Guido Busetto Owner Of Castello di SELVOLE Siena Italy Visits / Tastes New Releases With Cleveland Park Customers Dec. 28th, 2005

It's always great to taste fine Tuscan Italian wines. Those of Castello di SELVOLE are primo and some of the best I have had ever. Guido makes a super-Tuscan red called Barullo that is a third Sangiovese, a third Cabernet Sauvignon and a third Merlot. With Guido in the store we tasted the excellent 2000 vintage as well as Guido's red Sangiovese and his Chianti Classico, too. We sold some of all of Guido's wines but obviously more of both the two latter wines as they were under thirty dollars and the Barullo was around $55 if memory serves me well.

Guido's Castello di SELVOLE Tuscan reds are represented by Vinifera Imports. As I have already said Vinifera only brings us the honest-to-goodness-traditional-top-flight-Italian wines. I may not like them personally but their quality if not corked is impeccable. They are some of Italy's all-time best wines. Regis our then local Vinifera rep brought Guido to us. Thanks Regis for bringing us Guido as well as all the others, too. You really represented the Vinifera wines superbly in our store and you went the extra mile or two each and every time for us and for that I will always be grateful.

There's a picture of you here standing full-length in one of the pictures with Guido. The other of Guido is with me. These are great souvenirs for us of these wonderful moments spent together and with our customers at Cleveland Park. It really is a small, tight-knit community that we are pleased to serve and be an integral part of.

I am writing this on Saturday night at 12:32 A.M. to be exact - late at night when I have a " wee " bit of time to myself to include these onto the blog page.

For more technical information about Castello di SELVOLE go to : Loc. Selvole 53010 Vagliagli ( Siena ) Italy. email : selvole@selvole.com www.selvole.com Tel : +39 0577 32662 Fax: +39 0577 322718. I asked Guido to write something in our book. He wrote in Italian and I think he said it was a pleasure to both have/find and be able to sell his wines in a fine wine shop. I will have to get the exact translation and include it later here. It's hard to read your handwriting Guido, especially in Italian. It was a great pleasure to have your wines tasted by you here Guido. Thanks for both your time and energy.

You signed many bottles of wine for us this day Guido and on many of them you drew a picture of a pussy cat with whiskers. When I asked you the significance you mentioned something about your daughter liking pussy cats so you drew them on the bottles ( the glass part ) for her and for our customers. I love this family touch / association. It is the best! It humbles us, really as our children us. It brings out the inner child in us at any age and that is priceless!

Come and see us again soon. It's been almost three years since your last visit and you are way-overdue to come see us again on your next trip to Washington D.C. here at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits ( 3423 Conn. Avenue, N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 Tel : 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com ask for Mike Martin or Tony Quinn for more info about Guido's current releases and their prices.

Here are some pictures for you all to enjoy. I found some just now ( Thursday, November 20th, 2008 - the official release date of France's Beaujolais Nouveau 2008 ! These pictures of Guido in the dark suit were taken here in the store sometime in late 2005. Guido seems pleased in them. Cheers, TONY
