Sake Tasting Thurs, Oct. 8th, 2009 @ Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits With Ataru Kobayashi ( Niigata Sake Selections ) 5-8 PM With C.P. Customers

I've got my work cut out here because I have to mention the five sakes that we opened and shared here with our customers at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. It was a very interesting group of people that tasted throughout the three hour in-store tasting : some new sake well, some a bit and some not at all.

It was well received : all of the sakes. We pretty much sold some of each of them and that is always a good sign. Some of course were quite expensive and did not sell as much because of price. That is unfortunately a big factor for most people.

Because of this it does afford people at least a chance to try all the various types ( made from different rices, polished to different degrees and made in different locales with different waters. This all has a big effect on the outcome of the tastes of each of these different sakes.

Today there seems to be pretty much a sake made for any palate or taste. Be patient and try them slowly and let them grow on you : permit yourselves the chance to let them work their charms on you. It will happen. You simply must not be in a rush, you must serve them at the right temperatures and you must have some food on hand. All these will ensure that your appreciation for sake will grow.

I will of course include the names of the sakes that we tasted just last night at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel : 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ), Thursday, October 8th, 2009 from 5-8 PM.

Stay-tuned for more really soon. I am home now in northern Virginia as I type this and away from my notes but I will add them tomorrow. Cheers, TONY
