Dan Of TAMARACK CELLARS, Columbia Valley, Washington State , Tastes 2 Wines : Firehouse Red '07/ '05 Syrah Fri. May 8th, 2009

This was a really fun tasting for me where I felt I connected very much with Dan of TAMARACK CELLARS in Washington State's Columbia Valley. Jeremy Sutton Of Kysela Pere Et Files Et Fille called to ask if he could bring Dan by and I said : " of course ". Every winemaker and wine owner is always welcome at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel:202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ) where I manage the wine department.

It's now December 4th, 2009 on Saturday night and Dan and Jeremy Sutton came to see me back in May or April was it? It was May 8th, 2009! Anyway this blog entry is way overdue and I apologize for that. It's hard to keep up with all the excellent people that come to Cleveland Park and deserve to be mentioned here. It keeps me on my toes, really it does. But I like this kind of a challenge.

Dan Had the kind of response to my reactions/questions and statements that stood up to both them and to me and I liked this. It was like a two-man play and we were both getting are lines delivered to the maximum effects. I think we both were a bit surprised and yet pleased with these quick exchanges and developments between the two of us. I know that I was.

I enjoyed tasting both the Firehouse red blend 2007 from the Columbia Valley as well as the 2005 Syrah. They were both well-made and I will now have to check my notes to finish this blog entry.

I hate to leave it like this and yet I would like to finally get these pictures posted so that they may be helpful and hopefully appreciated by those that see them. Being an artist myself I really like playing with the serendipitous approach that I take to getting fun and original/unique angles and compositions between the wines, the glasses, the bottles, labels and the people. I do like all of this as well as seeing the color of the wine including it's clarity.

It's all one big, wonderful challenge and it's always growing and changing , especially these days when everything has been accelerated to such a quick pace that it's indeed hard to keep up. At least it is never boring this way.

I look forward to meeting Dan again. I'd like to drink some of his wines with a meal to get their full expression and meaning as I see them more contextually in a tapestry that includes not only the food but the people gathered round.

Stay-tuned for an update really soon. Cheers, TONY

Happy Holidays to one and to all this December 2009 ...

With Jeremy Sutton, enjoy, TONY
