Big Theme Tasting July 1st, 2010, With DEMOCRACY Vineyards, VA. Owners Jim and Susan Here @ Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits In Our Nation's Capitol

It was great to get both Jim and Susan of their DEMOCRACY Vineyards just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia to come and pour a full selection of their current releases which included a dry apple wine ( they have an apple orchard on their property ) as well as their two dry reds ( FORUM a blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot ); their VELVET REVOLUTION ( a blend of Chambercin, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and more - my very favorite ) ) , their " new " dry white Viognier, and their dry white blend of grapes. All the wines sell from $13.49 for the dry apple wine to $21.99 for the " new " dry Viognier.

They all showed well on this Thursday evening here at Cleveland Park in our nation's capitol on July 1st. We were celebrating three " days of Independence " of three countries in July : Canada ( it was Canada Day ), the U.S. ( 4th of July ) and France ( the 14th of July - Bastille Day ).

We had five tables with 32 wines being poured.

These are just but a few of the pictures that I took during the wine-tasting that included DEMOCRACY ( Jim and Susan being owners were two of our special guests ), PELEE ISLAND( Canada), GRUET still and sparkling wines ( U.S. ), CAMBIS Saint Chinian, ( France ) and many more. John and Theresa Morrison ( owners of Boutique Vineyards imports ), Matt of Suprex Imports, Olivia Bombart ( president with her husband Oscar of VOILA Collections French wines ), Arielle Monaco ( of Country Vintners poured GRUET still Pinot Noir & Chardonnay 2007 and sparkling New Mexico bubblies - Brut, Blanc De Noir, Extra Dry and Sauvage ).

It was a great event and here I have posted some of my more artsy photos of both Jim and Susan as seen through my Reidel wine-tasting glass with their wine in the glass. I have many more pictures and will add them as I am able. In the meantime enjoy these pictures and stay-tuned for many more here and in other blogs of this Thursday evening at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel : 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ).

We still have all of the DEMOCRACY wines from Virginia at the store so come by for more to continue celebrating the 4th of July. Last night for my 4th of July celebration with family and friends we enjoyed the " new " Viognier from DEMOCRACY. It's so fresh and bright and balanced and it tasted great last night even with all the heat of that glorious day that carried into the evening.

Thanks Jim and Susan for pouring for our customers. We appreciate it very much. TONY
