE STUDIO THEATRE and was quite literally blown away by the stage
adaptation of The Invisible Man written and published in 1952. I found it still
quite relevant today and I was able to meet and chat with both one of the male
actors called Brother Jack that did a great job, and also a young black female
understudy living in Columbia, Maryland. They both had really interesting things
to say and it was a great experience for me to share my thoughts with them, too.
They were both so positive and so happy to have been involved with this stage
production.

I LOVED IT and blogged about it at my chatartist.blogspot.com site if any of you
want to read it. I was impressed with all the effort and work that went into
this stage production : ten fine actors playing multiple roles and the staging,
lighting, the set and all the old film clips, etcetera : brilliant and too much
to absorb in one viewing. I could easily have returned to see it another one or
two times : that's how good it was. As many of you know our customer Vince Brown
is very responsible for bringing all of this into our loves and we are thankful
to Vince. Thanks Vince, you are the best.

I DID NOT DRINK ANY WINE at the Studio Theatre : they had some but I did not
have enough time. Instead I gulped down a soda as I was tired on this Sunday
evening before Hurricane Sandy really hit our shores. It was interesting to see
how full the theater was : people did not stay away even with the rain beginning
and the real threat of Sandy ... I was pleased, however to see that wine was
offered. It was good wine, too from Australia : from the YALUMBA group, a red
and a white as I recall. All good.

WINE By Chris And Tony :

1) Pinotage 2013 from South Africa's Swartland region, since 1941,
made by RIEBEEK CELLARS, this $7.99 dry smooth red has just enough pepper
and spice and taste to make it quite delightful, and so amazingly
affordable, too! I tasted it on Sunday for a bridal shower that I hosted
and it showed really well.
2) Dry Rioja red from ALTOS On Special for $9.99 a bottle, with 13.5%
alcohol by volume is showing really well. Chris and I tried it recently
with Jeff Palmer and decided immediately that we had to have it back!
Smooth, polished, bright, good spice and definition, showing fabulously,
classically for only ten bucks! Wow, love it!!!
3) White Borges Oporto/port, $11.99, with 19% alcohol by volume is
drinking beautifully. I sampled it twice this Sunday, again for the bridal
shower I hosted for twenty-two women. I tasted it by itself to be sure it
was okay after I pulled the cork, and as we were running out of time and
the Mango cake was being served I said : " Let's add a splash of the BORGES
white port to our dry sparkling Spanish Cava from Rossinyol De Moragas,
$16.99 a bottle. It will complement better the richness of the Mango and
other fruit flavors. " And it did, and in doing so, we created something I
never hear anything about but which works well with sweets, putting a
splash or two or three of BORGES white port into some of the ROSSINYOL De
Moragas espumante Cava : what fun, what cheer, what a great sense of
discovery and making things work on the spur of the moment. Love it. It
also tastes great on it's own, and also with tonic water, it makes a great
summer drink with some crushed ice in the glass, perfect to chill you down,
or to warm you up, depending on how you serve it.
4) Moschofilero 2013 from FTERI , Arcadia, Greece ( Nassos just
dropped this off, says there are five producers and this is one of the best
) from the TROUPIS Winery, $15.49 a bottle, 12.5% , and made from 100%
Moschofilero grapes.
5) 90% Mandalaria and 10% Mavrotragano , 13% alcohol by volume, ...
this dry red ' Atlantis ' from the ESTATE ARGYROS on Greece's island of
Santorini, a 2012, is a delight to enjoy now and I highly recommend it to
you all. I just tasted the dry white this past Sunday and would recommend
it here, I do recommend it, but I only have three bottles of it, so I
highly recommend that you come and buy a bottle of the red and the white,
and even the rose and make a special party and occasion with these
wonderful three Atlantis wines that I have! Cheers!
6) ' Palazzina ' 2013 Sangiovese Superiore from TENUTA CASALI , $18.99
a bottle, with 13.5% alcohol in it, ... this unfiltered dy and elegant and
toasty, lovely roasted dark and bright berry-flavored Italian red from
Romagna is a pure delight, I really like it, I do, it is a fine wine to
enjoy with your meal, you will like it, a treat, and under $20! And you may
taste it here this Saturday with family member Sylvia that will be here
tasting it with Robert Kennedy from 2-6PM. Come taste, get a bottle signed,
enjoy, live a little, live as little gloriously now, in the moment, why not
, what are we all waiting for?!?

7) Spanis Cava from ROSSINYOL De Moragas, the Brut dry, $18.99, with
12% alcohol by volume is showing magnificently and I do highly recommend
it. Come try some, a bright utter delight sparkling Spanish cava from the
Penedes region. Cheers!
8) Le Grand COURTAGE Brut sparkling wine from France will be tasted
here tomorrow from 5-8PM by Erin. It is still On Special for $19.99 a
bottle, and we will taste it again to share it's pure brightness and joy
with you, with only 11.5% alcohol by volume, it is a Blanc de Blancs to
really celebrate in an easy and comfortable way!
9) ' Baruccia ' 2011 Sangiovese Superiore Romagna, Italian red from
TENUTA CASALI has more body and depth and gravitas than the ' Palazzina ' I
wrote up earlier here. It is a fine food wine, a really fine wine to be
enjoyed with one of your meals to warm and cheer and make you feel as if
you can move on and along and feel good and even a bit rested and pleased
as you do! Imagine that, imagine this fine ' Baruccia ' touching your lips
and all your thirsty, parched taste-buds, too. Silvia Casali will also
taste this here this coming Saturday, Oct. 24th, 2015 , a free tasting as
always, with Robert Kennedy, join us!

10) 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State's Columbia Valley,
from MURRAY, $22.99 a bottle, with 14.1% alcohol by volume, this is a
deeper, thicker, denser , more modern mouthful and taste that hits harder,
and where the punch lands right on your taste-buds forcefully. No holding
back here, robust and hearty Cab flavors for a meal, like something grilled
outside, some barbecue with a tasty sauce, too.
11) SHVO Vineyards 2011 Sauvignon Blanc from Israel's Upper Galilee,
$34.99, with 13.5% alcohol by volume is showing really well, so flavorful,
so rich, so thick and viscous and hearty and rolling-bold-flow-fleshy and
flirting and flaming warm and tasty! I loved it last night as we celebrated
Galeet's birthday party at our home last night where I grilled salmon and
also made a fresh batch of pesto, with pasta, salad, the works! Nothing was
holding or held back, least of all the wine : a shining star that is from
Israel but not kosher. Galeet recognized the wine when she saw it, smiled
and said that she had been there, as she described it : " a part of
paradise here on earth. " Now I definitely need to go as I love the wines.
She said that it is a valley really packed with the various fruits grown
there, lush and verdant and packed, memorable to her, very.

fabulous Mallorcan dry white QUIBIA made from the red grape Callet but
without the red color, but all the flavor of Callet, and the AN and the AN
2 , I liked the AN 2 best as it is much lighter, a 2013 that is readier to
drink than the 2010 AN which needs another 5-10 years for me! Wonderful
expressions of these wines, we will add the QUIBIA which is an imaginary
place created in their minds, I would go there, the dry white Quibia takes
me there! Gracias Miguelangel!

WE TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN TO YOU just as I did to a customer about the
Recioto we sell in500ml bottles, that the word ' recioto ' is derived from
the word ' ear ' in Italian, that it is the riper, more unctuous, more
silky, fruit-forward style of the Corvina grape, Negrara, Rhondinella, and
others ...

THE AIM IS SO SIMPLE we often do not see the big picture and what we want most!
We are all guilty of this. I was just thinking this when I drove to work this
morning and some sunshine broke through and the Kennedy Center was covered in
bright clarity and the backdrop was of baby-blue skies and a couple of puffy
white clouds, too. I loved it : made me smile through and through. That, with
the loud smacks of many acorns falling at the same time in our parking pot out
back , and hitting many of our neighbors' cars was startling and made me walk
here to work all the more briskly. I did not get hit by any acorns fortunately,
and I do feel for the poor and defenseless cars that did.

SO I HAVE STARted the day really well and am thrilled that I saw some sunshine
and blue skies before the rain comes later today. That's my treat and it will
carry me through whatever else happens here as I never know exactly, and I have
to be prepared for everything and anything, oh what fun!

LET ME START WITH SPLURGES :

WE'VE GOT SOME REALLY SPECIAL events and bottles here to enjoy together or with
our family , friends, neighbors and special business associates as well.

WOW, what an opportunity to help to bring the old year to a close, to celebrate
in a great fashion, and to put a big accent on our holidays and to ring in the
new year of 2015 early and in grand style! You can make this the highlight of
the end of this year. Make it your special splurge, one of style and elegance,
all-things very special and memorable indeed, in a great setting, too. It's
beautiful there at 701 : you will feel pampered and special on all fronts, from
every angle, from every taste, from every and in every sense!

OF COURSE WE WILL SELL all these FABulous BILLECART-SALMON French Champagnes at
the dinner at great discounted prices to you. I will talk to Richard this week
and start the process of what we may do.

I HAVE SOLD BILLECART-SALMON Champagne now since the mid-eighties and met the
owner way back then when he came down with Robert Chadderdon the New York
importer. That was quite the treat, to drink BILLECART and to see the rose NV
Brut score higher than the DOM PERIGNON and that sealed the fate of BILLECART
and made it an instant star here in the United States.  Robert Parker, Jr.
scored it higher than the BILLECART and, as a thank you to the owner of
BILLECART I offered him a bottle of the SHADOW CREEK from the Santa Cruz
Mountains in California, and he wrote me a hand-written response in a postcard
saying that he had shared it with his family and they had all enjoyed it. Great
memories.

MORE ' Splurges " To RING-IN 2015 and close-out 2014 :

1) Sassicaia Super Tuscan 2008 is now very much a cult-wine and regarded by
many as one of the great Italian wines that serious collectors all muct have, or
know about, or have tasted, or have bought and eventually shared with their
family and friends. Of course buying some 2008 Sassicaia and giving it as a '
thank you ' is also a very real possibility , as we all have people that have
done many special things for us and this Sassicaia 2008 says a big thank-you in
real style, like giving a bottle of Billecart- Salmon Champagne, it's in the
same league to many. I have heard in rumors that some of our local sports
celebrities are true fans of both Sassicaia as well as of Orelia's ' Masseto '.

WE SELL the SASSICAIA 2008 regularly for $229.99 a bottle, and now it is On
Special for $199.99 a bottle. Limited supply, really approaching maturity and
may be enjoyed now with a great Italian meal. Perhaps you can take it to one of
the great Italian restaurants here in Washington D.C., or better yet, contact
one of the chefs like Roberto Donna and tempt him to come and fix you a special
meal to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or this holiday?!

SPEAKING OF ' Splurges ', We Also Have :

2) CHATEAU d'YQUEM Lur Saluces 1985 and also 1998 Sauternes, 375ML /
half-bottles of the world's most famous Sauternes in the whole, wide world.
There is no dispute, everyone puts CHATEAU D'YQUEM at the top of every list as
one of the great dessert wines, one of the greatest liquid wine-treats, perhaps
even one of the Ten Wonders of the World even? It sure ranks high up as one of
those ' must- have ' experiences, should be on everyone's ' bucket list ', you
know, before you ...

SO :

TWO Vintages of CHATEAU d'YQUEM for you all, with some real bottle age, a 1995
and a 1998 : and half-bottles age more quickly than the 750ml bottles, and the
color is also quite golden on both bottles, that alone is a visual treat to the
eye that alerts our taste-buds to pay closer attention before they all kick into
high-gear as a result of the very first sip, the very first ' touch ' of this
liquid Sauternes to your tongue ... special indeed.

SPEAKING EARLIER OF Ornelaia 2008 ' Masseto ' ...

WE HAVE IT :

' Masseto ' Super-Tuscan 2008 from Italy : it's a more current treat that
is or should be on the tongues of many wine-lovers, wine-collectors,
wine-afficionadoes, ...

Such small production, such attention to detail, such a full-flavor,
full-taste, more modern-style red that is at the top of it's game, at the top of
it's popularity now : THE ' In Thing " to do, to have, to possess, to own, to
buy, drink and share with family and friends at a grand event in your lives/

It should be, too : it's a car-payment, it's a small weekend vacation, it's
a whole meal for many, and a really fine meal at that for perhaps four ...

SO : ORNELIAI is a great commitment, a big deal, a very special deal indeed...
how may we help you to seal this deal?!?

BUT HEY, WE ALSO HAVE a ridiculous deal for you all : From Robert Kennedy and
from Silvia Casali the owner of the CASALI Romagna, Italy wines at the
