Downey Imports 2010 : Trying A Sampling Of The VIETTI Piemontese Wines & Remembering The Mayflower Days In The 1980's!

Downey imports annual wine-tasting with reps and owners and national sales managers in March on 2010 I believe? It was another really memorable wine-tasting and I post this again here ( read the full blog back in 2010 that I posted for all the details. ) to remind you of these excellent VIETTI Piemontese wines that we carry at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel: 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com http://www.clevelandparkwine.com/, anthony.quinn@clevelandparkwine.com, also on Facebook now at : Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits and on Twitter at : cpwinespirits ). We have some of the excellent dry red Nebbiolo now as well as the dry white, aromatic Arneis I believe. Call for more info.

I have sold these wines ever since meeting the husband and wife owners back at the Mayflower Wines & Spirits in the early eighties with Sidney Moore and Michael Downey. What great days those were. They hardly spoke any English but were delightful. Later they sent their daughter Elizabetta to Washington to learn English and the business and she was an utter delight. Alessandro Furlan from FRANCO FURLAN wines in Friuli was here at the same time doing the very same thing. I had them both over to dinner back then at our old apartment in the Lorcom House in North Arlington just across the street from what is now Arrow Wines. Great memories. I have some great old black-and-white photos from that dinner that I will have to find and post here : the really young Elizabetta and the really young Alessandro. What fun! Cheers, TONY
