Winemaker Julien Sunier of Cru Beaujolais MOMESSIN, Burgundy, France Here Tasting His " New " 2005 Cru Village Releases

It was great to get Julien Sunier, winemaker of the Cru Beaulolais from the excellent burgundy house of MOMMESIN into the store on the afternoon of February 1st, 2006. He acme with our BOISSET rep Sam and our Bacchus rep Sal. Together Mike Martin and I tasted the excellent Gamay Cru Beaujolais wines from the towns of Bruouilly ( 2 different wines tasted ), Morgon and Moulin-A-Vent. They were so good these flavorful, wine-perfumed dark, glistening diflective-reflective-shiny ( like the wet skin of a green frog- imagine that in dark, ruby red! ). They jumped from the glasses outward bound and it was the task of our mouths and tongues to catch their liquid essences before they escaped us all together. Wow. This was fun, this was a treat! Gamay tasting so vibrant and exciting : I really enjoyed how these wines started to make me fall all over again in love / or at least smitten with the Gamay grape. They began to have more and more my rapt attention and it was exciting to give an order for these excellent southern burgundy wines from the 2005 vintage.

Julien was quite the appropriate ambassador for these wines as well. He lived and breathed life into them with words, actions and sweeps of his arms and body and broad smiles even before one tasted them. He wasn't going to let anyone pass by and away from him until they understood and appreciated the magic that these Gamay wines of his conveyed/expressed and carried with them wherever they went/whenever they were tasted! Yes! I see! I get it! Look at these fun pictures. We all got bit by the Gamay bug, it's obvious, isn't it?!?

We are of course now all SOLD-OUT of these excellent wines and have to try the new vintages. When we received them two-three months later they sold from $18 for the simpler Brouilly to twenty to twenty-three for the fancier other three. I bet that they are still really showing well now and would love to have some in a glass as I type this on this cold Monday evening at 5:57 PM on December 8th, 2008 here at home in northern Virginia.

When will you be back Julien? You are now long-overdue for another visit. We need your expertise and some more of your excellent Gamay wines!

Happy Holidays to One and to All this 2008. Cheers, TONY
