Chad Eakin Pours Four FRENCH VIN DE PAYS At Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits Saturday, Sept. 6th ( 1-4 PM ), 2008 3 Reds, 1 Dry Rose

This was Chad's first visit here. It was nice to meet him and have him taste/speak about some of our fun, exciting and mostly-unknown French wines selections labelled as VIN DE PAYS ( I believe that there are 95 in France ). September is our month of bringing attention to these excellent wines and values from these more obscure areas in France.

This tasting was done in preparation of our BIG THEME monthly September tasting this coming Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 here in at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits at 3423 Connecticut Ave. N.W. Washington D.C. 20008 ( 202 ) 363-4265. Join us, there is NEVER any charge. We will pour around thirty of them from 5:30-8:30 PM.

Chad tasted four dry French Vin de Pays wines : a dry rose from CHATEAU DES SOURCES, Vin de Pays de Gard
30127 called " Fayel ", $9.99 ( 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Franc ) - really smooth, dry :    a dry Full, lush, ripe, succulent Pinot Noir from DOMAINE DE RAGUSSE 2007 ( Vin de Pays des Alpes de Hautes Provence, $10.99 ;   the DOMAINE De GOURNIER dry Grenache noir red from the Vin de Pays des Cevennes ( really quite dark, some softer yet pronounced tannins  and complex,  it's more of a food wine ), 2005 ON SALE for $8.99 ;   and the DOMAINE LOU MAGNAN dry red Syrah from the Vin de Pays du Vaucluse, $9.99 - heartier, beefier, leaner and with more bite that needs food.

Here are some pictures I took of Chad tasting the wines with our customers this afternoon. Cheers,  TONY
