Marvelous : Balanced, Honest Expressions , Very Drinkabe & Enjoyable Wines To Pair Well Wit Most Meal And Also Sip Before!

Winemaker MatthewCrafton of CHATEAU MONTELENA visits with Steven Schattman of Touton to taste the exciting ' new ' Sauvignon Blanc, the classic leaner Chardonnay, lighter-brighter, not as big, much more pleasing, and the Primitivo-clone Zinfandel that is so Italian in taste, kighter-more muscle and sinew and airy brawn - I liked it, and the classic Cabernet Sauvignons, a 2011 and a 2012 : I liked everything, and am delighted that the Chard and the 2012 Cab. Sauv. come in magnums, too : love it all, love that Matthew comes originally from Richmond, Virginia, like their small-family phylosopht, taht they do things becasue it is right and not just corporate-profitable : bravo Chateau Montelena and Matthew Crafton : you are the best, the cream-of-the-crop, le top-niveau, ... cheers! Photo abaove with Theresa Morrison. What a great moment to share with those lucky enough to have visited our store at the time like Dwight that was nice enough to take these photos - thanks so much Dwight, Chris, John Peters, Theresa Morrison, Nancy Corsiglia ( that had been there and could tell Matthew quickly her experiences there, favorable ), Steven Our Uptown Eye Doctor across Connecticut Avenue, Andrew Webber, and more ... what fun, so serendipitous, so special!

Winemaker Matthew Crafton at CHATEAU MONTELENA In Napa Valley for 7 years wrote to me today, Wednesday afternoon, May 20th, 2015 just before leaving : " Don't change .... pleas. " Now that means a whole lot to me. Thank you for that Matthew for that. I wo't change, too young for that now! I really enjoyed trying all your wines here today, what a grand treat, it was very special for me. I liked all the wines, I liked the style, the honesty, their unique character and not trying more than they can be from the growing conditions, the soil and the age of the vines and being wines that I would indeed enjoy drinking myself. Nice.I liked hearing the phylosophy behind them, that the Zinfandel was a labor-of-love to make and certainly not the most profitable, and yet because you all believe you do it anyway : LOVED that! Also loved hearing the small bit about Virginia and the winery that Dave Mathew's mother owns and where I believe you said you know the winemaker, at BLENHEIM? Nice. Do you also know Brad McCarthey? Cheers, let's stay in touch. I would like that. TONY 5/20/2015 Come back again anytime : you are always welcome,
