Jeanne Moillard of Burgundy, France Here Tuesday Evening June 3rd, 2008

It's always nice to have Jeanne here in the store , she brings with her a youthful charm and weaves a spell around pretty much everyone that she's with. Her face lights-up, her laugh is contagious, a lovely twenty-something French brunette that still is unmarried, speaks English with that charming French accent and she exudes those ideas of life as it's just about to happen/ just at that point that it's possible to make life-changing decisions and moves. She represents like so many of our youth that moment of every possibility still possible and unexplored - the precipice, the leap, the jump, that moment when faith has to sustain us as we let ourselves make such a decision. She's like her really youthful 2005 red burgundies that she tasted me on here Tuesday night. The three wines are direct import wines that are still not here in the market. The idea is that you buy them now and save before they are marked up to put on store shelves. I loved the BEAUNE 1er Cru " Epenottes " 2005, $58.99 which she described as the more feminine version next to the more masculine POMMARD 1er Cru " Epenots ", $84.99. Just like Jeanne who is at that early point in her life these wines will also be able to leap into their promises and joys that life holds for those that strike out on their own. For the moment Jeanne is able to travel around the world and enjoy/work hard at promoting her family's wines.
Each time Jeanne visits us we sell lots of her family's wines. They are of a very high quality, indeed. Moillard has been known in the past as a shipper house that mostly sells wines from vines and vineyards that they do not own. That may still be true. Also true is that they in fact do own some of their own vineyards. These two 1er Cru red burgundies come from their own vines. It's also true that they are doing more biodynamic wine production, respecting the land, vines and the soil and using no herbicides and pesticides. I can relate to that in a big way. It's their small way of " going green " and our small way of being part of the chain, that circle of life that is hopefully better for us. How can it not be ?!?
Jeanne was headed to South Carolina on Wednesday and I am sure that she will check in time she visits Washington D.C. I'm off to Moto Photo to pick up my photos taken recently which include those of Jeanne. I will post them here in the store on our wall around our round tasting-table. I will also post them her on the blog shortly. Thanks Jeanne. Bon voyage, bon continuation mon amie.    TONY

P.S. Here's an old clip I found Of Jeanne on one of her first visits here to Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits with our good friend Lloyd. Enjoy it. Here is the picture I took and the clip to share with you till I actually download the pictures I took of Jeanne in 2008. I've also included one with Bernie who is a friend of Lloyd's. Ernie and Lloyd are two of our favorite, fun, quirky and entertaining customers here at Cleveland Park. When you look at the clip and the picture Jeanne is on my right in both. TONY .

It's December 27th, 2008 , Saturday at 8:30 PM in Washington D.C. as I type this. It's my birthday Jeanne.
