  • Anthony Quinn Both in stores as well as on restaurant lists. Yesterday at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits we poured the RIO/SOL Sao Frasisco dry red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz that we sell for $10.99 a bottle and it sold really well. That's sweet! Love it, the wines is really good just like the SALTON Merlot listed here as well as the SALTON Pinot Noir that is roasted and toasted darker cheery flavors accented with strawberries and some enticing spices, too , $17.99 a bottle on our shelves , as well as THE ' work horse " Tannat, $11.99 that is more fruit-forward and easy to approach immediately with or without a meal : both that sell really well, too. Cheers, great work! TONY 3/20/2014

I took this picture above in a fine restaurant in the town of Bento Goncalves that I went to and enjoyed a fine meal in late June, 2012 with a bottle on the DUNAMIS organic Merlot I believe, or was it a red blend? It was light and fresh and balanced and a perfect foil for what we ate there.

And just today, Monday March 31st, 2014 I am discovering the SUZIN Winery in southern Brazil's highest elevation for grapes and vines : the Sao Joaquim region of Santa Catarina where I am told SUZIN grows the following ... I copied and pasted this , as well as what is above from my Facebook conversations that I am happy to be sharing in my blog format so that more of this might come to light - come to life, and reach a broader audience of those interested in the fine quality of wine that is currently being made in Brazil in the six or so regions where grapes are grown ( with the possibility of up to three harvests in a year in certain regions I am told - definitely two ), but that are sadly not available in many markets outside Brazil yet. Some is available in the United States like the RIO/SOL, SALTON, CASA VALDUGA, MIOLO and  LIDIO CARRARO, DON GUERINO and a couple of others, but there is hardly any talk of any of this yet. I / we hope to change that with posts like these. Join us, let's all " MAKE SOME BIG NOISE " for the excellent wines of Brazil!

I will continue to add to this, it will be a ' work in progress ' of mine. Please fell free to comment here. Let's all be heard here in the United States, in England and China, Germany and all the regions of the world where wine is enjoyed! Cheers, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn  3/31/2014

  • Rogério Gomes Hi Mr. Anthony Quinn ,
These wines are made with grapes from the highest vineyards in Brazil, in São Joaquim - Santa Catarina – South Brazil. The vineyards in this region are sited in altitudes varying between 900 and 1.400 meters above sea level. Suzi
n is a small producer with 7 hectares planted at 1.200 meters above sea level. The cultivars planted are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are fresh, round and very enjoyable.

  • Anthony Quinn Thank you Rogerio, I will share this information on my Facebook as well as in a blog to let more people know that these wines are in fact being made and that they deserve our attention. Tell me more about these vintages? Obregado, bom dia! Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn 3/31/2014

Thanks Laurita ( Greene ), it sure was a great tasting with Sotiris, Iason, and Nasos , and the wines showed the best ever as they have been here awhile and aging and growing gracefully. One of the stars was the " Adoli Ghis ' dry white 2011 blend of Lagorthi, Asproudes and Alepo Roditis from ANTONOPOULOUS Vineyards SA , $21.99, 12.5% alcohol by volume, from Patras, Greece that , to me was reminding me a whole lot of the best dry Rhone white wines with so much richness and a finesse, an elegance, a buoyancy, a liveliness of creamed nuts and various honey accents that was like being rocked gently in a rope hammock with just the gentlest breeze and motion all around my tongue and palate that I found exhilarating and intriguing. I loved it. It showed and sold really well last night as it's pretty much all there with no need to wait any longer for more. Enjoy a glass by itself and then with a meal, many a meal, kick back, smile, hum, close your eyes, have a revelation or ' new thought ' and be off somewhere special! Cheers, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn 3/29/2-14 last night at Cleveland Park Wines Cleveland Park Wine & Spirits, Friday, March 28th, 2014 from 5-8PM. What a great tasting! ALSO : Tasted the 2006 ' Private Collection ' dry red , $On Special for $17.99, 14% alcohol by volume, from ANTONOPOULOS that was completely open and ready to enjoy now that we sold completely out of and need to order more from you Sotiris ASAP! THanks again Sotiris, you are doing a great job and it was great to have you all here to help sell these FABulous wines of ANTONOPOULOS Vineyards in Patras, Greece. TONY
What a great tasting of the finest Greek dry red, rose and white wines : with grapes like Moscofilero and Agiorgitiko and more with Natalie, Rachel, Iason, Nasos, Sotiris, Joe and me - Tony, TONIGHT, Friday, March 28th, 2018 from 5-8PM. Cheers, TONY Oh, and Konstantanis, Sotiris' brother was also here, with the Greek gentleman pictured in the light olive-green coat with a name hard to pronounce: Deterius was it?!? Something like that anyway ... cheers all, TONY

The pictures tell some of it all, many people showed up to taste, many people learned and bought. Everyone pitched in, everyone was helpful, using the map and speaking of Greece and all it's wonders and joys that include wine, of course.

It takes a village, it takes a country to express some of the joy and the wonder that is a people, a place, a culture , a life-style, a philosophy, a pleasure, a full life and experience of many things glorious.

I was thrilled that Sotiris had so many of those important and lose to him show up to lend their hands, their knowledge and their experiences to this as they spoke individually to many of our customers like Rachel and Natalie and so many others like Michael, and another Michael the photographer, and Todd, and Marty , Rick, and the list goes on and on ...

It takes a village as I said ...  thanks all, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn  Saturday, March 29th, 2014 here at the store as I finish this and post this and get ready to sell more Greek wines today as we open a bottle with Danielle of Santorini HATZIDAKIS Winery dry white, 2012, On Special for $19.99, 13.5% alcohol by volume. JEAN-LUC COLOMBO French Wines I Tasted Thanks To Franceen That Then Worked For Palm Bay : THE Visual Fun & Stimulation ' Et Envie De Boire, D'essayer ' That I Hope These Pictures I Took Give & Convey! The Rose Is In Washington Post Today, Wed. March 26th, 2014 : So Posting This Now!

What great news, the dry JEAN-LUC COLOMBO rose is recommended in the Washington Post newspaper's wine column today in the Food section , Wednesday March 26th, 2014 : SO : I will post this now even though I want to include more. What fun, what great timing. I love this serendipitous quality to things, go with things, go with the flow. Cheers,  TONY 3/26/2014

... and there's still lots of snow, freshly-fallen yesterday, on the ground outside. Spring is coming, just dragging it's feet!

Being an artist I like to bring another element, a visual one that gives us all the desire, the inspiration, the kick-in-the-pants that we need to go out and find a wine like these from JEAN-LUC COLOMBO that makes some really great French wines in all the price categories for us all to enjoy as we can, as our lives permit, as our wallets allow, and given the idea.

On this day Francine had a woman with her that is pictured below. I will have to find my notes and her card to include here name here as it deserves to be included. It may have been that she was waiting to taste me on other wines besides these of JEAN-LUC COLOMBO? I cannot recall at this moment. I may have enjoyed simply including her here as I have because she is an attractive woman? Ahhh, that artistic licence of mine sure does get get me in trouble from time-to-time, and here at least, I am admitting that I am indeed in trouble as I have included these pictures of her along with those of Francine, and I have absolutely no idea now who she is?!? Sorry.

But I will play the ' art card ' and say that as an artist I need some room to do things like this , from time to time, that stand on their own, that need no explanation, as the pictures themselves speak volumes themselves. And my ultimate goal is to make someone like you looking at these pictures and reading my commentary simply want to come to our store Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits in Northwest Washington D.C., 20008 ( or another of your choice ) in search of this or another JEAN-LUC COLOMBO wine! If you do this then I have succeeded in my mission with the help of this woman here along with Franceen : the three of us have worked our combined magic on you and it has worked - we have made a good team.

WOW, IT'S SNOWING fine white beads outside and my inclination earlier at home
was to curl up on our couch and write about some sparkling wine I had recently
enjoyed watching the fine beads rise up ...

IT OCCURRED TO ME  that it would be quite the photographic feat to take a glass
of fine sparkling wine outside and watch the fine snow and the fine white
bubbles touch and kiss : that's my artistic bent, and I did not have the time to
do this, but someday ... what about you?!?

SO : WE ALL KNOW IT, none of us are ready for this snow! It's too much,
beautiful , but way, way too much! What can we do? Nothing, simply enjoy it, be
inspired by it, and perhaps make a snowman or two, throw a snowball or two, take
some fresh snow and make a flavored snow cone ? That could be nice, alcoholic or
not, depending? Have fun, that's the main thing, engage your inner child again
as you can, as nature helps you to do so as we continue to grow we do not have
to grow tired and old in growing, do we?! I wrote the part below a little while
ago and posted it on our Facebook page at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. Have
you all pushed the LIKE button on our Facebook page? That would be nice. Please
do so and keep up daily with our activities and announcements that are numerous,
colorful, engaging, about us and the neighborhood , and any opportunities that I
hear of that you might all be interested in?
