Alberto Benenoti, Assistant Vineyard Manager At Catena, Mendoza, Argentina At Cleveland Park Wed. May 13th, 2009 Tasting 3 Alta Wines

With Alberto Benenoti we tasted the three " Alta " CATENA wines : 2006 Chardonnay, 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2005 Malbec That were all showing really well earlier today. I don't think that they have ever tasted better, especially the Chardonnay which is more elegant, refined : the fruit comes through in a better balance and the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is polished, bright, smooth and really delicious now . It does not have the power, flame or the " immediacy " of the 2005 Malbec but I think at this stage that it is the better-balanced wine that shows better now ( I could drink it better in this hot weather than the more fiery 2005 Malbec ). Nice all-around wines that raise the bar continually.

I got Alberto to sign the bottles of 2005 Malbec Alta that we currently have ( $59.99 ). Get one while you still can.

Enjoy these photos of Alberto, William and Jody's visit here earlier. I will later today fill in the details a bit more about the wines and Alberto's visit. In the meantime enjoy these pictures. Cheers, TONY
