Owner Of ACCORDINI Winery, Valpolicella, Icaria Accordini In-Store Wine-Tasting, Thursday, September 15th, 2005

It was really a treat to get Ilaria Accordini of the ACCORDINI, Veneto Valpolicella winery here in the store to taste our customers on her " new " releases on Thursday, September 15th, 2005 from 5-6 PM. We had quite the crowd show up to taste Ilaria's family wines for this hour or so before she had to be off to host her dinner.

This is what Ilaria wrote for me in my guest winemaker / Owner book before she left this evening. She wrote it in the silver ink pen that we use for signing our wine bottles as gifts :

" Thanks for ' help ' me in my wine tasting. In the future I hope that the actor ( you have the picture !!! ) that I saw you can present me. I think that I'm will meet you and your staff many times. Now I must go because tomorrow morning I go back in Italy but I promise to visit you before the Christmas for to sell all Amarone. See you " Ilaria A.

I think Ilaria is referring to the 2001 Amarone that will be coming soon from Italy on the next Kysela container ; that's what she will come and help us sell. I think we will be okay selling it after having just tasted it and all agreeing how wonderful it is! But Ilaria you are welcome to come anytime you want.

For more information about Azienda Agricola ACCORDINI : Via Bolla, 7 - Pedemonte di Valpolicella - Verona - Italia Tel: e Fax : 045 6020604 accordini@iper.net www.accordini.it. Ilaria's card inside reads : Accordini Igino as the name of the bearer.

I will have to talk to our new Kysela imports rep Jeremy to see what is " new " and " exciting " at ACCORDINI. All I have at the moment is the 2000 ACCORDINI Amarone for just around $50 - everything else is sold-out from our shelves and will be added back for the first week of November , 2008.

With Mary Leigh our last Kysela rep we tried the regular bottling as well as the 2001 ripassa-style and the Amarone and just bought the Amarone because we could not pass it up for the price/value/quality ratio and have bought it twice since and are almost out again! Amarone like this with some bottle age under $50 a bottle today is really a steal!

Here are some of the pictures that I took of the event. Hope that you enjoy them and that they help to bring this brief Veneto moment alive at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits with excellent Valpolicella, Ripassa , Amarone and Recioto della Valpolicella reds, all marvelous and great at their own unique taste-formats and liquid treasures.

Manuel or Fran Kysels Imports rep was kind enough to bring Ilaria by for our in-store tasting and he can be seen in the photos standing behind her in many of them. Tom and other of our customers that love Italian wines was there to taste with Ilaria. We pretty much sold-out of whatever we had in the store at the time and had to get Manuel to send us more of everything the next day.

We liked that, good business and a great way for our customers to go right to the source and inspiration and hope for these wines, too ; as Ilaria represented the future of these wines standing there in front of all of us, passionate about her family's wines and knowledgeable and eager to speak of them and get others to know and appreciate them better. The wines pretty much spoke for themselves but it didn't hurt in the least to have such youth and conviction standing right there before our eyes pouring and speaking with real authority about them as well.

Cheers to you Ilaria and good luck and prosperity wherever you go. We are and will continue to sell your wines in the store. Your having been here makes you like family and we like to stick together and encourage all our family in their efforts and productive liquid wine endeavors!

It's now been just over three years Ilaria since your last visit to our store. You are way overdue for the next on! Please write back after you see this blog and let us know what is new and happening for you all in Valpolicella with your wines these days? We'd love to hear from you. Write in Italian and we will have someone translate here for us.

For any more information about what we have in the store or can order for you from Fran Kysela of the ACCORDINI wines please contact Mike Martin or me ( Tony Quinn ) at 202-363-4265 sales@clevelandparkwine.com www.clevelandparkwine.com fax : 202-237 - 7683 and we will be glad to help you.

Cheers, e Caio Ilaria ! TONY
