TALTARNI Victoria South Australian Tasting 2005 With Peter Bentley & Jennifer Horsley And Peter

It was great to Have Jennifer Horsley of CLOS DU VAL, TALTARNI and DOMAINE DE NIZAS back again here in the store tasting with our customers here at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Connecticut Avenue N.W. Washington D.C. 2008 Tel: 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ). This time she brought with her Peter Bentley the Brand Manager of TALTARNI Vineyards ( 339 Taltarni Road  Moonambel Victoria 3478  Tel : +613 5459 7900 Fax : +613 5467 2306 peter@taltarni.com.au  www.taltarni.com.au ) and it was fun to finally meet someone that I had heard about for some time. He did not fail to deliver, either. Both Peter and Jennifer were in fine form this evening late in the year 2005.

We had a really lively evening here in the store this evening. Lots of our customers were really happy to be here trying the TALTARNI   ( we currently have the 2005, $14.49 ) Sauvignon Blanc,  the " Three Monks "  Cabernet Sauvignon ( we have the 2005 $17.49 ), the Shiraz and the 2001 " Cephas " ( we sell it now for $47.99 ) Pyrenees, Victoria and the amazing CLOVER HILL Tasmanian sparkling wine,( we sell the 2001 now at $38.49 ) which is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 34% Pinot Noir and 6% Pinot Meunier. It was showing beautifully that evening and we tasted it again last month and it was even more open, brighter, softer and creamier-dreamier on the many thirsting taste buds of mine anyway.

As always we sold many bottles and welcomed many people / made many new friends and took care of many old, favorite ones. That's what we do here. We share and we offer up many experiences for everyone to join in on. That's family, that's welcoming, that's teaching and educating in a relaxed, open and friendly fashion. No points, no reviews, no stuffiness, no one-up-man -ship I hope. Just come and be a part of the moment. " We have the world in a moment "  ( I am paraphrasing Tom Shroder in his article recently in the Washington Post Sunday magazine where he spoke of his college experience in Utrecht )to take full advantage of ; let's not waste any time - let's not waste our precious moments. That's what we have and we are some of us more lucky than others to know and appreciate it.

Holly Kapica ( then with Negociants U.S.A. , Inc , now with the HESS Group ) came because she's a good friend of Peter's. So did other friends towards the end of the tasting. Gary Gilbert was here, too. We had a customer's friendly black miniature poodle here as well. Lots of excitement, lots of activity. Thanks Peter and thanks Jennifer.

Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Come by and join us tonight , Friday, Novemeber 21st, 2008 from 5-8 PM when Frenchman Alexis comes to pour Bobby Kacher's wines ( TARIQUET whites : dry Sauvnon Blanc 2007 $10.99, and a blend of Chardonnay/Sauvignon Blanc  " Cote Tariquet " $12.99), ANDRE BRUNEL'S 2005 Cotes du Rhone, $11.99  : and the FONT de VENT Cotes du Rhone VillagesEtienne GONNET, $14.49 ) for our rep Ronnie Miller. It will be fun to have Alexis here with us for the first time. Welcome Alexis!

On Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 we have from 3-7 PM Lisa Giufre pouring a selection of red Rhone BERTHET-RAYNE  and the SERENITY California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Everyone is always welcome. Bring family and friends and help us make this yet another " moment "/event here in our nation's capitol! Sante, cheers,  TONY
