Wednesday June 18th,2008 : Local Reps Taste Their Wines Here

Every week our local reps come to taste me and Mike on their " new " wines / " new " vintages in the hopes that we will buy and sell them. We had Jody Jackman of Winebow imports bring us some excellent C. DONATIELLO ( unoaked Chardonnay, Russian River Chardonnay and Russian River Pinot Noir ) ,and some BRADFORD MOUNTAIN Dry Creek Zinfandel and Grist Vnyd. Zinfandel and Grist Vnyd. Syrah ).  Jody had Howard Imber of these wineries here with her. Howard worked for years for STAGS LEAP WINE CELLARS in the Napa Valley.

I was quite taken with these California releases. We will have some soon here in our store.  I liked some for drinking now in these warmer months ( the Dry Creek Zin ) and some for the fall like the Grist Zinfandel. I did not like the more fruity/forward style of the Syrah. I found it more boring but I thought that it would be very popular and so we will probably order some. I don't remember pricing now but they are more special-occasion wines, especially the DONATIELLO wines.

We will have the unoaked Chardonnay ( I really liked it, so subtle, so balanced, so much finesse ) and the Pinot Noir as well as the BRADFORD MOUNTAIN Dry Creek Zinfandel. Here are some pictures of Jody tasting me on these different bottles as well as pictures of Howard Imber.

ALSO : At the last minute, just in time to include here :

We also had our new Vintage 59 rep from Paris, France just come in today to taste us on four exciting " new " vintages that will all be here tomorrow. They are organic or " fighting organic ". There will be a beaujolais villages red, a Cotes du Roussilon red that's smooth as can be, and two others. They will all be affordable and sell for less than $20. Her name is Celine Guemnie-Tajo and so far she's batting 100% with four out of four. Next time we will taste together some whites from Roy Cloud's portfolio. I've known Roy for years when he worked at MacArthur Beverages ( Addie Bassin's ). He's got a great a great selection of French wines.

Most of you know Jody, but just in case you don't she's the one hiding behind her silver Blackberry with the beautiful necklace. Cheers,  TONY
