NO STORE CAN BE EVERYTHING to everyone but it sure is fun and challenging to
try. We share and we share alike and are happy for the business that you do
bring us. As we start this new year we want we re thrilled to able to tell you
that because of you all we did well enough in these difficult times and are
thankful for that. Having said all of this please do share with us any concerns
or ways in which you think that we can make your experience and times here even
more rewarding?

WE HAVE STARTED STRONG with a number of great deals with California that I
mentioned in last week's email and we have organized two dinners so far ( one
at PF7's with chef/owner Peter Smith and one at Palena with chef Frank Ruta ).
Now we have the date for our first BIG-THEME Wine-Tasting of 2012 : Valentine's
Day BIG-THEME on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 from 5:30-8:30PM. This will be
fun to organize and I have to get cracking this week! WE will have some " new "
wines for you to look at and help you before and after as well as during your
restaurant meal if you chose to go out. We can give you some ideas here a week
before so that you can either alert the restaurants in advance or simply ask
them when you get there if they have some of what we taste the Wednesday before
on the 8th of February.

WE WANT YOU TO HAVE FUN, we want you to be prepared in part. It's a fun time -
a special time Valentine's Day, JOIN US : NEVER any charge. Bring someone or
meet someone here. It happens all the time as we are always making
introductions and people that are regulars here are always introducing
themselves to the ones that they don't know already. It's really very friendly
here if you don't know this already.WE will taste between 30-40 different wines
all with the idea that they can be enjoyable with a meal or all by themselves.

OUR MEAL @ PF7's has been moved to February 7th, 2012 : a Tuesday. I have
posted the menu on our web page already at : www.clevelandparkwine.com. Check
it out and call the restaurant to reserve your seats there. That could be a
great " early - prelude " dinner to Valenti's Day a week later? Price is : $95
plus tax and gratuity.

OUR DINNER @ PALENA ( cost is : $120 a person plus tax and gratuity ) with
owner and winemaker Peter Franus of his own winery PETER FRANUS is going well
and we should have the menu any day now. The wines to be served for that dinner
will be : 1) Sauvignon Blanc,  2) Zinfandel,  3) Brandlin Zinfandel,  4)
Cabernet Sauvignon and a  4) Bordeaux red blend. I will include the vintages
and the menu ASAP. Cheers.

smooth and mellow tasting, with a character all of its own ".
2) " Our Side " Stillwater Artisanal Two Gypsies of MIKKELLER ( On Special
for $11.99 a bottle, 1 Pt. 9.4 Fl. Ounces ; 7.5% alcohol by volume, from
Westminster, Maryland, www.electricmadnes.com ) is  " a collaborative Gypsy ale
" made by " Mikkel and Brian, two of the world's most unconventional brewers
... they have found the freedom to experiment and innovate, resulting in unique
beers ... "
3) 2011 PEPI NERO Belgian Draft Style from GOOSE ISLAND ( On Special for
$7.99 a bottle . 6.50ml/ 1 Pint 6 Fluid Ounces, 6% alcohol by volume , Chicago,

LIQUOR/ LIQUEUR From Ravinder Sharma :

1) ABUELO Anejo 7 Anos Reserva Superior aged rum  of VARELA ( $24.99,
desde 1908 is a product of Panama, kosher for Passover ) is distinctly rounded
with exceptional taste.
2) ABUELO Anejo 12 Anos Gran Reserva from VARELA ( $38.99, product of
Panama ) is showing beautifully now is a beautifully aged rum. What a treat!
3) Spruce Gin from ROGUE Spirits ( $34.99 , from Newport, OR 97365 ,
www.rogue.com ) is " new and exciting "
4) GALLIANO L'Autentico 9( $20.99,  375ml bottle, 42.3% alcohol by volume
) is a product of Holland that has been around for years and stood the test of
time. Created in 1896, it's a liqueur, originally distilled at Distilleria by
Artura Vaccari in Livorno, Italia ). My customer Laura  came by with her
favorite coffee recipe. It involves equal parts of Tequila, Galliano and coffee
with some whipped cream and a dusting of  chocolate. Laura claims that it is
wonderful and that it is still her favorite recipe even after all these years
and she continues to look for things to equal it. It odes not sound like it
would be great but she swears by it.

WINES From Ean and Tony :

WHITES :

1) Graffiano Pinot Grigio from the AMITY VINEYARDS ( $18.99 ) from their
Croft Vineyard in the Willamette Valley of Oregon is drinking like a splendid
dream filled with lots of flavors and kodacolor and pizzaz and bottled for chef
Mike Isabelle of the new Graffiano restaurant here in Washington D.C.
2) Bukettraube 2011 from the CEDERBERG winery in South Africa ( $19.99 ,
www.envirowines.com ) is back in stock. One of the greatest, rarest
touch-off-dry and flavorful wines ever made and we have a small amount to sell
you all that are lucky enough to know it already or quick enough , and trusting
enough to dash down here on my say so.
3) CHATEAU LES ARROMANS 2010 dry white Bordeaux Entre-Deux-Mers ( $11.99 )
from Joel and Sandrine Duffau a Moulon, Bordeaux is a great everyday treat. WE
love selling it here. Come check it out : great value for the money and all the
bristling fresh flavors you get, too.

REDS :

1) " Elsa " BIANCHI Malbec 2010 ( $10.99 ) from Medoza, Argentina I
believe is the very first Malbec from Argentina to come to Washington D.C.
before it was popular and back as far as 1983-5? I think that is all correct. I
lived through it all here and my memory is a bit fuzzy looking back until then
but I think I have the dates approximate? Anyway this ELSA is bold and hearty,
gutsy and nothing wimpy about it. It needs a meal. Cheers : great value, too.
TRY THE " Original " here from Argentina and buy one of the Cahors " originals
" from France as well. Cheers.
2) Nebbiolo from Ludoun County, Virginia  from BREAUX VINEYARDS ( $21.99,
13.3% alcohol by volume ) - this " Graffiato " 1st edition is also made for
Mike Isabelle the chef of Graffiato Restaurant that was also on the show Top
Chef and the executive chef at Zaytinya in the past. It's a good food wine.
3) Shiraz/ Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 of the ELDERTON Winery in the Barossa
Valley, this " Tantalus " is 68% Shiraz and 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and a
hearty-beefy mouthful. It's carbon neutral, I got to visit it years ago and one
of the two brothers has been here to our store. This a wonderfully full
mouthful to be enjoyed with a meal. For more info go to :
www.eldertonwines.com.au. Cheers.
4) " Campaccio " 2007 Toscana TERRABIANCA ( $35.99 ) is back in the store.
it's an old favorite : flavorful and complex and again best when paired with a
meal or some flavorful cold-cuts like some prosciutto . For more info go to :
www.empson.com. From Radda in Chianti, it's 13.5% alcohol by volume.
5) Zinfandel from BLAAUWKLIPPEN , this 2005 ( On Special for $24.99,
regularly at ; $33.99 ) is from South Africa's Stellenbosch region and it's an
absolutely amazing bottle of wine that reminds me a whole lot of many great
Italian earthy and flavorful and classic wines that are always amazing and best
when paired with meals that are tasty and savory and mouth-watering. WE bought
the rest : there will be no more for quite some time so come by and get it
while you still can. It's incredible, really a work-of-art... like an
unpolished Michelangelo marble sculpture ...
6) " La Cappuccina " from MADEGO is a dry Italian Veneto blend of Cabernet
Sauvignon 70%, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. made by the Tessari family (
www.lacappuccina.it, www.siemawines.com )  is made from organic grapes and is
quite bold and hearty with good acidity and again best with a meal. Medium
bodied and tasty. Cheers.
7) " Campo Buri " dry ITalian red from the veneto region of Italy is made
again by La CAPPUCCINA and is a hearty, robust and thick blend of Carmenere
90%, and 10% Oseleta. The alcohol is 14,5% and it makes the wine really quite
flavorful, It;s young now and definitely tastes best with food. No need to rush
this one. Take either over to DINO restaurant tonight or any night that Dean
and Kay the owners do not charge for corkage. They would be great with their
food and complement them excellently!
