Years Of Showing The Vast Diversity Of FRENCH COUNTRY WINES - Vin De Pays Wines Continues / Featured @ Cleveland Park Wines In Sept. 2008

Today we have a small preview of our French country wines that will continue throughout this September 2008 here at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. From 1-4 PM we will taste three reds and one dry rose and I will include more info about that shortly in the next blog after the tasting : o dry red Syrah, a dry red Pinot noir, a Grenache dry red and a blend I believe in a dry red rose : Vin de Pays de Vaucluse, Gard, Les Hautes Cotes des Alpes de Provence, etcetera.

Last year we worked a lot on the Gascogny area of southwest France focusing quite a bit on the DOMAINE TARIQUET that makes really a great diversity of dry white wines : Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and indigenous grape varieties of both Ugni Blanc and French Colombard ( used with Folle Blanche to make Armagnac ). We will taste these next Friday September 12th with our local Robert Kacher rep Ronnie Miller and Lindsay who now works with Washington Wholesalers wholesale. We will also have someone from France that helps Bobby Kacher with the final blends come and taste, too. We will focus on the DOMAINE TARIQUET wines this Friday.

On Wednesday September 10th, 2008 from 5:30-8:30 PM we will host our BIG MONTHLY THEME " Vin de Pays French Wines " here with a number of our local reps coming to pour a selection of thirty or so French Vin de Pays wines , mostly all great values under $15 a bottle. Ronnie and Lindsay will be here, along with Olivia ( small French artisanale country wines ) , Jody ( Winebow imports ), Lisa ( Elite imports ), Candy ( World Shipper imports ), Antonio ( International Cellar imports ), Nicolas ( represents many LOUIS-DRESSNER wines ), and more. We are still finalizing this amazing tasting/opportunity here at the store. Stay-tuned for more updates. EVERYONE WELCOME, bring a friend or a family member or an associate at work. Make this an event for yourselves and have a good time and learn something more about the wealth and diversity of French wines that are still largely unknown to the most of the world. Call Mike or me ( Tony ) here for more info at 202-363-4265. Hope to see you.

I'm typing this Saturday September 6th, 2008 as we are pelted by lots of water and more water from the tropical storms coming up from the south. It will be wet here for awhile but should dry-up by Wednesday!

Here are a few pictures taken here last Wednesday September 3rd when Ronnie Miller and Lindsay came by to discuss our upcoming tastings and especially the DOMAINE TARIQUET Vin de Pays de Gascogne ( also makes great Armagnacs, three or four all sold here at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits 202-363-4265.  www.clevelandparkwine.com. Go to our web page for more info. Cheers, Sante    TONY
